One of the better Epiphone Casino or ES330 Alternatives

- Here I take a close look at the Eastman T64/V, Eastman's take on the popular Epiphone Casino/Gibson ES-330 style guitar. I give you my impression of the Antique Varnish finish used for this line, cover the main specs, and and talk about the build and materials quality.
Of course I provide sound demos, both in isolation and in a mix, and wrap up with my final thoughts.

Great playing! I tried a T64v last year and was blown away by it. I'm getting one.
Nice. I hope you love it.
Great review, as always, Leonard! Very nice ES and your impeccable chops definitely add to the overall appeal! Love your tone, also!! Thanks!! 😎
Thanks so much. Appreciated.
Great playing.
Thank you so much.
Super as usual Leonard🎸🎸 I have seen all your reviews of these eastmans and I am really tempted to splash out on one. Probably the t484 or t486....
Thanks so much.
I love the anitque varnish finish of the Eastman. Awesome guitar, quality up there with the best
They are quite nice.
Jazz Blues, or Blues Jazz, it really doesn’t matter when you’re tearing it up!!
Great review!!!
How about just, me doing something on guitar. LOL. Thanks my friend.
your playing is great man
Thanks so much and thanks for watching.
Brilliant video Leonard, you sold it to me I’m thinking I’m gonna flip some guitars and buy one!!!!! Great playing as always, take care
✌️🧷🎸
Thanks my friend. Hopefully you can get your hands on one to see if it’s going to work well for you.
Happy with my Casino - made in PRC a few years ago but now with Lollars, Bone Nut, 50s Wiring etc - lovely BUT I would love one of these. The Eastmans I have tried are all terrific . . .
With the upgrades I imagine your Casino is pretty close. Then Eastmans are quality instruments, though. Thanks so much for watching
Very tasteful playing as always. If you get the opportunity, I’d love to see a review of the Reverend Club King 290 and the Harmony Silhouette.
Thanks so much much. I’ve reviewed one Reverend and one Harmony, but not this specific models.
Sounded great live. And it was light...
It is that for sure. I do enjoy the sound.
Really nice-sounding and nice-sounding guitars. I think this one could be very tonally versatile: Some Jazz tones in the neck pickup. Some twang or Country or Rock tones in the bridge. Some R&B and Funk sounds with both pickups.
I have three semi-hollow Epiphones. Aside from a weight difference, I wonder how this (fully) hollowbody guitar would feel at band practice or gig volumes? I wonder if I’d play it differently than the semi-hollowbody guitars due to some difference in its construction?
Well, I actually did play it for a portion of one show. It did quite well. Sounded beautiful. Of course you have to be aware of the lack of upper fret access (unless you have long, Jimi Hendrix fingers maybe), but traditional blues doesn’t require a lot of high register work so it was no problem for me, but it just depends on your approach. Thanks so much for watching.
I'd love to hear this accompany a Gretsch. Bet they'd sound great together.
I’m sure they would. Thanks so much for watching.
Cannot unsee the green tuners.
That's jade, baby...
😆. I think they’re probably a little more green on camera, but yeah, relic tuners are usually somewhat greenish. Presumably an approximation of what age does to vintage plastic. Of course the standard, non-relic version has nice, new looking tuners. Thanks for watching.
Cheaper than my USA made Epiphone Casino, maybe i can try one soon
Thank you my friend. It’d be interesting to see how it stacks up against the USA Casino.
@@leonardgriffieblues5845 yeah. The USA is a lot of guitar. I sold my Chinese ones off. They had been upgraded as well, everywhere. Eastman have a decent rep.
🙂🙂🙂🙂
Thanks my friend
Sounds incredible, but I have to wonder... why not just buy a Gibson since the Eastmans seem to be about 9/10 of the Gibson price?
Well, the fact is, Gibson hasn’t made the ES-330 (closest Gibson equivalent) for quite a few years and used examples typically run in the $4K range, with an occasional example showing up for maybe $3500. The USA Casino is $3500 new with some dealers discounting them to $3,000. The Eastman, brand new is about $2K or less. And used can be found for as little as $1200 to $1400 on average. If you don’t need the reliced, antique varnish model, they’re about $1800 new. So rather than 90% of the price, it’s really more like 50% on average.
Thanks so much for watching.
eastmans are way to expensive , you can get the same guitars ( ES 335/330 ) from stanford ( see maybach /i music germany ) for a lot less money and there just as good .
They do look promising but are somewhat rare in the US. On Reverb for instance, there are virtually none outside of Europe. If they become available in the US, I’d be happy to review one. Thanks for watching.
