Thanks Jemma, we felt this was an essential video for people who were new to guinea pigs because many people don't realise the importance of all these things :)

Thanks Monique. A very helpful video for starter guinea pig parents! How is little Sunny Pig doing? Hope she's back home with the rest of the piggy gang now and doing really well? x
Thank you Jemma! Sunny Pig is doing amazingly! She went back in with the others on Tuesday last week and is no longer hobbling around! They're in a room on their own at the moment as we have some renovations going on where they were but when we go into the room (which we do frequently) she pops out of her hidey and comes to the side of the cage begging for pea flakes. She's being very spoilt at the moment! She's a real cutie! :)
You're very welcome :) You should be able to get a silkie from a rescue centre - have you considered that at all? We always recommend rescuing as the rescues are always so full which is very sad for the piggies. We got our silkie, Miss Honey from a rescue.
I love the content of this video. Thank you. I have been petsitting guinea pigs for others and I just got a pair of baby guinea piggies today. This kind of high-quality educational videos keep my knowledge updated and refresh my mind.
Because male guinea pigs get more aggressive over the stuff in the cage so they need a bigger cage to keep em from fighting over water, hay, toys, hides and all that good stuff
Have a look at classified ads on gum tree or craigslist as there may be someone who needs to rehome their guinea pigs. I would recommend that you get any guinea pigs that you rehome in this way to a vet as soon as you get them so they can confirm their gender, and make sure they are ok as you don't always know how they've been treated or how well they've been looked after.
I have a Guinea pig that just lost her sister. we just got 2 new ones recently but she doesn’t really fit in with them because the 2 other Guinea pigs are better friends with each other and she gets left out so I think if we try to make this cage she will be a lot happier
I've updated the description to include the Burgess pellets but I think they're only available in the UK. We do have some other recommended pellets in the description for both UK and US though
So if i got a midwest guinea pig cage i would take off the liners, take off the blue cloth that goes on the bottom and then spray it? And would I wash the fleece liners and blue cloth that comes with the cage? Sorry I have so many questions!
@@sierrajarrell9601 yep! You simply take the liners and fleece and throw them in the laundry, spray the bottom of the cage and wipe it with paper towels, then put the clean and dry liners and fleece back in! I would recommend having an extra set of fleece and liners so your piggies can get back in their cage as soon as possible and not have to wait for the washer and dryer.
It's difficult to answer without seeing the setup but the most important thing is to make sure your guinea pigs are safe from harm including any other pets or animals or escaping somewhere they might hurt themselves. The more space they have, the better. So if you can provide them with a safe pen that is attached to their cage, that would be great.
