- We go over the differences in our 350 Legend set up in this part 1 episode. Part 2 will be coming soon with some range shooting, and our thoughts on the Leupold VX Freedom 350 Legend CDS scope.
I am not "restricted" here in Texas. But I'm onboard, I'm waiting on my last part to complete a 350 Legend AR with a 16" barrel for shooting hogs. My 7.62x39 drops hogs just fine, the 350 Legend with about the same velocity but with heavier hunting bullets should be a devastating thumper on hogs. Energy and power seems to be somewhere between 7.62x39 and moving on up close to the .30-30 level, and I love my .30-30. An AR with a full mag of 350 Legend ammo and a group of hogs should be a lot of fun. A ".30-30" in a semi auto AR platform was too intriguing to pass up.
We have really enjoyed shooting them!
Got mine in a Savage Axis ii stainless... I absolutely fell in love with the firearm out the gate.
Points fast light weight handy and of course the recoil is pleasant and surprisingly soft.
I've shot everything available for the Legend to date and honestly nothing prints over 1 and a half inches at 100 yards. My Savage prefers the Federal 180 grains as well as the Winchester 180 grains... both of which are sub MOA.
Thanks for sharing this video brother and keep them coming 🙂
Southeast Ohio here. The 350 legend is the perfect round for Ohio hunting. Nice video fellas!
We hunted southeast Ohio a few years ago. That inspired this purchase.
Thanks guys. Nice to hear all three experiences. I went in for the Ruger myself. We don't have any straight walled cartridge restrictions here but I just liked it.
Thats exactly the same ss us... just got because we liked it.
I live in Idaho I have them all the way to 338 the 350 works just fine doesn't tear up meat like my 3006 it will range out 250 or more no real issue if I can take a elk with my 243 th 350 legend will work its great because Iam a disabled vet so I have to hunt on wheels my legend is a ruger very nimble we will take a elk this year no problem thanks for the video will keep watching in the future I am building a rifle for a 80 year old now thanks again
Love mine in CVA Scout. Groups 1in @ 100yds and shot a nice buck last year at 150yds he sat down right there! Great caliber almost no recoil would be perfect for kids and if Im shooting under 150 yds I take mine every time but id take a 200 yd shot if I needed.
Same here, we love ours and they are great for kids.
I mean what you guys said was great, but I feel like the opinions we got from the crickets in your audience were very helpful as well.
I enjoy y'all's channel I subbed. Ready to see yalls video this deer season. I been dojng gun videos for a long time but gonna start dojng hunting videos myself. God bless
Awesome, good luck with season this year
I just bought a ruger American ranch in 350 legend. I haven't really heard much about this cartridge, but I just bought 2.5 acres in North Carolina that is full of deer. I came home from work about a month ago and had 8 right outside my house on my property. It's been awhile since I hunted, but with meat prices going up like they are, im definitely going to do some deer hunting on my property and most distances should be 50 yards or much less. I also have bear on my property and hope to stock my freezer for the next year.
The 350 will work perfectly for your needs. It is a really nice round for 250 yards and in.
I just picked up the same Winchester this weekend. I haven't even had the chance to hit the range yet. Gonna zero it in this weekend and hopefully take a dear home next month.
Good review. Great for all the things you mentioned. Close range to about 200 yds. Handling is easy, especially in small stand. Minimal recoil allows you to stay down in the scope. Keep the videos coming. Hard to find just good regular guy videos. lol
Thanks for watching!
I like them all but I bought the go wild with the bronze barrel luv that 350 legend 👍
It is a shooter!
It’s also great in an ar platform.
Yeah man. And i want one bad!
Thanks for the video! I just bought a mossberg patriot in 350 legend for my brush hunts this year hopefully mine targets as well as yours have! Subscribed!
They are sweet shooters! Thanks for watching
No worries with the Patriot. Mine is a tack driver with the Hornady 170 gr. I love the Mossberg
M H- glad to hear that’s the ammo I have chosen to use haven’t shot it yet.
Based
Buying up ammo but just now need to buy the gun but most local stores are sold out
If you live where most of your shots are less than 100 yards, the 350 Legend is a great cartridge for deer and hogs.
I have one in the go wild camo 22 inch cera coat barrell and shot 3 diff factory amminution it all repeated. Awsome i live. In indiana public land is straight wall cartridge you just cant beat this rifle for the money and accuracy
Totally agree, great rifle for the money.
You can get the flush mags for the Ruger American. Or a sled mag. I can only have one round in the gun per Illinois goofy laws. But hey a new rifle will always be superior to the slug gun with a fully rifled barrel. I grew up using my fully rifled barrel on my 870. And it definitely kills them but 150 yards is probably the max distance a hunter with respect would shoot. Further shots have been made but they were hail marry’s
Just built me one in ar platform with 20 inch ss barrel
No recoil is like 22lr are saying it's like that ?
They need to make the box magazine in 4 round
I use a 450 bushmaster with hot reloads at 2650 fps an it shoots like a 410 if that bad
Love you guys! But most all deer are "thin skinned" animals. Try that awesome rifle on "thick Skinned" animals........Javelina?
Very true, we only plan to use these on whitetail. I am not sure how they would do on thicker skinned game.
There are several bullet options. The 150 XP might not be a hog bullet. I would go with the fed or hornady.
@@TexanUSMC8089 I've been shooting hogs here in Texas with my 16" AR using the Winchester 150 grain Deer Season XP and it has been very effective hogs. Lots of misinformation and misunderstanding of the 350 Legend and its capabilities. I can't understand why it is thought of by some as a "weak" cartridge or that would have any trouble taking down a hog.
My 16" AR in 350 Legend loaded with Winchester 150 grain Deer Season XP doesn't have any trouble dropping big hogs here in Texas.
What kinda coating did they say? Why do they coat them? Where do they get them done?
The barrels are cerakoted from the factory. Very scratch resistant and water proof. Just extends the life of the gun in wet situations with less oiling needed. These came factory but honestly you can get any gun done at a lot of gun shops
And out of those 3 i prefer the Savage axis2
We have not shot the savage axis in this particular round. However im sure the action is just a bit better
Are these about the same 35 marlin lever action vs the 350 legend thanks
Very similar
AR mags are great for AR's, but for God's sake make flush mags for traditional rifles. I like Rugers, but would not buy because off the mag. I don't think I am alone.
Agree with you there. The Rugers are tack drivers but not a fan of the mags.
450bushmaster over 350 legend hands down, 12 gage vs 20 gage type a deal
