I have 2 guineapigs, both girls. I have alot time for them, they do have hay all the time. And ofcourse vegetables, but not really any dandelion leaves or anything like that because well, there's already LOTS of snow on the ground. Lumi, is a bit bigger pig, compared to her sister Lulu. Lumi loves attention, right now she is sleeping on me. So i don't want to bother her, Lulu loves attention too. Lumi is white, and Lulu has white, black, brown, and dark brown colored fur. But the thing i really need to know is that how often should i bathe my pigs? I know bathing them too often will dry out their skin. So i want to make sure i don't bathe them too much, their fur is short and usually very soft. But it has started to feel a bit rough than usually. They are still young, so could that be because they are getting older? Maybe, but how much do guineapigs usually shed? I love my guineapigs, and i want them to be happy and healthy, so if you have time. Please answer if you can.
For a long time I wanted rats as pets, but when I went to summer camp they had a place where you could pet animals and stuff and they had a Guinea pig there who I just LOVED and he loved me (I could tell his emotions because of my knowledge on rats and also when I got home I looked it up again just to make sure). So now I’m considering getting Guinea pigs (but rats are still number 1).
Petsmart dose a 14 day care trial thing so if anything happens within 14 days you can return them and get your money back, so during that time if you find out they’re allergic you can return them
I found this video super helpful and am considering getting them! I was wondering what the verdict is on "unsocialized" guinea pigs, someone at my local pet shop said one of her guinea pigs just doesn't get along with others and must be kept alone- any thoughts, ideas, or maybe there are ways to 'socialize' them?

GUYS. IF YOU HAVE A MALE GUINEA PIG PLEASE READ THIS!! Around 2 - 3 human years male guinea pigs poop will get blocked up. When that happens they dont eat or drink. PLEASE read this all if you have a male guinea pig. If you have a guinea pig under 2 years. Hold him EVERY day and check his butt. If it looks red/swollen and or has poop stuck. Try and pull/squeeze it out or he will die! Dont make the same mistake i did.. i lost my piggie due to this :( if your male guinea pig does not move, eat or drink, Rush them to a vet! Please. If you have a male guinea pig around 2 - 3 also, keep checking his butt till hes 4 years! dont make the same mistake i did. I hope this helps. bye

Someone asked if I would take their guinea pig because their child doesn’t want it anymore. It’s 2 years old and has always been alone. Should I look into getting another one or not since he’s never lived with another guinea pig?
I have an elderly piggie who's now 5. His brother crossed the Rainbow 🌈 😢 . He now has 3 girlfriends. The introduction was slow being neighbours for a while. His curiosity got the better of him one evening as he passed their home ever so gingerly and then he turned and ran ! 🤣 When he realised they weren't going to eat him alive he headed back home! F/F 4 month's and they're one big happy family. The girls love him and I've even seen them giving his face a wash! (In piggie land i really believe they're 💋 😘) Tipsy is every sense a real Gentleman and has NEVER made any advances towards his girls, (strict supervision during floor time back then was undertaken as babies were definitely off the menu!) he's so laid back, he's almost horizontal !😂 Bless his 5 year old Heart ❤ 😍. Maybe there are other male piggies out there who are as unique as my boy. 🐹 I get the best Hello coming through the door after work ! Oh, and the in-betweens too! 😊😍

I'm getting guinea pigs that are about 2 years old. In 4-5 days and I'm hoping they live to at least 5 or 6. Their rexes or absyinnians (I'm not sure yet cause I've only seen pictures and they weren't very close up) one is albino the other one is a tortie with white. They are males and I don't know if their bonded or not. Also the albino is polar and the tortie is bear (see how they fit together)
Just make sure they have a nice big enclosure with separate hideouts and keep an eye on them to make sure they get along. Not all males do get along but fingers crossed yours will be good friends :)
I only have one i found out about pairs to late since the other got sold by the time i had the money tho im happy hes ok have him for 7years about to be 8years i don’t want to think when he passes but it something i have to be prepared for the next time i get one in a pair that time it’ll be a long time before i do.
I have two Lovely piggies Millie (girl) and Mac (boy) They get just the right amount of playtime, plenty of food, water and hay! I clean their cage every Wednesday, or when the cage needs cleaning! And I'm doing all the other stuff correct!(I knew nothing about guinea pigs and I have had them for two months now. I will continue to care for them forever ❤️ and they will never be rehomed because that's cruel and illegal. There is just one thing that I know is not very good but I am working on it, but I need to reduce the amount of calcium in their diet... Because they are peeing out white pee. But they refuse to eat much else so it is left to rot in their cage. So I still occasionally give them kale, (which is what is causing it) but especially Millie needs to eat more because she is also losing alot of weight each week (60 grams) so I have no choice in what to do except more kale. Please help. I don't know what to do about Millie's weight loss, or the fact that they won't eat much else except kale. Please tell me! (Btw I'm not allowed to send either of them to the vet my parents said if they die, they die.)
It sounds like you're doing a great job. Have a look at our video here for more ideas on what they can eat ua-cam.com/video/PCDWC84eeHY/v-deo.html. We also have a long list of things on our website here www.guineapiggles.co.uk/guinea-pig-food-chart/. If Millie is losing that much weight she really needs to see the vet. There is also a powdered feed you can mix with water and syringe feed them with called "critical care" that will help them put on weight. Otherwise you could grind down the guinea pig pellets and mix with water and syringe feed. Perhaps you could try a bit of fruit such as apple or banana as they often like the sweet fruits although they shouldn't have too much as it could cause diarrhoea.

Hi Cheyenne, the best thing to do is to contact a rescue centre in your area. Avoid advertising on Facebook, gumtree etc as you piggy may well get into the wrong hands. I hope that helps x
a little last but look in the ole phone book or ask a pet store where what GUINEA PIG breeders they get theres from i am sure they will know someone who will take em
It sounds like he may not be used to being handled so maybe take him out for daily cuddles to get him used to you. Do this for a few days and when he's a bit more chilled try slowly and carefully trimming his hair. But take your time and have some veggies to hand to distract him. A piece of Romaine lettuce always goes down well with our piggies!
The one thing that made me a little bit sad is that what you said they should be in Paris and I like really like what she meant but like for me for my guinea pigs because I have three to live together in one lives by their self because that one is a troublemaker to those two and now I’m realizing why I want that guinea pig never wants to hang out because we used to have a strong bond but now we don’t I mean we still do but it’s like he’s just fading away

@@joejacko1587 two males can 100% be put together. they just require maybe a bit more space and seperate food and water. i own two bonded males who absolutely love eachother and have had no issues.
@@UdonnoodleAJDerpy how old are they
I'd love to own a few guinea pigs one day. Not only are they adorable, they are a historically accurate pet as they have been kept by royals and nobles back in the day. But if I was going to travel but not on a plane or boat but by car, I'd rather bring them with me.
I work night shifts and want a cuddly companion such as these fellas. They are so adorable.
🐾❤️”Their never ending companionship and love outweighs their smelliness!” 🐾❤️
Things I did right:
-big space
-lots of veggies
-2 girls: Berry, and Oreo
-lots of play time
-nails trimmed and groomed every week
Pellets, hay, veggies, and water always refilled

wayyyy to much work for me. Glad I found this video

Welp now I gotta to go get another Guinea pig because I did not know they NEED a partner but I’m kinda happy cuz now I get two
Thank you for this clear information I was thinking of getting one - (under the impression that they don't like to be in a crowd) - mistake number one, mistake number two was thinking that I would have time to care for one (two) I am now having a rethink about taking on the care of 2 Guinea-pigs.
I hate leaving my guinea pigs for even just one day with my brother😂

Hi i have a question if i have school is it ok if i leve them to go to school
i used to have a single GUINEA PIG my sister had one two but they didn't get along so they were never in the same cage also make sure they are the same sex having 2 will turn into 100 fast
@@jhakinoff7915 yes just make sure they have their water bottle they use the same one as hamsters that hang also food and they are good to go also make sure the water bottle is working by rubbing your along the ball and make sure water comes out of it yes you can leave them for a weekend just make sure they have food n water i don't think this lady has ever even read a book on taking care of them she would be having them on wood floors for long periods
why don't you use sawdust for their cages
I got my rabbit and realised I have a hay allergy. I’m very lucky that all my allergies are mild and the occasional antihistamine dose the job. He’s totally worth itchy skin and eyes even thinking of adding guinea pigs to the family now.

Do you recommend bathing for short haired guinea pigs? Also if so how often? Also what shampoo? Maybe you could make a bathing video
We have short haired guinea pigs and long haired guinea pigs and don't often bathe the short haired ones but they do need one occasionally so every 3 months or so is fine. You can get small pet shampoo but I've also used my own shampoo with ours which is very gentle and free from parabens etc. This page might be helpful re bathing www.guineapiggles.co.uk/can-you-bathe-a-guinea-pig. I'm getting 2 piggies in 2 days, really exited
Hello Vilda how are you doing today
Ty im getting 2 boys in tuseday and im so excited and this gided it also my mom knows how to bc she has a guinea pig when she was young
Hello Sofia how are you doing today
I love guinea pigs so much 😻
For a long time I wanted rats as pets, but when I went to summer camp they had a place where you could pet animals and stuff and they had a Guinea pig there who I just LOVED and he loved me (I could tell his emotions because of my knowledge on rats and also when I got home I looked it up again just to make sure). So now I’m considering getting Guinea pigs (but rats are still number 1).
Your guinea pigs are SO. SO. SO. CUTE!!!!!
Really cute Guinea pigs! And so true❤💕
Petsmart dose a 14 day care trial thing so if anything happens within 14 days you can return them and get your money back, so during that time if you find out they’re allergic you can return them
Thank you!
Wow I didn’t know this. Thanks for the tip!
Hello LuCinda how are you doing today

Dont make the same mistake i did.. i lost my piggie due to this :(
if your male guinea pig does not move, eat or drink, Rush them to a vet! Please.
If you have a male guinea pig around 2 - 3
also, keep checking his butt till hes 4 years!
dont make the same mistake i did. I hope this helps. bye

Thank you for the tips!

I only have one i found out about pairs to late since the other got sold by the time i had the money tho im happy hes ok have him for 7years about to be 8years i don’t want to think when he passes but it something i have to be prepared for the next time i get one in a pair that time it’ll be a long time before i do.
I have two Lovely piggies Millie (girl) and Mac (boy)
They get just the right amount of playtime, plenty of food, water and hay!
Perhaps you could try a bit of fruit such as apple or banana as they often like the sweet fruits although they shouldn't have too much as it could cause diarrhoea.

thank you🥰 it's so very helpful
As a fellow Guinea pig owner it makes me so mad seeing the tiny Guinea pig cages it makes me so sad seeing poor Guinea pigs not having enough room to run around
It's really sad when they don't have the space they need. They need a lot more than many people realise.
What is kind of strange my parents just took me to go get my guinea pig without telling me nor any knowledge. Though he is living and gets lots of treats and love! (We only have one but we give more attention to him)
Many people don't realise how much effort takes to take proper care of guinea pigs. Im trying to find my guinnea pig a new home where she will be treated well but i dont know where to start. Does anyone on here have advice?
Hi Cheyenne, the best thing to do is to contact a rescue centre in your area. Avoid advertising on Facebook, gumtree etc as you piggy may well get into the wrong hands. I hope that helps x
a little last but look in the ole phone book or ask a pet store where what GUINEA PIG breeders they get theres from i am sure they will know someone who will take em
One of my Guinea Pigs is very agressive. It doesn't let me cut his fur. He is a peruvian Guinea Pig. What do you suggest me to do???
It sounds like he may not be used to being handled so maybe take him out for daily cuddles to get him used to you. Do this for a few days and when he's a bit more chilled try slowly and carefully trimming his hair. But take your time and have some veggies to hand to distract him. A piece of Romaine lettuce always goes down well with our piggies!
Ty because I'm getting a guinea pig
Can you do a video on nail trimming I need help doing it and how far do down you cut down the nail
