    Lyrics:
    I yearn for romantic compassion
To love is my sole aspiration
For thee who has love in a million
    That has burnt unto consternation
All those who're pig-face and dimi...
Glowing for our face and our hearts
    Fusing at the sad transformation
That has sadly altered the "balance"
It had to end, became too disappointing
Another end leading a new beginning
I'll try again, the right one will come along
I need someone intoxicating and strong

seriously, this is one of the greatest songs ever written. try to argue against that. how is this band not more well known? more importantly. why did i discover this band AFTER they disbanded. wtf i just wanted to listen to one of the greatest artists of all time live; is that too much to ask?

Saw them do this one in Auckland, NZ, some years ago. When Laetitia announced the song I was about two rows from the front and screamed "Yes!" at the top of my lungs. I swear she looked at me the whole time she was singing this song. Unforgettable.

I like how it's all pretty shaky here - not because Laetita and Mary shake some hand percussion things, but because the band is not rhythmically tight at all. For me this still has the raw charme of a post-punk band playing poppy latin-jazz. Even the studio version has some "filth" in there (check that old and muddy sounding piano somewhere in the right channel). And I like that much better than a bunch of academic jazzers playing a song like this perfectly.
Apart from that I find the song itself and in particular Laetitia's performance absolutely lovely.

Yeah, nah. It'll be great if they would play it well. But I'm also guessing the mix doesn't help.

This 5/4 compass is exquisite yet hard to master and probably Tim as the composer can manage it better than everybody else in the band. They're all lovely anyway and that was probably a full on magic night.

One of the most beautiful songs ever. The lyrics, the music, their voices.
    RIP Mary. 💔

Esse show foi histórico porque poucas vezes a banda veio ao Brasil, porque essa formação de 2000 foi a melhor da história da banda, porque um ano depois Mary Hansen morreria e porque a banda não existe mais. Muitas razões.

Very few great artists can manage to sound the same if not better live. Stereolab falls into that category.
