- I have reviewed my Ruger American 350l on many videos and I recently acquired a Savage Axis bolt rifle. I compared these two rifles using my handloaded Hornady 170 sp, part number 3501. Enjoy the accuracy testing as well as the chronographic information.

I have a Winchester FTX and a Savage 110 with heavy barrel and no feed magazine issues. I have taken 8 deer with them, all one shot kills. I load Hornady 165 grain FTX bullets to 2,250 fps. Friends at my club who have Ruger rifles had feed issues. They were riding the bolt instead of working it briskly.
I have a 110 in 204 Ruger, and it feeds like butter. It is far superior to the cheaper acis Bolt action, I would say between the three, the Winchester probably feeds the best and then a close second with a savage and Ruger. I have shot hundreds around through my Ruger and never had an issue. It’s clear when I shoot it it is not exactly a Remington 700. But it gets the job done for the few days that I kill deer. I’m guessing I have shot over 30 deer with the Ruger. I also have one in 450 and they share duties.
Thanks for the video, however, you left me more confused then educated.
Them be some sexy looking bullets! Good shooting too.
My savage axis 2 in 350 legend has the same mag problems called savage they sent a new mag. Still have the feed problems unless I push the mag in and hold it. Other the that I really like it.
Ruger is a great shooter, I sold mine, that mag sticking out, likes to eat at my back, got on my nerves
Carrying it hrs at a time, what break is that on the Savage?
The savage was a 3” group at 191 yards? Brother in law has a Mossberg in 350 and at 100 yards it post 2.5 to 3” groups with just about every ammo we’ve tried.
And Mossberg doesn’t care so looking for a accurate rifle to replace it. Thanks for anything you can think of with this
I have never seen a review of a Mossberg where they shot anywhere as good as a Savage or Ruger. I’ve never seen a rifle that shot very good either. Every Ruger ranch that I have tested has been very accurate. This Savage is on par with them also.
I’ve had really good luck with savage rifle, shooting well. Everything I read about Mossberg’s demonstrate mediocre to poor accuracy. All of the Ruger rifles that I have tested which is about 12, shoot lights out so I will stick to them. CVA cascade looks like a beautiful gun if you’re spending money.
Have you had any feeding problems with the ruger ranch?
No, feeds better than my 450 for sure.
Why would you buy another rifle in the same cartridge as you already have? Especially one with feeding issues from Savage.
Well, it’s a little complicated but I bought a lot of firearms from one guy and it happen to be in the lot. I thought I would tie with it and see if I liked it. As it turned out, I didn’t. I have already sold it to another. If I was the king of the world, I would buy a howa mini action, carbon, fiber, stocked ultralight.
Time for a spotting scope if you are routinely shooting for groups, even an inexpensive one.
