- In this video, I take a look at discoDSP's OB-Xd, a VST synth which emulates and improves upon a classic analogue subtractive synth. It has a number of nice features to help it sound more organic, and comes with a huge range of presets.
It was free for non-commercial use at the time of recording, but now sells for $49, which gives you a licence for commercial use and also extra plugin formats (AAX, VST3 and LV2). The Demo includes fully functional Standalone app, Audio Unit and VST plug-ins.

THIS WAS SUCH A GOOD TUTORIAL - you did something no one else is doing.
I finally got around to it and watched the whole thing. I knew it would be worth the time. Really good and detailed presentation. Over 41 minutes and not a single boring moment. Thanks for sharing.
Btw, a few notes about the filter: the multi knob actually morphs between 3 filter types, lowpass (at zero), notch (at 12 o’clock) and highpass (at maximum). Engaging the BP button turns the notch filter into a bandpass filter so you can then morph between LP, BP and HP. The 24db button indeed makes the slope steeper but the multi knob is still very much functional: you can now morph between a 24db and a 6db slope. You’re right that in the 24db mode, the BP button doesn’t affect the sound at all. Other than that, great vid!
Excellent video, thanks!
exactly the video that I searched for. Thank you!
Easy and fun to play around with! :D
This may be an older version, but the newest version has the ability through the Menu button to show the "Preset Bar". Then you have arrows to scroll through. I use gig performer and was able to create a rackspace with a patch dial that displays the name as well. Now I am wishing for a bank select option :)
Better patch management, a preset bar and a scalable GUI (up to 2x with retina support) coming soon as v2.5 rolls out!
Look forward to that - sounds like some great improvements.
thanks dude, this was the tutorial I needed right now! Now I'll try to customise one preset, which is cool but not perfect yet 😎
Glad you found it useful!
