    Tom, you are quite the engineer! As an electrical engineer myself, I love 'unnecessary switches and lights' all very neatly installed and displayed. Produzieren Sie weiterhin Videos. Viele HAMs werden sehr daran interessiert sein, was Sie erstellen und teilen. Grüße aus Kalifornien 😀73 KJ6ER

      Understood. The centerpiece of my ham shack is my soldering station. My HF transceiver is a (tr)uSDX, so it's a little hard to find on my shack bench. I'm hoping to get an orange-colored 3D printed case made for it so it's easier to spot, if I ever decide to put it in a case. I keep experimenting with different toroids in the Class E tuning circuit in order to get another couple of percent efficiency out of it. 20 meters is up to 89% efficiency now from about 72% when I first built it. I'm considering trying a Litz wire wind next. I look at a beautiful shack like this and sigh, but I know that if I had one I'd never use it. I don't ragchew much. I prefer to build and experiment. About the only time I actually get on the air is when I'm testing something I've built or modified, or want to see the results of an experiment. :)

    VERY NEAT, "SANITARY" layout! 🙂 (My shack's "decor" would be best described as "Early Disaster Area" 😄). I'm intrigued by the perforated metal used used to enclose everything; it looks fantastic, allows the equipment to stay cool, & may provide some RF shielding as well. I'm contemplating a major re-layout of my own shack, you've given me a few ideas! 😉

      Thank you, Tom! I have used perforated steel sheets (100cm x 50cm) mounted on a wooden cage. However, I would recommend to use aluminium sheets instead as steel is very hard to cut. Aluminium is stable enough for the purpose and much easier to work with. Good luck with your own project!

      Thanks, Nik! Search for "DELITE Altitude Schiffsuhr" on Amazon. There is only one model which includes the 3min radio silence marker. vy73

    New to your videos I loved the three go boxes you had for your various equipment I did have a question on the very first one that contains the g90 you had two antennas screwed into the box one on the right I was curious as to what brand and model that is and assuming it is VHF UHF would appreciate your thoughts and love your home station it's absolutely awesome good job.

    • @tomrief
      @tomrief  6 місяців тому +1

      Hi Greg, the antenna you are refering to is called CBC-435 (produced by different manufacturers). Works nicely and is very compact.

    so fantastic shack!!! love the design you adopted and how you build it, can I ask if vicrotn make noise on hf band? maybe i was unlucky because mine (i've try in my car, at home in the garden and portable) was a spurious generator on all 0-30 band ... 73 de IZ3QVB

    • @tomrief
      @tomrief  6 місяців тому

      I started off with a rather cheap solar charger and transformer from Offgridtec and also had terrible noise on HF. However, I only have the best experience with the Victron components which are not causing any troubles for me on HF. 73

    Very nice room setup! I am curious about the hardware housing surrounding the radios etc...what material are you using for that?

      Hi Tom, it is a wooden cage covered by perforated stainless steel sheets. The heavier devices rest on wooden supports, the lighter ones are mounted by steel angels. The backside is open and the desk sits on wheels which allows me easy access to the inside. 73

    How is your Victron system with RFI? Did you need to add additional chokes/filters?

    • @tomrief
      @tomrief  6 місяців тому +1

      I haven't noticed any problems with the Victron products. I had cheaper solar chargers before wich caused massive problems but the Victron chargers seem very quiet.
