You gotta turn - but the right way

  • This video is about the rotation in the golf swing. So many Golfers are struggling with the turn - why? First because they think the turn in a wrong way and and then they also do it too much. The issue of moving the head up and down, mostly is result of this as well. Thanks to the hula hoop tire, it's fantastic to visually demonstrate. In this video, I clarify why the head moves so much for many people, why the rotation is rather counterproductive for most. Take a look, I'm sure a penny or two will drop!
Enjoy and have fun practicing !!

I am wanting to get my wife into golf, now that I'm in my older years, ( I am about to turn 70,) and I have never loved my golf so much, and if there is ONE thing golf, you have to get fairly good at, we all know its the golf swing. Your explaination of this important aspect of golf is excellent, (and I have seen many golf tuition videos,) I am going to make sure my wife watches this video, so at least I will know she will be of to good start. As the people say below, a truely excellent demonstration of how you should work on your swing. Thank you.

I was a strong competitive tennis player but really struggled with golf until recently. After years of listening to golf professionals, reading books ,etc. my swing looked like I was trying to kill a poisonous snake with a club. It was so stiff, so inconsistent, I quit playing for years at a time out of frustration. Last year I decided to give it one more try by throwing out everything I had seen and heard about the golf swing and incorporate the natural feelings and motion of my tennis swing. Your video is the exact transition I ended up with. I was pleased to see the confirmation, as well as the positive results that have me enjoying the game for the first time in years.

I am a one-armed golfer and I at times struggle with consistency of contact and direction, not with distance as many would assume (my drives often fly past 250). I think the main reason for this inconsistency is that I indeed often turn "the wrong way", which with my slightly less constrained biomechanics tends to happen even faster than with average players. But today I got back to making many pars again :)

With Golf it is like that right? Even for me after 36 years of Golf, I keep on learning every day!

Wow, I just commented on another video about this very thing. You have a wonderful way of explaining things that click with me. I have been watching UA-cam videos for many years, but there is something about how you deliver the message that just clicks. ATB, Jeff

Echoing many comments here. So much has been said on YT and the internet on the golf rotation, and yours has to be the most effective and helpful, at least for me. Using the hula hoop is such a great way to show the continuity of the rotation from up swing to down swing. I have spent so many hours correcting and adjusting my up swing when it is now clear to me the problem is not maintaining the swing plane on the down swing/ follow through. Thank you.

Thanks for sharing. Well I did too and many others. The arms are also important but once the rotation (body) is not in a good position, the arms will never find a natural way and its hard to repeat!
