I’m glad you started doing videos again…I watched your old ones back when I got into shooting and enjoyed them. I still have my swfa 10x. You basically sold me on it back in the day and it’s been the best optic

Like many others I bought my Ruger American Predator 6.5 Creedmoor because of your original videos. It was the best money I ever spent on a rifle ($375 in February 2017). Matthews Fabrication cheek riser, tightly packed the hollow stock with cloth and a couple ounces of lead weights, filed and sanded the forend to make sure the barrel was actually free floating, added a muzzle brake and topped it with a Leupold VX-3i 4.5-14x50 scope. Mine is money for 1 MOA or sub MOA groups at 200 yards with the Hornady ELD-X 143g Precision Hunter ammo. I use the rifle for Whitetail deer hunting, but off-season I like to target shoot out to 686 yards (maximum I can safely stretch it on nearby land). I might watch some cuck videos in your honor tonight (the straight ones, not that cleanup shit).

Excellent video, great upgrades & the 0.5in MOA to 0.75 MOA with mirage, with the Hornady is very impressive.
Nice shooting & Thanks for using the Matthew's Fabrication Cheek Riser 7 years later. Can't wait to see how far you push it, 👍🏻👊🏻

@ADudeAndSomeGuns You're more than welcome, glad to be of service. I plan on being in business for quite a while longer.
That Matthew's Fabrication Bear Paw Right Handed Cheek Riser looks great on that stock.

I had the same rail issue happen to me before. I wasted a whole box of ammo zeroing thinking it was me. I tightened everything down. A few months later, I missed an 8-point at close range. Turns out the screws backed out again. Lesson learned. I loctited all the screws and put a layer of loctite under the surface of the rail.

I am running several Ruger Americans. I have filled in the forend with Rockite and it stiffens up the forend. It's an old Savage Axis/Mod 10 trick to stiffen the stock.
My 6.5 predator, on video shot 9/10 into a 2" steel and 400 yds. Another video of it shooting 4/5 at 500yds, on 2" steel for the bench.

Your original video made me go out and buy a RAR Predator in 6mm CM. I threw it into an MDT chassis and only buying the parts when they had their big yearly sales to keep the price down. I have had similar accuracy to what you are showed with different loads. I think I might take mine out today as I haven't shot it in two years.

The rails have been working loose because Ruger has been oiling the screw instead of loctite for some reason. And the stock on these rifles was made for iron sights but its an optics ready setup. The Matthews Fabrication is the best upgrade you can do if you keep the factory stock for sure.

    • @ADudeAndSomeGuns

Yeah. The screws and the rail were oiled up good. Maybe to prevent rust.

Scope base screws will eventually work loose on any action. I have had them work loose even when properly tightened. The best way to keep the base screws from working loose is to use a 2 part epoxy on the base so you have time to tighten it down before it sets up. The glue will fill in voids and help block movement. wipe the excess squished out.
soldering torch heat can break down the glue if you need to remove the base.

Still got my 308 predator. Awesome gun 500 cash out the door. Definitely can vouch for the need of a cheek riser I just got a fabric velcro on deal. Had the swfa on it. I moved to an Athlon but wish I knew about arken I prefer that reticle over the Athlons. Anyway she's easily a .5 moa gun if I'm doing my part. She really likes the hornady 168s but the federal fusion 165s are almost as good and are far more available.

I bought my RAP after watching a few of your comparison videos between this and the patriot, and my RAP has feeding issues where the rounds get jammed up between the feed ramp and the barrel.
Just a thought, you said you had fliers in your groups, check to see if your meplaits aren't jacked up from feeding. If the tips get deformed, you'll have a flier guaranteed, speaking from experience.
Good luck with your groups, and shoot straight.

I bought this rifle at the Fort Liberty (Bragg) North Post Exchange today for $440.00 out the door. I haven't shot it yet as we got back home (Huntersville NC) around 4:45 PM this afternoon and I need to clean and lube it. I also need to get a scope or an Optic for it as well. Any suggestions for a good Optic for shooting 1000 yds or so? Much appreciated! I'm so stoked about this rifle and want to shoot it so bad. It is the 6.5 Creedmoor version.

    • @ADudeAndSomeGuns

First. It’s just Bragg. Second, depends on your budget, and use. I like Arken optics for their reticle. They’re like $500. I also like leupold mark 5HD optics. Theyre closer to $3k.

I wonder if there is any accuracy difference between the standard ruger american and the predator with the heavier barrel.

    • @ADudeAndSomeGuns
      @ADudeAndSomeGuns  5 місяців тому

If anything you’ll maintain tighter groups for longer strings of fire with the thicker barrel. It won’t heat up as fast as a regular spotter barrel found on a standard American. Depends what you’re using it for.

Put the lowest rings you want on there, you’ll still need a cheek riser for a solid face to gun mount.
