I think this is smart. Very smart. Because so many people (probably me 😊) really underestimate pointe dancers and the pain they have to go through. Could you also add something for people at home on how to do pointe when you can’t afford the shoes or how to make your own??
@@GirlPower-wb8wj glad that this might be helpful for you! I think making your own pointe shoes would be extremely difficult, I haven’t heard of people doing this before and I don’t know how to do it. It could be quite dangerous for your feet as they need the proper support that a pointe shoe provides. 🙈 it’s a pretty cool idea though! And if I ever find a person who DIYs pointe shoes I’ll make sure to let you know x
Just got my second pair of point shoes today, and I'm so excited!! My first pair was not fitted very well, and its caused me to get really far behind the rest of the girls in my class as well as caused a bit of an injury, so I'm really hoping that this pair works well. 😊
When I got my first pair of pointe shoes I used to microwave them so the shank would mould to my feet as they felt very straight. The only problem I found was that the block became very soft so didn't microwave my second pair as much and then swapped from Sansha to Grishko as my feet were stronger and they looked nicer, so didn't want to microwave anymore. Also, I thought it might not be too hygienic to keep putting my shoes in the microwave... Also, the gaynor minden look really lovely!
Oh my goodness! Thank you for your comment, I really wanted to know what happens when someone microwaves their pointe shoes. That is so interesting. I do like gaynor minden, one day I should buy a pair for a video review
I wear Merlet Diva too. Extra reinforced ha. Been through all brands and was in despair! No shoes fit me! Then I found the Merlet brand by chance and I LOVE them. Very underrated brand! Xx
I would love to see a video of you try all the breaking in methods your fans suggest, or that you find online. Sounds like an expensive video, maybe you could get a dancewear or shoe company to sponsor. EDIT: What do you do with your old shoes? A friend of mine had so many she turned them into a statement wall in her foyer. I wish I had taken a pic, because it looked super cool.
Yes, i really want to do the breaking in video, but would probably need that sponsor you were talking about. lol. My old shoes I usually use for photoshoots as the outdoor locations pretty much destroy them.
I just got my second pair of pointe shoes a month ago, and I can't seem to break them in. Both pairs are russain pointes, and I am starting to think that I should try some other pairs. My first pair worked awesome and I broke them in very well. If I wore them for a few more classes I think they would've died. LOL I am thinking about trying Gaynors because I tried them on once and they fit great and were very comfortable. The next time I need new ones I will probably get Gaynors. Could you make one about breaking pointe shoes? Or yeah do a part two of this video. Thank you so much!!!! P.S. I am also a Christian(:

If you're looking for some really comfy pointeshoes I recommend the Bloch European Balance. They have a little cussion in the tip so that really helps if you don't like wearing toepads. First I had freed studios, but they were too big because my teacher gave them to me a couple of minutes before class and didn't REALLY look, so that resulted in me turning out my legs (and feet) on pointe but my pointeshoes just staying the way they were. So I turned in the shoe a vit and the sole just twisted... Not so nice, also the shank would bend but on the demi-pointe area the didn't point all the way, so again, I pointed my feet in the shoe but the shoe stayed... So then when the freeds were too soft, I got professionally fitted in Berlin ("pro danse" - really nice shop) and the lady gave me bloch european balance with other toepads. But then I still kept wearing tge freeds bc they weren't unwearable yet. When I then wore The blochs with toepads, they were SO tight! my toes actually got numb in like 10 seconds so I taped my feet and wore them without the toepads, which actually made dancing a lot easier! I could kind of feel the floor, control the pointeshoe and well, just feel my feet and the shoe. But when dancing too long in a cold room they did also kind hurt, my feet felt so cold and stiff and locked... But my teacher really loved these on my feet and was really happy with my pointe work all of a sudden. Now I have freed studio pros. In my first lesson I wore them without toepads... Horrible decision! But with toepads I love dancing in them! I love how light weight they are!
Thank you for sharing! loved hearing about your pointe shoe journey so far. I think you make a valid point when you say that the type of shoe you wear really effects the way you dance. I found the different shoes I tried would make me dance differently. Often a misfitting shoe would definitely have a negative impact on the quality of my dancing. Its so important to find the shoes that work for you!
I hate how most pointe shoes look on my feet just because it’s hard to see my arch in anything but my usual flats and it’s ya know painful. So I got euro balance from block and they were really comfortable and really helped me get better with my pointe technique but I only got to use them for a month cause then we got quarantined and we weren’t doing pointe and then I broke my foot anyways point(ha ha pointe) is they looked really bulky and did not accentuate the look of my feet so when I finally go back on pointe I want to find a shoe that accentuates my foot
Yes, when I got my first pair of pointe shoes my arch seemed non existent, but I found the more you work in them and solidify the technique the better your feet look in them. So sorry to hear you broke your foot, I wish you a speedy recovery so you can get back to pointe again soon :)
I no longer train in rhythmic gymnastics anymore but I do have some other videos on my channel that involve apparatus difficulties if you want to check them out x
Aw man! That must be so frustrating! But use this as a motivator to get your feet even stronger in lockdown so when you finally get your shoes you can feel best prepared! You got this :)
so helpful😍!!! i was supposed to be getting my pointe shoes at the end of november but because of quarantine i’m not going to get them until January😭😭!!!!
I wanna know the outcome. Did the microwave explode or did the pointe shoes explode? 😂🤣🤣 Thank you Hannah for making me laugh so much 😂 I like your videos!! xx
I recommend putting rice bags in your boxes right after you do pointe work, and whenever you aren't using them. You can easily make a rice bag with an old pair of tights.... just google how to xD
gaynor mindens i tried on and the fitter said that because I have high arches and flexible ankles that the shank might feel good but the box is too soft
It seems I have/may have, save arch problem as you, little to none, any hints/advice on strengthing/ developing arch? I have tried a Terra Band, - green one, but nothing, same problem with my ankles, rite 1 ok, lift one, wet paper→tissue, after 2 strokes also my weaker side, time 2 kill 2 birds with 1 brick/boulder. the intenser the better, would rather stretch/strength/ severely ache/strain - bruise ankle than sprain/break it. Many many thanks (please, please, pleace, [all help appreciated] 😖💃, sometimes, I wish it could be cut and stretch that way or have a permanent solid arch support inserted into the muscle, like a pita pocket :-) (please, please, pleace, [all help appreciated]
Obviously I am not a health professional or a shoe fitter so I can not give you professional advice, but from my own experience a toe separator would definitely help, and I would suggest trying to get a new pair of shoes, perhaps even a different brand?
@@HannahMartinRG Thank you sooo much! I talked to my teacher and she gave me another great solution. Do you think getting thinner toe pads would work?? I'm definitely trying a different size at my next fitting.
