That's because when singing you usually don't have enough time to properly breathe all the air you need, so you have to use both, but it's best if you don't.
Facts are facts....she has a voice on the squeaky side and shallow sounding. That's not an insult. It's a statement of fact. Not right, not wrong, just is.
Sierra's voice is totally normal and this topic is absolutely valid, why are people getting so bent out of shape? Vocal training is something really important for a lot of people, especially women and transgender people. It affects self esteem, how well people can understand and hear you, whether you have to fight to be taken seriously in a workplace, etc. Also did any of these commenters consider why this topic is being discussed now, when one of the hosts is suffering from a condition that is affecting his speech? Does this not occur to them as something affecting Bob's life? Thanks for discussing this topic and all this good information.
This comment section is full of misogyny. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with Sierra’s voice. She’s obviously a very knowledgeable woman, so all these insecure people are trying to bring her down with their unnecessary criticism.
To negative commenters: not every video is going to apply to YOU! I’m an OT working in partnership with a speech therapist and most of our patients have Parkinson’s or other neuromuscular conditions such as stroke or ALS. They’re looking for help making audible vocalizations that don’t take all their strength and energy! They’re not looking for the prettiest voice in town, and that’s not what this therapist is here to talk about. Unfortunately many speech therapists I’ve worked with in the past didn’t look at positioning or breath work enough (they did more oral motor). Grateful for SLPs who know what’s up like Sierra.
One hears so many women who have high-pitched, whiny, nasal, irritating voices. I don't think this Sierra's voice is pleasing at all! She has correct information about breathing, etc. One cannot change the formation of one's mouth and nasal cavities, but surely nobody HAS to sound like that!
@@sula1529 No they are saying she ends all her sentences with a higher pitch like it's a question. Typically young insecure girls speak this way. Maybe she had an off day. I'm not being mean but it is noticeable.
She’s probably from California or the west coast at least. That’s literally how a lot of us learn to speak as kids, it’s a part of our accent. I do it, my mom and my aunt do it, and we’re all professional women but our accent just causes certain intonation. The same way a southern accent or an east coast accent would. It’s no different.
Sierra raises her pitch at the end of too many phrases (for my taste) which comes across as lacking confidence. It's a female vocal trend just like fry. I find this interesting given her credentials.
Choice between skeleton or young woman who I guess doesn't feel she speaks well..perfect I'm deaf.i decided to do sum bridge yoga on bedding last nite..today I barely walk..I feel the muscles that run along my spine.what could happen b crippled..when washing sum t shirts in bathtub with toilet plunger ( green) cardio for arms shoulder, heart.clothes come out clean, hang, smell like bacon, bath next to kitchen.also doing kneel down on calfs open up knees.

This lady is very informative. I'm definitely going to check out her channel. Thanks Bob and Brad for inviting her.
Sierra, as a medical SLP, I say, "Great job!" Your information was beneficial, clear and easy to grasp.
Fellow SLP!! 🎉
Thanks Bob and Brad, for helping all of us so much 💐
My voice coach taught me to breathe through my mouth and nose when I sing.

The comments ???
There is literally nothing wrong with sierra’s voice ! Stop harassing her
People are unbelievably rude behind a screen , so pathetic
These people are wierd lol.

I’m surprised people criticised her voice! She sounded intelligent and clear.
Love this channel !

Lmao Brad roasting this guy hardcore! 🤣
I speak English in my normal everyday voice, but when I speak a foreign language, my pitch is much higher.
Interesting stuff. Thanks to all 3 of you!
That was so interesting. Now I know I need to work on my breathing and articulation.
Can this be the first time they've ever heard of Oregon?

There's literally no misogyny comment. There are like three dudes unnecessarily criticizing her but that's it.
🤡🤡🤡
I like her voice. Very feminine and youthful.
A woman being criticized is not misogyny but luckily the comment section is actually full of praise; people love focusing on the negative
There is no place for the word “misogyny” here. Take your woke comment elsewhere.
Great video 💖👍💕
I hate my voice
My vocal problems is slightly slurred speech. So now I'm wondering if Sierra has a video on fixing that.
Like, you know, a video on fixing slurred speech.

Sierra’s voice has some characteristics that are a bit raspy.
A touch of vocal fry.
Peule.
the comment section is very disappointing

You are hearing her voice through a mic and internet connection. Her voice is good.

It seems like she's trying to conceal a "valley girl" accent.

She sometimes has vocal fry…very irritating.
Bob and Brad… you have lost me. With nonsensical video.
Oh nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo......... not.
Agree. They aren’t doing adequate research.
