    That’s awesome! Using that machine for what it’s designed for rather than letting sit in a garage, keeping its resale value up.

      Maybe it will get more valuable as an example of longevity? Like I told a GM at a dealership, the odometer has 6 digits for a reason. 😄

    That shows me these bikes will last mileage wise. Some good points to note and watch for in the future, my riding style is more laid back so I might not be scraping boards but more time I get on mine the more I get comfortable leaning

      Great to hear this gives someone some reassurance. I had a couple of fellow riders ask me if I was going to get a new bike over the past year, like the current one is worn out or something...

    Great to see a bike getting well ridden like it was intended and designed to be. I just hit 50,000 miles on my 2015 Limited and recently had the 50k mile service done. While they were rebuilding the front suspension I had them install Harley’s chrome front end and Legend Axeo front suspension setup. I also updated the rear air shocks to Legend Revo-A coils and shocks. Took off for Sturgis.
    Really happy with it so far but started noticing a weird ball-bearing/rattle from the front end at speeds above 40mph while I was in Sturgis and had my local dealer here in Palm Springs,CA look at it on my way home. Sure enough, one of the front wheel bearings was signing off so I had them change both. No other issues. Ride safe...

      @RRatedCustoms  5 років тому +1

      That is awesome on upgrading the suspension and the miles! 👍
      Part of the reason I asked my insurance to try to avoid totaling my bike after being rear ended was so I can hit 100k. Right now the shop is waiting for new bags and rear fender and the bike has 86160 miles. So maybe in a month I will be back in the saddle and trying to stay ahead of your miles. 😄
      Please keep me posted on how the new suspension does for you.

      I had around 65K on my 2010 Ultra Classic before being knocked off it in Nov 2022..
      High fuel costs, weather & taxes in the UK will limit my riding on a 2019 model Ultra Limited bought last week.

    My '09 glide had 50,000 miles on it, the inner bearing and the front wheel bearings were the only replacements needed in the ten years I owned it. If you replace the wheel bearings with good American made ones you should no longer need replacements. Also, my bike had a grease nipple, from the factory for the front steering so I added grease every now and then, thus no problems. There is a good video on UA-cam on how to change front fork oil at 50,000 miles. I did it myself and noticed a real improvement in compliance. Don't use front fork oil that is higher weight than stock if you want to keep your cushy ride. Due to health complications I traded it in on a bike half the weight but I miss that big Harley immensely. I got a new Kawasaki W800 Street. It's great flickable fun but not nearly as comfy on the highway.

    Today I’m buying a 2015 Tri Glide that has 65K on it. The Harley dealer said the previous owner kept it well maintained, drove it long trips to Sturgis a few times but I’m still a bit nervous, the extended warranty is too much coin for me. Just hoping for the best. Videos like this are encouraging

    Hey Anthony, Bought mine in Feb 2018, same year and colour! It has 23,000 Miles on it after our Americade trip. Coolant leaking at high temps so I ran the diagnostics thru the bike and a code showed. Possible faulty water-pump. I heard this is common for these bikes around this year. Did you ever have an issue with yours? Thanks for the vids!

    Did you ever notice a sound from the front end that resembles the tire rubbing on the fender? I have a strange noise but when i put the bike in the air it’s not rubbing. How did you know when wheel bearing were going?

    • @RRatedCustoms
      @RRatedCustoms  5 років тому

      I had one that sounded like riding on pea gravel cement which could sound a bit like rubbing. The best way to find out is to take it to a reliable dealer.
      I had a 2009 Ultra Classic that went as far as showing the guts of the wheel bearings. Up until then I thought it was tire noise.

    • @RRatedCustoms
      @RRatedCustoms  6 років тому

      I run the stock Dunlop tires. I get about 12 out if the rear and about that out of the front. Since I do a lot of long distance riding and have the tire and wheel coverage through the extended warranty, they seem to be what is in stock at the dealers (if I have a puncture).

    cam chain tension pads been replaced?

    • @RRatedCustoms
      @RRatedCustoms  6 років тому +1

      Great question! Nearly all TC Harley riders have heard the stories on cam chain tensioner failure. Fortunately, the shop I trust my bike to for anything beyond oil changes keeps a good eye and ear on motors. So far they have not mentioned being replaced yet.
      Also, according Fix My Hog and a few other reliable sources, "You should not be concerned about inspecting them until somewhere between 80 and 100k. If you ever have your exhaust off before then, pull your cam cover and get a look at them. Just for piece of mind."
      Personally, I would love to go to a gear drive cam setup once the warranty is out.

    @josephtilotta9974 3 роки тому

    The cam chain tensioners I understand they won't go over 30,000 miles you're supposed to check them every 20 surely it doesn't have the stock ones still in it.

    • @RRatedCustoms
      @RRatedCustoms  3 роки тому

      That is only for the Cam chain tensioners that were spring loaded from 1999 to 2008.
      2009 and up TC motors had hydraulic tensioners which extended their life dramatically to the 100k

    • @RRatedCustoms
      @RRatedCustoms  Рік тому

      I had the original issue with the early models leaking. Then the coolant pump went out and temp sensor failed.
      The coolant pump went out again after 100k miles. The new one is from the Milwaukee 8 system that H-D sold as a kit for retrofitting to the TC103 twin cooled bikes.

    • @RRatedCustoms
      @RRatedCustoms  5 років тому +1

      Low speed turns, the Street Glide should have a lower center of gravity but the shorter rear shocks might let the pegs and Jiffy stand touch sooner than on a Limited.

    I’m thinking this is pushing me away from buying another Harley, so much added maintenance that other manufacturers just don’t have on their bikes…why does Harley have so many wear out parts when they could easily use better ??? Steering bearing? Really? Wtf Harley? I’m also finding that these “high mileage Harleys” have had a TON of repairs…thousands of dollars and then the owner will say…”50k thousand miles and still running!” Yeah, after you spent another 10k keeping it running.

    • @RRatedCustoms
      @RRatedCustoms  6 років тому +1

      Oh yes those rear speakers. Mine faded fast and then when I did Route 66 a couple of years ago, my pack I had in the saddle broke the plastic underneath.
      I think the fading bugs me more. A bike needs sunshine so why H-D did not use a more UV resistant material is puzzling.

  • @curtiswilson4483

    I just saw this video. Did you have an issue with the overhaeting problem? Did you have to replace the coolant/water pump?

    • @RRatedCustoms
      @RRatedCustoms  2 роки тому

      Back around 20k miles the temp sensor had to be replaced. Other than that the only cooling issues were just the recall on the radiator cap and the leaks which were covered under warranty.
      I had the coolant changed at the dealer at regular intervals. They have a device to be sure no air gets trapped in the system.
