- Today I took a tour of Rich's Ham Shack. I was impressed by his two Flagship HF Radios! Additionally, he has a few antique disc players dated back in the 1900's. Enjoy the video!

*Boy, I've never seen so much passion for sound, music and communications in my life. You, sir, are a true master at your craft, for you clearly love your craft. Respect.*
Hey Rich, I love your Ham Shack. I was on the USS Saratoga with VF-31 in 1976 also. I remember visiting the radio room with another shipmate that was wanting to make a call back to the states. Even to today I can still remember the call sign W7WST ( Whiskey 7 Whiskey Sugar Ten ). At that time I didn't show much interest in Amateur Radio but now I passed the Technician in April and now the General June 15th. Hope to be on the air soon. Thank you for the tour of your shack.

Hi Darren, I like all your videos but this one is extraordinary.
Thank you very much for giving me the opportunity to meet Richard and take a tour of his station.
You're welcome, I enjoyed his tour and history.
Thankyou cappy and rich.really enjoyed the tour.what a great shack 👍👍👍
Wow, you brought back memories when you mentioned the USS John F. Kennedy as I served on that Aircraft Carrier as part of VF-32 from 1989 to 1993. In fact, we deployed for Operation Desert Shield/ Desert Storm. I'm a fairly new licensed ham operator (General class) KI5YKA
Enjoyed all the content. Especially liked vintage radio and equipment.
Excellent series! I enjoyed watching it. Keep going!
Say thank you for this visit, and 73 from Germany DH1KJ Joe
Love the Shack...looks breath taking for what it is. Tnx for the Video, Capt Darren. I worked Richard on 17m back in 2022. Time to catch him for a Contact on a new Band. Happy Sunday into the sunny State. 73 de Your Friend Günter 💯🙋♂
He's active on HF and you can find him on 17m.
As I was watching the video I saw your callsign pop up briefly on FT8.... some interesting exhibits. 73
Awesome video, love the record history
Yeah, I was amazed on the knowledge Rich has on the development of the Phonographs.
This popped up as a recommendation. And by-gosh it was soooo worth the time to watch--Thank you for this presentation!! (More please 😊....subbed)

A pleasure to see you and Rich Darren! He has a great station there. Rich and I have had a few QSO's over the past two years. Caught him mobile but using his base station remote. Hi Rich!
Art W1SWL
He told me he uses his mobile phone to operate remote HF. He controls his SteppIR, Amp, and HF radio.
Outstanding video Darren, of your friend Rich WA1GZY home and radio shack tour! California. KN6BZG
Very interesting!
Darren, congratulations on a great video. You were peaking above 1700 watts on the wattmeter. Might want to blur that on the video ?
Excelente!!!! Saludos
That is one nice shack 😮
At 46:30 looking up thru the antenna if you look closely, i think you caught a UFO on camera 😁. Great video, i really enjoyed it.
Your're right! lol
I've has several great QSO's with Richard over the years.. Fine Business Operator
He's overall a gentleman and pleasant to talk to. Very experienced Ham Operator!
By the way he came up with the name Nipper because when the music was playing the Dog would Nip the speaker horn edges...
Ah, I never knew that!
Darren, thanks for doing this. Richard has an awesome station. . Is he the original holder of that callsign? If so, he got his start in the 60s or 70s as did I. 73 de Scott W1AL
I have the same Victrola. I’ll send photos.
Sounds very complicated. Give me a Morse Key and a bog standard rig any day. Love the old radio and record players.
Connect two good speakers to the TS-990, tune both Rx to the same freq, and really enjoy pseudo stereo autio.
Kc2hbr a friend of mine
Bring him to this video.
I don’t have his number next time I hear him I tell him
