If I used a riser base under the P2 to gain more room under it and situate the RA2 rotary tool inside the riser base, could I securely mount a 8" diameter wood bowl sideways (with the jaws grabbing a 2.5" wide tenon on the bowl bottom)? I'm a wood worker and make bowls on my wood lathe from different pieces of wood. I want use the P2 to engrave a 1" wide band around the entire outside wall of a wood bowl with different patterns within the banding. The RA2 base would be reversed and raised up at least 2-3 inches on a wood block to give extra clearance for the wide 8" bowl diameter. The elevated RA2 base would be bolted down to a larger moveable plywood base to prevent it from tipping over while holding the bowl in its chuck jaws. Would the Creative Space program settings on the P2 allow for a 8" wide bowl to be engraved sideways like this? Thank you.
Hi! I know you can raise the P2 (and riser) even high if needed (just adding more blocks under the machine to keep rising it to the height that you need to clear for your bowl. Because if this, you probably could do a full engrave around an entire bowl, if you use the chuck accessory to hold onto the foot of the bowl.
If it wasn't for you I would never feel confident with this machine!! Thank you soooo much for learning and teaching. You have been a lifesaver lol I have seriously left your channel running all day to see what else I could learn haha

I've seen people print their engraving on a plain piece of paper and line up the design to the piece of paper. Then take the paper off easily (so you don't knock it off) then engrave.
I do think the green line is supposed to be on the highest point. So moving it to the left as you did for the 2nd tumbler might have put the laser head out of focus? Great results anyhow.
@@ashleefalco True. Sometimes you can find more information in their Knowledge Base. For example they have a video (watch?v=0axM8jU8GdM) on using the RA2 with the P2. And I am fairly sure, I've read that the "yellow line" (which in my case is green?) is supposed to be on the highest point, but I can't find it anymore. I might just contact support if I am going to use my RA2 for the first time :-). On the other hand I just randomly found an article on "Measure Manually the Focal Distance for xTool P2" which has a nice focusing tool. ;-)
what tray level is your pan at ?
It will depend on how thick (wide, size) your tumbler is.

I would love if xtool had more tutorials on how exactly to use their accessories. A lot of these machines is trial and error.
