Toyota has a huge problem and their lots are starting to pile up with expensive Toyota trucks and SUVs. In my last video I went to Ford, Chevy and RAM and I was totally shocked by how high the truck Prices were. In the comments section I was flooded with people asking me what was going on with Toyota. So in this video I want to answer that question. The first Toyota dealer I went to was somewhat sane when it came to pricing and even had a few discounts... but the second one seemed to think their stuff is still covered in Gold...

they are not flooded with expensive trucks, they are flooded with price gouging priced trucks.. there is a huge difference
it's not the trucks aren't selling because they are expensive, they are expensive because the government limits how many they can sell using regulations like the Corporate Average Fuel Economy standards and other Greenie regulations. since they can only sell a few they can jack the prices so only the rich can afford them. and they have to make thousands each to make up for the $33,000 they lose on every EV the government makes them sell. if you want to afford one vote Trump and get rid of CAFE and green government regulators.
💯 per-cent correct!

Pickup trucks the same price as semis is crazy
- Factory sticker on the Tundra’s 1793 edition is $110,000 without dealer mark up . That is their most expensive one . It’s Toyota’s version of Fords King Ranch edition. Actually the Toyota Tacoma is base priced $ 2,300 more than the Ford Ranger to be precise .

There’s only one thing dumber than these prices… the people willing to pay them. 🤮
They aren't. Hence why all of the used inventory is gone. You put any old truck up for sale and it's gone in 24 hours. For way over what any dealer would give you.
At least it's a well built Toyota. Can you imagine paying 70k+ for a Chevy or Ford 😂
My remote coworker show up once a week with his new truck to show it off by parking in the Handicap spot blocking the handicap sidewalk. He does save money working from home so he got a bigger truck.
they get forced into it and along with their ignorance set up a lower standard of living for the rest. corporations win, people lose.
@@Eddie4you I'd love to hear how people are getting "forced" into buying these expensive vehicles, which are luxury, discretionary items. The reality is for most people that can really afford 100k truck, an extra 10-20k over what the price "should" be doesn't make that much difference. It's Econ 101. The truck at price X is more desirable than the money in their bank. It's pretty simple and has nothing to do with ignorance.

tesla is so much easier. nobody is going direct to consumer since dem and republicans get money from car lobbyists. tesla is about only way to get out of this.

A 2024 Toyota Hilux 4x4 base model here in the Philippines is about $20,700 with the current peso conversion. The truck is diesel powered and has most options. There is no way to justify $80,000 plus for a new truck of any kind.

Well the tacoma looks way better than the hilux tho.
I’d buy a hilux in a heartbeat. They don’t sell them in the US. They seem to think everyone wants a Limousine with a truck bed.

You can buy a Hilux in Mexico.
It would be hard to feel bad for any dealer. They have been robbing people for years and taking advantage of individuals who are not financially savvy. I have zero respect or feelings for them. I would never purchase another car from a dealer.

Nah your crazy
Prices are out of control. Just imagine where they’ll be 10yrs from now? These people signed up for 60-84 month loans are out of their minds….
I read an article I think it said by 2040 you average car payment will be 100k
@@JLocautoI saw a UA-cam video in 2020 saying something similar. But it didn't say by 2040.it said the average person will be paying $100k for vehicles in the near future. All these automakers are price gouging consumers. They all partner in developing tech, from electronics, to engines and suspension. A lot of vehicles from competing brands ride on the same platforms. Saving them money to develop but costing the consumer thousands for purchase.
So I’m not sure I’ve ever understood this mentality of why saying people are out of their minds? A number of years ago I bought a used 2010 Camaro SS on an 84 month loan (for the lower payments) with little down. A few years later rates i refinanced it at another 84 months (rates were down I believe which is why I refinanced it)…between the lower rate and the lower balance again financed at 84 months the payment went down a fair amount. A few years later I sold it for $3,000 more than I owed on it. The interest is slightly higher at the longer term but the difference in interest cost over the period of time was pretty negligible. So why does that all equate to “out of my mind”? The payment was way less and as long as the value is not underwater what difference does it make in the end?
1 dollar a month for 300 yrs)
Not really. The people with credit so bad that they HAD to sign those loans will just stop paying the payments and will duck and avoid the repo man until they are caught. America, 2023.
Bottom line the Toyota trucks are not three-quarter or 1 ton trucks so the fact they’re asking almost 100 K for a half ton truck is insane
I'm guessing you haven't seen what ford wants for a 2023 F150 limited ?
A ford F-150 Raptor or Platinum is around $80k, add on $15k dealer markup and it’s comparable to a Tundra Capstone Hybrid. Personally I find these prices insane and wonder who’s buying them.
and big 3 don't? Hell even Nissan wanted to up their $ but fell short significantly when they wanted 55k for their SV 4x2 Titan. gtfoh.
Maybe not, but if the truck is in the shop frequently like some of the domestics, what good is it to someone as opposed to a Toyota which is far more reliable and stays on the road more and will outlast most of these domestics.
Dude, if you want a Toyota, buy it from Texas. They are way cheaper and nowhere near 100k. They are made here so it's definitely worth the drive.
You'd have to be a fool to buy any vehicle over sticker! The sticker price has an built in mark-up for the dealer already!
Yes
@@StrongerThanBigfoot The whole plan is doubly insidious as the idea is to creep the prices of ICE vehicle up to where EVs seem a reasonable lateral move.
Yes, they are moving the goal posts on us and suddenly $30K trucks are 50K... And it's why they only make high-end models as well. More profit.
To the point where even in this video, he's beginning to talk like 60-65K is now reasonable. NO, it's still a terrible deal.

Those trucks are piling up because most of us simply can't afford them.
All the auto manufacturers are doing the same thing, which is to produce the biggest most expensive vehicles they make at the expense of producing the lower cost smaller vehicles that the average American can afford. Everyone it fighting for those rich wealth customers and they are finding out there are not enough rich customers to go around. Even Jeep is trying to be a luxury brand now. It’s ridiculous.
That dealer specifically is known to sell "used" almost brand new vehicles for 20-30% over the new sticker price. I was in that dealer when I was buying out my lease and was walking around their lot and noticed many of the new vehicles had 200-300 miles on the odometer but the price was jacked up. Example, a 2022 Tundra TRD PRO was $105k used with 200 miles. They purposefully title and put only a few hundred miles and sell it as used so Toyota wouldn't penalize them for ripping of the consumer.
Uh that's pretty normal to have cars with 200-300mi on the dealer lot. how do you think they transport cars after they're manufactured? They drive them and the ODO goes up🤣🤣
True, but not only at that dealership. saw a 2019 Camry Se 69k miles for 29k at my local Toyota dealer.
whereas the Gov to stop these illegal loop hole using scum bags?
@@emp0rizzlethat is actually not normal at at. Do you realize what 200-300mi actually are on a car that’s sitting on a lot? That equates to a 4-6hour road trip, if as a customer you consider that new you are crazy and stupid. If a lot passes that as “new” they are straight up thieves. A quality lot will not have more than a few miles on a vehicle if selling as new, if it’s any kind of higher end vehicle it’s as close to zero as possible because they won’t even let most test drive unless they show commitment to purchasing it.
@@dgonzalez650 actually it is normal. 1) Delivery mileage, 2) people test drive cars 3) a new car is considered a car that has never been titled or leased.

I'm happy they have inventory to choke on, consumers should just not buy a new vehicle right now. There are dealers that didn't do this, and hopefully when prices drop, or stop increasing that dealer will have the unit I'm looking for.

@kennethb6211 that used to be a thing. Those v6 turbos will never last as long as the 5.7 v8... So long Tundra longevity😢
FWIW, the Tacoma does not come with a bed liner. The Tacoma has been using composite beds since the 2nd gen in the 2000's. The newest Tundra has started using this as well. They're very durable and the only time I've seen one broken was when it was impacted by something that would have easily damaged a steel or aluminum bed. The downside to these is that they're very slick so you'll often see bed mats in the back of Tacomas. Their lateral stability is also lower so you'll see bed stiffeners used if the person plans to load the bed rails in any way (Rooftop Tent, bed cap, etc) and go off-road.
We just need "Top end" models to be 40-45k and Base model 4runners and tacomas to be 29k The working class of america hasn't seen a wage jump of 50%..... Why is everything doubled in prices and our wages stayed the same
I purchased my 2022 Toyota Tundra Platinum ( in early 2022 I believe ) with every option you could spec; with some extra goodies too, and it was right around sixty five grand out the door. No way on Earth I would pay anything close to today's prices. The Tundra / Sequoia are great vehicles, but not worth that money - to be honest I felt sixty five was too much, but I purchased it anyway just after the Toyota announcement event.
All these dealers and OEMs are screwed with current interest rates. Even putting like half down on one of these trucks a person with good credit will be paying $1300 a month for like four five years. FOR A TRUCK! Who has $40K for a down payment let alone $1300 a month for a truck payment? I bought a 21 4Runner TRDORP back in 2021 for like $44K. Sold it for about the same price this year. I live in Houston, there is about 8 large Toyota dealerships in the area. They have absolutely no inventory of new vehicles on their lots. It’s been that way since Covid 19. Not seeing hardly any new Toyota trucks and suv being driven on the roads either. ?
I guess these prices aren't too bad if you compare it with the 115$ I spent on 2 bags of groceries 😢
Damn did you go to Costco?
My uncle bought his 2010 F150 for 22k back then and when I asked him what he tought about the prices he said he'd rather buy a totalled f150 and rebuild it instead of giving 70k for a new one. I think the same, I think these cars shouldn't be more than 30k but since companies keep adding more and more useless technology, we havw to pay for that
I do not understand how there are enough people willing to pay that much for an everyday vehicle like a pickup. The exception would be if it is for a business ... and even then, it seems like a waste of money. I've been in tech for many years, so I do quite well. I bought a 3 year old Mazda, 10 years ago, paid 12K for it. That is still my daily driver. I've only had minimal maintenance on it. Yes, it's time to replace it. It runs fine, but it's worn at 200K+ miles ... but how much money have I saved over the years?! I like seeing money in my brokerage rather than sending it to a finance company.
Just bought my wife a $52k OTD Lexus hybrid SUV, in cash. If I can’t afford the car tripled its price in cash, I can’t afford it.
Man, the 2 door taco cost a couple thousand less than my 19 f250 xlt. That’s insane! I also saw an XL f250 at a dealer near me that was more expensive than my 19. Unbelievable! Those were starting at 34k when I got mine.
They are also piling up on the repo lots.
Recently went to a Toyota dealership to talk about a 57k tundra they had advertised. Was told that it was their “ad vehicle” and they wouldn’t sell it. The only tundras they had for sell were all platinum or 1792 editions over 90k. Such a bait and switch, I left and won’t be purchasing a vehicle this year.
That is super shady but I see a ton of dealers doing that. They rope you in with the good deal and then try to sell you on something else. They'll even act like they just sold the advertised car.
82k for a V6 truck? 🤯
MSRP literally is the acronym for Manufacturers Suggested Retail Price…SUGGESTED. The average customer truly believes that they deserve a discount, which directly impacts their salesman’s income. So, They want to live well, while simultaneously making the salesman struggle.
Keep in mind, I ordered a top of the line XLS F150 4x4 with every upgrade for $ 11700 when I was 19 years old. Whats the chance a 19 year old could purchase a 90 to a 100k truck nowadays? Prices are out of control.

And what what was your base wage back then. In 1979 I could buy a car for $4000 but I was making 2.35 and hour.
10:13 Not just the look but the most practical truck. I bought the 2013 with the same trim level for 32K back in 2013. Most people don't need a full-size truck but they're still buying it because they want it. Then it sits mostly because of the cost to operate it, or they throw their money away driving it for non-essential reasons, like commuting or grocery runs. But that's their money lol.

I have some real concerns a bout the durability of their twin turbo, hybrid engines. I’d be reluctant to buy one without a longer track record in their trucks. Especially with hauling and towing wear. We got a 4Runner just because of the old tried and true 4.0L V6. She’s an outdated model but incredibly reliable.
If anyone can make them reliable It’s Toyota. But only time will tell. There will definitely be turbo issues.
I was looking for a base model Corolla earlier this year. Out of the three dealers in my area, only one had any in stock. Both had a $5,000 market adjustment and mandatory add on's that put both cars close to $33,000. I went with another brand. I always had positive experiences with Toyota in the past. I have no desire to deal with their greedy dealerships again.
Same is true here in Dallas. Base model Corollas have a 5k market adjustment. Demand for Corollas is extremely high and supply is very low.
geesh. rwd tesla model 3 is sub 30k after rebate. know its bad when corollas more expensive than tesla lol
First, Lets back up a bit, When you say piling up? This is finally getting back to normal or still below normal inventories from years back. I remember back in the 80s we have over 800 cars and trucks on the lot! Yes, Prices are up, No question, But this is normal for dealers to have inventory folks
Keep the truth outta these comments. No one wants to hear this is normal. It doesn’t generate clicks.
Back to normal isn’t just about total number of vehicles on the lot. If you have a lot full of high trim model and mid tier and low to none of the entry level that’s a problem. Back to normal would be having more low-mid trim that you move and just enough of the high trim models that take longer to sell.
I realize the '24 Taco's are probably due anytime now, but '23's at 3K off the sticker is something I've never seen in my area. However, my local Yoda dealer (Charlotte, NC) doesn't have near the inventory as Edmark. Kinda strange as my local dealer is part of the Hendrick Automotive Group, and they have nearly every brand of vehicle made under that umbrella.
Repos are going to be totaling more than new trucks on the lots
Not only are car manufacturers charging so much but the dealers make it worse.
Obviously we still have consumers who are dumb enough to pay these prices. What I still don't understand are the banks that are still approving these loans at these inflated prices. If they experience increased default rates the banks are going to get bitten by those big loans when they try to sell the reclaimed vehicle at auction. Due to circumstances I was forced to buy in 2021 and 2023. It took a long time to find what I considered fair deals on used cars both times, it was a lot of work.
Then they'll just get bailed out again. No worries.
More banks are now denying these loans and this is why you seeing all these trucks piling up at dealerships
After you pay sales tax and registration fees these vehicles are WELL OVER 100K.
Folks, not only that these trucks are expensive, you'd have to also consider how much it cost to maintain every year... i.e., maintenance, fuel, oil changes, new tires, etc. And also, after the warranty expires, that is when you will pay more out of pocket for repairs or replacement. Like the transmission for example, the problem doesn't start til 80-100K miles. That will hit you at 5 to 12 thousand. So, you are looking at 200-300 thousand for the life of the truck.
It took me 20 years to pay off my 85k house. ILL BE DAMNED IF I EVER PAY THAT FOR A PICKUP !
These dealers do not want to accept that the covid market is long over. They are trying to set a new standard in the industry by overcharging for vehicles. In a crashing economy, it's not a good idea. They are also out pricing their market. These dealers' markets are the everyday working class person. 100,000 dollar trucks are not your everyday working class person. Honestly, I hope they bankrupt themselves with their nonsense and do not get bailed out this time when they do so.
Who can afford $60,000 or $50,000 , those are insane prices !!
They don't want people to drive cars anymore.
2023 Ram 1500 Classic is now rated more reliable than Toyota Tundra by Consumer Reports, for the first time ever in history. And much cheaper too, as low as $30K. Go Japanese doesn't mean more reliability anymore. Times have changed now.
My local Honda dealer will put one model of each car on the lot, and you ask about the Accord they say that is the only one of the lot. Drive around the blind turn and there is parking lot full of them, over 25 Accords. Our local Dodge and Jeep dealer has every vacant lot full of their vehicles sitting forever.
Every manufacturer has added so many electronic additions their prices have to be ridiculous. I don't need lane warnings, my car to parallel park itself, forward collision control or any if this crap they keep adding. 2011 prices were already starting to climb. Porsche Boxter was 64k, Lincoln MKT was $66k and a Ford Flex was 48k.
Here in west Houston, went to local dealership to palce an order on a Tacoma TRD Pro, total cost(TT&L included) $69k. Got up and left.
You did the right thing
Dude im still rocking my 2004 sonoma. I want a new truck but 50k plus is insane. I bought my Sonoma cash 7000 bucks back in 2007 with 30k miles.
In 2007 I bought a 2004 taco PreRunner for $12,200. It had 66,666 miles on it (I took that as a sign). Anyway, I still have that truck, it runs just fine. But I also just purchased a 2020 Frontier SV 4x4 Crew Cab with 18k miles for $23,500 in June. It’s loaded with all kinds of features that I wasn’t used to. I still love the taco but I love the frontier too.
The beds on the Tacoma is not a bed liner your seeing it is a composite bed that is black. No more steel and if you buy or have one its a really good idea to get corner brackets to reinforce the corners by the tailgate.....it will possibility or eventually split the bed.
Bro idk why UA-cam is not showing notifications for your channel when i have the bell activated and im subscribed 🤦🏽♂️
Check and see if you have notifications allowed in the app. You on the phone watching?
@@MotorFeed yes everything’s on
Sometimes it shows it sometimes it don’t but no worries
Im tunning it
Great video im actually thinking about buy a new vehicle
Trying to decide between a Jeep rubicon or a Tundra maybe a Tacoma MAYBE
Thanks for watching! sometimes YT delays the notifications. It's really random sometimes.
My closest Toyota dealer still has nothing on the lot, apparently there is a pecking order for inventory. Going to wait another year when the 25's come out and see where things are with prices and the economy.
It's all about allotment at Toyota, and you use that as leverage when buying one.
I ordered a Sienna in April of 2022. A year later it finally arrived. Seven months later, still waiting for my second key.
Out here on the west coast in California. They are getting those prices... They sell like crazy!
Makes sense. Cali is full of crazy people. Haha.
Californians are generally not rocket scientists…
This is due to the highest per-capita percentage of rich Democrats and with 4-year college degrees living only in California state. Our state is proud of this achievement.
@@waltchan Never confuse education with intelligence.
If I spent 96 thousand dollars on a truck, I’d have to keep it for 96 thousand months to break even.
My Tacoma TRD pro was $41k out the door in 2017. Nothing has been updated since
I will keep my 2015 tundra SR5 forever. I paid 31k for it back then and it still worth 20k after 8 years with 70k miles odometer. Price inflation is out of control.
Thanks brandon
I’m selling a car for under 8 k. And I have over 400 people look at it in the last week. Something is going on !😢😢😢😢
I had a similar experience last summer with selling a Honda Accord for $9k. I sold it 12 hours after listing for $500 over asking. The response was overwhelming.. and that car had been rear ended 3 times but the demand for a reliable sub $10k car is very high.
Few months ago, Toyota dealers did not have many cars. Now, they have many cars but expensive in prices. I wanted to buy RAV4 but switched to Tesla Model Y both both reasons above
I bought 3 new vehicles when married to my first wife. 75 pinto wagon, 79 olds cutlass, 86 pontiac grand am and in 2002 i bought a 99 z3. All junk. Frankly i pray every day they all go out of business. No vehicle built after 1999 is worth owning at any price, even free.
I'm riding out this vehicle price insanity in my cherry 1996 Ford Aerostar. It's crazy good for utility, comfort and sex appeal. If one can avoid the new vehicle cult, just keep repairing what you have if it makes sense or buy a used reliable brand and keep that up. I figure an annual repair cost of $1500 or thereabouts is totally acceptable for a good used reliable brand.
I'm glad to see car manufacturers saying to hell with the poor and just making vehicles for the good people in America
In the class of PickUps it's the same here in Europe/GER, too. By the MYs from '22 for example the Toyota Hilux as DubleCab 2.8 AT in a 'mid' trim is hardly to get under 50k Euro.
The same you can see on the Isuzu D-Max, Ford Ranger or VW Amarok which by now play in the same or even highter price level. Prior it was common that you could get one of these in a nice
configuration level for around 40k to max. ~45k Euro and in previous models there were even bigger engines in size availible like a 3.0 Diesel paired to MT /AT for the Toyota Hilux.
But yes even small cars like a VW Polo, Golf or other availible hatchbacks are now starting at least from 30k+ and small ones hardly under 18k+. Only one you can get new for 'cheap' is
the MY'23 Mitsubishi SpaceStar at around 14k Euro but it is even smaller than a Polo or Yaris...
I just bought, my first import, my 2023 fully loaded 1794 Texas edition and added retractable steps for 43k cash. Looked at RAM but ill keep my diesels, so your confusing me.
My screen is huge!
Chevy gas- 110k loaded and electric 120v plugs suck!
Ford gas- stripped 47k loaded 65-85.
Dodge diesels -95k loaded
My Toyota is a limited 1794 , package, 4X4, full HUGE back seat. 43k. No trade just wanted a new truck. Never owned an import, well made in TX, but I'm enjoying the extras and I don't usually care but love it!!! This Tundra 1794 TX edition, 4X4, and so far it's surviving my ranch.
Stickers are printed at dealership, my father, don't deceased, owned a Chevy dealership.
why does the sequoia start at 60k (more than the suburban!) and has a turbo engine instead of a v8? why doesnt it sell alex. i'll take that question
Always enjoy watching your car price reviews. If you can, try to look at the other foreign truck maker Nissan.
I bought my 2006 Tundra off the showroom floor in December of 06 for $25,900. Crew cab 4x4 V8 SR5. It was almost $9000 off MSRP as the new body style was just introduced. It has just shy of 200,000 miles and I'm ready for something smaller. I'll try my luck the last week of December and make a few local dealers compete for my money. If not I'll wait until next year when the inventory is really thick.
I bought a 94 Toyota Celica in 2019 for $600.00 and restored it. Now it's worth a Fortune and i will not sell it. I just drive thru the parking lot at a local TOYOTA Dealership and laugh all the way to the bank.
Tell them to take that pulse brake light off 😂 it supposedly violates federal law regarding stop lamps. Standard no. 108.
Nothing frustrates me more than gimmicky bs add-ons.
I just wish they'd make theTundra grilles a little bigger.
😂
I'm in Southern California and I'm not seeing these prices. There are markups on the Corolla, Prius and Camry (all the eco cars) but the 4runner, Tundra and Sequoia are all at MSRP
I said NOPE to a new truck, but last January I found a 1998 Dodge 1500 Laramie SLT Quadcab with a 360 Magnum engine, 4 speed auto. Off road kit, 2" factory lift, full skid plates, tow package, and color matched fiberglass campershell, as well as color matched bedliner.
This truck had 65,000 miles on it, and it's Viper red! I paid $8,500.00 For this vehicle with no rust! All it needed was new tires, stereo, & rear bumper...all for less than $1,400.00 got your calculator, that's $9,900.00 for a near perfect truck. It's just a 25 year old truck & the good body style!!!
2023 Ram 1500 Classic is now rated more reliable than Toyota Tundra by Consumer Reports, for the first time ever in history. Comes with a 3.6L V6 non-turbo, fuel-injection only. And much cheaper too, as low as $30K. Go Japanese doesn't mean more reliability anymore. Times have changed now.
@@waltchan As low as 30K, if you think that is low, you have spent way too much time in Washington DC... I can remember when 30K was a good down payment on a house!!!
@@blankeny Yes, 30K is still a bit of money today (but not terribly expensive), but this is the cheapest you can get with a pickup truck now. 20 years ago, it was $20K, according to inflation calculator.
@@waltchan I guess you can't read?
I posted I just purchased a like new truck for $8500.00 there are deals out there, you just have to turn over a few leaves...
If you're rich and can afford these trucks then who cares how much it costs, if you're poor and can manage to get financed on one of these thats alright because then I get to buy it 6 months later for tens of thousands of dollars less after it gets repoed. Win win.
The cars have a defective price tag. The 4 has a line at the top and is appearing as a 9. I'm sure they will solve the issue shortly. Stay tuned...
Also love the High West hat. Was just there.
