This isn't a ham shack, it's a museum exhibit. Truly incredible work. Thank you for sharing,
Thank you very much!
One question, how do I book a week there? That is my idea of a perfect vacation.
I could quite comfortably live in that shack as long as I have food and a bathroom. Heaven on earth.
What a honour to receive a radio from Art Collin’s widow. Well deserved.
I’m studying to get my license, so most of this is a foreign language, but this is one of the most amazing things I’ve ever seen. Thank you for sharing.
Best of luck! Be sure to seek out experienced hams in your area. I'm sure you can find someone to help you along. If you can't, call me.

3 years too late, but……..DMAN! That looks AMAZING! I love those desks with the green tops. You could write a book about everything in that shack.
I got emotional watching this. What a great collection of radio equipment! I love old military radios, but your line up of S-Lines is incredible. My hat is off to you for keeping this knowledge alive. 73 W1ECM Eric
Thanks Eric. I am truly blessed... and all the kind comments I've seen.
I realize Im pretty randomly asking but do anyone know a good website to watch newly released tv shows online ?
@Zayn Francis Flixportal :)
@Westley Titan Thank you, I went there and it seems like they got a lot of movies there :D I really appreciate it !!
@Zayn Francis glad I could help xD
Well I just have three things to say;
1. There's no way, so I thought, I'm going to watch a 25 minute shack tour. And then I watched it twice and it really made my day.
2. I was hooked by the Model 19 sound, what a joy to see it operate (last saw one 45 years ago in another hams shack).
3. You sir have absolutely mastered the craft of Amateur Radio and have the finest radio room(s) I have ever seen in my many decades of operating.
Best 73,
DE WB6JWB
Your comment made my day! Thanks!
I had the pleasure of touring Jay's little shack a couple of years ago, I was completely flabbergasted. Being an old USAF radio technician I was drooling at his collection I was very impressed. He just scratched the tip of the iceberg and didn't mention the other setups he has in that building, I was so jealous when I left there.
Hi ya Bruce! Thanks for the comments!
A lot of history here... Thank you for giving us a tour.
You are very welcome! Thanks for your kind comment.
Awesome shack! Old "boat anchors" and modern hightech beautifully arranged.......absolute top! 73 Mike
Thanks! Appreciate your comments!
That was AWESOME! Thank you for sharing. I agree with the last comment that this looks like a museum exhibit. I really love the details of the use of vintage items in each area, the old telephone, old metal desk lamps etc. It really completes the looks and transports you back in time. I grew up next to a Ham Operator that had a huge telescoping tower and was always contesting. I knew because we could hear him on our tv sometimes, before cable came to town. I always wanted to start back then but he morse tests scared me away. I finally did get my Tech and General a couple year ago and now have a miniature shack in my basement as well as my mobile Jeep HF and VHF/UHF rigs. I need more land, money and time, and patience to get to where you are. Congratulations! Job Very Well Done Sir!
Thanks very much! 73!
….as I sit here with my jaw hanging open, I am in complete amazement of what you presented! God bless you and your friends on what you all have created! 73’s!
Wow, thank you. 73!
Great Presentation!!! This is a real Ham and his well organized, assembled, and designed Ham Shack. Bravo! I have enjoyed 67 years of Radio. Thank you for preserving the equipment and the real essences of this hobby. One of the nicest shacks in my memory.

Glad you enjoyed it! And very much appreciate your kind comments.
This is the second time I've watched this tour, and I just can't seem to get enough. It's marvellous! I sincerely appreciate your sharing this. When I was just a SW-listening wee lad, I remember perusing radio magazines and catalogues, and dreaming of what gear I might have in my dream shack someday. After some decades, I finally got around to collecting just a couple of rigs and some other assorted gear. Certainly just a modest little shack by your standards! Nonetheless, your tour is a wonderful reminder of just what's possible. And those old Collins rigs are still just as drool-worthy as ever. Cheers and 73!
Thank you so much. I owe a great deal to many people. I could not have done this without their help and expertise.
the best setup i ever seen love it, cheers from Ontario Canada.
Great collection of vintage equipment. I started in 1960 as WV6LGE in San Diego. First gear was BC-342 receiver and Globe Scout crystal-controlled transmitter. Almost continuously licensed since 1960. Other calls include WA6LGE, WB6ADA, KR6WU (Okinawa), EA7BZN (Rota, Spain) and finally WA3SCW. We may have worked each other during the past 60 years or so. 73 DE WA3SCW
Thanks Bill! Vry 73 to you!
This video has inspired me to team up with some other hams & create a real shack. What a bar to reach!
And here I struggling here to get my license here in India. This is the only hobby I have.. Send me a few bucks or make a meaningful donation. I don't really know where to start
Thank you for sharing your shack with us, Jay. It was a real treat taking the tour!
Thanks Lee! 73
The home-brew equipment is beautiful! Thank you for the tour. I'll listen for your signal on 40 and 75.
Well, what can I say? This is beyond astonishing!!
Impressive gear, however just a reflection of much more impressive minds and people. Really enjoyed seeing this, though I don't understand a lot of this yet I can appreciate one's labor of love. Cheers from Alaska!
Jay, I really enjoyed your shack tour. It's the best I've ever seen. I'm sure that the majority of people that comment will praise your shack and some will hope Heaven has a ham shack just like yours. The biggest take-away I got from your video however was that ham radio truly does bring people together. You are a fortunate man to have met and worked with so many other fellow hams. In our social media saturated lives where human contact has been minimized ham radio is one of the last vestiges of direct people to people contact. I've been a ham for ten years now and after seeing your video I think it's time for myself and all other hams to start actively promoting ham radio and mentoring new hams. It truly is a great hobby. My best to you and yours sir.
Thanks for some good comments! Person to person contact is essential for human survival. We were not made to be isolated. Fortunately ham fests are back on the calendars. The brave will always prevail! Thanks for your comments!
Well that is surely the greatest amateur shack in the world. I am very grateful (including all other amateurs out there) to have been afforded the privilege of being shown around it by your good self in this video. You are a gentleman and a scholar sir. God bless you and your friends for such hard and fun work. 73 de GI8WFA.
Wow, thanks! I deeply appreciate all the kind comments from everyone.
That was absolutely incredible.
So pleased I came across this video. Truly exceptional workmanship. Thank you for sharing.
Beautiful! Now that is what is called a shack. Some really nice gear in there. Thank you for putting this on YT and for your great commentary.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Jay a fantastic video. I watched every minute with interest. Well done!
Magnificent shack!
Such beautiful pieces of history so well restored, kept and operated!
Thankyou so much for making this video and sharing.
Many thanks!
4:15. I took note of the teletype sounds and they don’t go away
Thanks for sharing this! This is a beautiful shack, that is a labour of love!
What an amazing shack!
Incredible. Mr. Collins' own rig ... how cool is that ! So many collect old radios, but I am only impressed by those, like you, who keep them running and actually use them. That is what sets a true collector apart from a hoarder of old gear. Clearly you love this stuff as much as your best dog. Lovely. Thanks for a well-scripted, fast moving tour. Sorry I was not there to enjoy some Texas brisket which is the best anywhere. 73 and Stay Safe, OM. JR
Awesome! Thanks for the tour, Great Station.
Any time! Thanks!
An outstanding presentation, Sir! An excellent example of great workmanship, camaraderie, and achievement. Thank you for this. 73
I'm blushing. Once again--- it was the friendship and hard work of others who made this a reality!
Thoroughly enjoyed your video I appreciate you going to the time to make it for us 73
Thanks for watching!
Jay-- what a great, super- informative video-- really enjoyed this tour-- thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Wow. Stunning shack.
Thank you!
This is so cool! A dream shack!
Wow what an amazing shack. Thanks for sharing with us. 73.
The ultimate Ham Shack. And a great job in stirring our minds to past radios. I have a friend who is similar to you in his love for older radios. WA9SAW. He started in CB when just a young teenager and basically taught himself. Most of his military-style radios were from when he was in the military. He retired as Command Sargeant Major. Great job, you teach as if you were a professor of radio. ~ Mark, W9MSM
Thanks Mark!
that is an amazing collection of gear. Love the teletype and the military radio gear
Thanks! If conditions on AM continue to improve I might be able to use some of the military AM rigs again!
Truly impressive. Great post KC7KQT Midland Texas
Amazing! Thank you for sharing.
very impressive collection and working. wish maybe I can be there one day to witness those engineering heritage
Your voice is very smooth and articulate, a pleasure to listen to!
Very much appreciate that! It did take several takes to get the audio. I have learned much since making this video and improved the audio in later videos.
Very interesting and impressive. Thanks for the tour.
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it
Wow, you dont get better than that. Pure quality.
Thank you very much.
Beautiful radio shack and a great collection of equipment and integrated in beautiful fashion!! Thanks for sharing this!!! 73s John, W4BAY
My pleasure! Thank you.
super interesting tour, cheers.
Thanks for a super tour, 73
Glad you enjoyed it
This is incredible
Well, things are bigger in Texas. Very interesting and well build antenna system, common point grounding, love it. There's nothing like good old fashioned plate modulation. I would love to have you demonstrate your military radio collection.
Worth a thought. Maybe when we get some decent propagation I'll do that.
That is defiantly a shack to be proud of. I would really like to see more of your Common point ground system.
Thanks
KR5OG Paul
I will add that to the cue. Thanks for the suggestion.
Wow! You are a true inspiration! Your shed is a dream!

Hello John. I don't know where to start other than to say you have an amazing shack and workshop. I love your dedication to workmanship and quality builds which is evident in your equipment. That vintage Ham gear gets my blood pumping. 73s and have a good one!

Thanks for watching!
Thank you so much for sharing.
You are so welcome!
Thanks for sharing. I'm not a tube guy but I sure have a respect for those that are. Wish I had the knowledge to create a fraction of what you've done.
Thanks for watching!
A Beautiful lifetime of work in this video...thanks for sharing !!
Glad you enjoyed it! And thanks.
Outstanding presentation and outstanding installation Jay. I understand your journey better than most as I have touched on many of the same things in my journey that began in 1955. I hope you find one, or more, hams to pass your gear and your passion to whey you reach the end of the road. 73, K4DRQ, Hoover, AL
I appreciate that! Thanks!
Absolutely amazing Brilliant thank you
Many thanks!
Very very impressive!
Dream shack! Very nice!
Great video Jay, thanks for sharing! Your handbook remains prominently displayed in my shack :)
Appreciate your comment Mike. Amazing that it has been 15 years since I did the Pocket Guide!
Fantastic!
wow amazing stuff. i would never leave the shack
beautiful.
Very nice....great job !!!
Real FB, OM. Really enjoyed the video. IMHO, it's a survey not only of your shack, but also of the golden days of ham radio. At the height of the cold war, my Army unit used R390's to great effect to ntercept Warsaw Pact communications in Eastern Europe. What a great radio! 73 de W9LEN.
Thankk you for your service! 73
This is incredibly cool, there's something just comfy about this video. As a younger new ham I have a lot of respect for people who are this knowledgeable. I had no idea how complex this hobby could be, it's been an eye opener through my time learning so far. Thanks for the video.
Glad you enjoyed it! The hobby has come a long way.
Great set-up, simply speechless. Doubt there is anything in the world that can compare as far as the one-off design and labor. PS, I think I saw this lab/shack in an original episode of the Outer Limits!
Fantastic shack well done on all the hard work
Thank you kindly!
Hi Jay,
Thank you for the tour through your shack.
Very Impression station and shacktour!
See you on the air.

Wow- what a great shack ..... 👍👍😎👍👍
Thank you for your kind comment.
Very impressive, thank you for sharing
Thank you too!
I'm utterly speechless....my shack is an Elecraft KX3 and 53 feet of wire in the attic!
This is awesome!
Thanks Jeff! You might take a look at the Professional Photography video as well.
This guy isn't lucky. He's just plain blessed.
Indeed I am blessed. In many ways. Thank you.
Great Video
I got that TTY, sound in my brain, in the 1960's in radio one aboard the USS Newport News (CA-148). I started wanting to be a HAM as an ET helping with a MARS station aboard, but life happened, now at 72 and retired I got my TECH and General right before covid19. I admire your station, mine is a Xiegu g90 and looking for tubes for an old LA 1000 from N9CJT. At 15:19 I enjoyed seeing that Collins R390 they were my first job as a field change in 1968🖐🏼 🎙73's kd9oam
My dad was a newspaper photographer (watch my photo video)... that sound was ingrained in me at a very young age. Thank you for your kind comments.
@@Radiotexas Will do Jay, I also hope to be on the air with you some day.73's kd9oam
At 67 I'm relatively new at this. This is fascinating and way beyond my knowledge, even though I have my general license. I'm using hand me down equipment from my Elmer (silent key) N5CNN. I still work and I'm in the process of building a shop. I have way too many hobbies. 73 KF5NNZ
VERY VERY nice shack Jay. I'm a collins man too, but with a couple of Henry amps. I'm doing my thing in Texas also, and a few steps behind you on every level, but I'm on the same vector. See you down the log....
Excellent Jay...beautiful Station indeed....cheers Clint - VK3CSJ
Many thanks mate!
Wow. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching! I appreciate your comment.
WOW!!! SHACK is incredible thanks for sharing!!!! de VK2AOE 73....CW will never die!!!! :)
Hi Jay, nice shack and collection . I'm going to steal the design of your consoles. They look great and I just tore out my shack. I use collins 75A3 and a KWS-1, my main rigs are 2 ten tec orions and a 7300 plus a FT-991. I am a EE so I have a great lab, just about your age and started at the same age - also did the 20 wpm test 40 years ago. Now 20 wpm doesn't bother me now. I use my own LDMOS amplifiers. Bet you saw Dom Busick's collect back in the day. Great video, 73's, W5YB.
Thank you sir first class
SIR! You have my respect!!! That has to be the most BEAUTIFUL shack on the planet!!!! I love how you have them set up into individual stations, the furniture looks great, AND YOUR CABLE MANAGEMENT IS SUPERB!!!! Your antenna farm is sooo cool to look at!!! MY FAVORITE thing about your shack is that most everything is hooked up, functioning, and the fact that you use and exorcise all of it!!! That is going to end up being our last link to free speech. I hope you have a young college to pass that down to so your hard work and love for the hobby lives on! I took a tour of the old WLW am transmitter, just north of Cincinnati Ohio. That was a 500,000 watt station. It was known as the NATIONS STATION!!! Your station/stations are so much more organized and shiny like a LAB.... I tip my hat to you Sir.
My goodness. Thank you for the kind comments.
