It’s so funny how I recently re-watched the movie “Nostalghia” by Andrei Tarkovsky and I fell in love with it again, and now here’s Maarten one of my favorite Artists putting a reference from it on his new song. I love life’s coincidences.
Even though the video is in reference to the film Nostalghia, I’d like to also think of it as a call back to his first album, We F**ked A Flame Into Being. Now, he’s trying to light a new flame and doing everything he can to keep it burning so he can move ahead.
Love how the distinctive sound is still there, the amazing backing vocals, the bass line, the half whispered lyrics, the thought-out percussion, but it still feels like a different sound! So excited about the new album. I hope Madrid is included on the tour dates. :) I really enjoyed the March 2023 concert in that small venue, what a privilege it was.
I am here again, 3474738 times since it came out..just listening and watching again and again how beautifully he handles the light, so suspicious and determined. So simple yet so strong...An ALL in Comedian street AHAHAHA.. I am so happy that Warhaus (Mr. Marty) exist. Hope he doesnt puke reading this.😁🎊🤗❤️
I'm almost 60 and I'm so taken in by Maarten's music. I have never tired of listening to new music, but this stuff makes me excited about it. I've never flown on a plane to see a live band because I live in a large US city, but since Warhaus, understandably, doesn't tour the US I just might have to fix that.
Looks like I will have to order that Tarkovsky box set I have thought about. Time to extend my Tarkovsky past just Stalker and Solaris (great those are of course!!).
