Simply wonderful. I saw them twice in concert - the first time, when Laetitia announced this song, I was down front and shouted out "YES!". She seemed startled that someone down in New Zealand would know their music that well and kept looking at me while she sang it. Treasured memory, so sad they called it a day after the tragic death of Mary Hanson. The moment when the rhythm section kicks in is sublime.
I have experienced something otherwordly with this song. After the song ended i found myself laying on the floor staring at the ceiling for 5 minutes straight not being able to move myself - talk about music being a drug.
I yearn for romantic compassion To love is my sole aspiration For thee who has love in a million That has burnt unto consternation All those who're pig-face and divisive Glowing for our faces and our hearts Fusing at the sad transformation That has sadly altered the power It had to end, became too disappointing Another end leading a new beginning I'll try again, the right one will come along I need someone intoxicating and strong
Easily one of my favorite songs of theirs... chords are a powerful thing, and for me, in this song, they somehow perfectly capture the feeling of pain, but with a faint glimpse of positivity in the future. (The pain especially comes along though when the piano riff starts at 1:41) Anyway, I guess I just really relate to this one more than any other song of theirs
the end of Tyler the Creator's IFHY verse 2, where there's a chord switch up and they start to sing "I'm in love", is the exact same chord progression in the suspension in this song wow
I have to agree with Mr. Leslie (and pretty much everyone else) that this is just sublime. Dots and Loops was the first Stereolab album I got (on Cassette, in 1998 in Sam Goody in Ashford, Kent). Maybe its just the time and associations, but I think it really was their high-water mark, absolute perfection.
Ahhh!!! The peak. The best Lab ever did. So perfect. So stylish....So mood.....So missed in a current sort of way. How I wished they were on tour. How I wish I could kiss all the pretty nerd girls.....*happy sigh*
@Akhin I'd agree there. The way it breezes through musically is very reminiscent to me of songs like Girl From Ipanema and the overall quality of the chords and harmonies are very bossa in my ears. That being said: Whatever the hell they're doing and whatever the hell they want to call it on this song I want to call it amazing.

The part around 3:47 is absolutely amazing
I’m so happy to have found this video again! I thought it was lost forever
I agree. The absolute perfect summer driving song. So much emotion. Heartwrenching.
Just two chords, but an amazing song.
At the end of existence, this song would be one that I would want transmitted into outer space so that the universe could hear our legacy.
