Doug's Barrelcam, Miller lake crow hunt in February 25 2022

I went out of a solo crow hunt on the 25th of february and shot 20 birds. It was very cold and windy but still a good time. My Benelli M-1 was cycling very slowly so listen to its cycle time as i shoot the shotgun. I have two doubles, one of them filmed and the other mentioned when i shot a bird out of the tree and then a flier. Crow hunting is a good sport because it allows the sportsman to ex...

    Suppressors will overgas guns which puts a lot more wear and tear on internals. The suppressor will cause more pressure in the barrel which interfaces with the bolt face and firing pin, as well as more pressure down the gas tube and direct impingement system. You can tell your rifle is overgassed because the spent brass isn't ejecting towards your left and back, you even got one in your truck which is probably slightly forward left of you. You should get an adjustable gas block as well as a heavier buffer when you add a suppressor to your rifle. You can also just get beefier components like you did with the firing pin, but it will wear faster without the above mentioned upgrades. Otherwise basic stock internal components will be expected to break under the excess stress.

    Thank you for making this! I built a left handed 10.5 in AR47 from BCA about 2 years ago for a friend and he has loved it and never had any problems out of it. So I ordered me one of the same gun and over the weekend I shot it 4 times with mixed ammo just to see if it would function alright, it did great. Sunday after church I decided to take it out and nothing, eject and look at the bullet to see my light primer strike and no mark at all. I tore the gun down and right off the bat without even tearing down the BCG I noticed the tip of the firing pin was broken. I ordered another from the company you mentioned before even watching this video. It was the first company that came up on google search when I typed in, enhanced firing pin. I’m guessing they sale a lot. I’m still going to call BCA and tell them. Never hurt to have more than one firing pin I guess. Thanks for making the video take care and stay safe

    Undo force. Lol. I own a BCA side charging 5.56 and it also had one of those phosphate coated enhanced pins. Within the first 40 rounds I found it to be bent. Swapped it out for s shiny new CMMG pin from my spare parts box. Hundreds of rounds later and no issues.

  • @kayaker4132
    @kayaker4132 Рік тому

    I purchased a BCA side charging 5.56 complete upper last year. Having purchased several good quality BCA uppers in the past, I had no hesitation in buying my 4th. The side charging upper came with a very rough finished BCG and a phosphate coated firing pin which I assume is their new enhance pin. This upper has had no more than 40 rounds through it and I can confirm that the firing pin is bent at the tip. Replaced it with a CMMG pin and no more problems.

    I have a Winchester FTX and a Savage 110 with heavy barrel and no feed magazine issues. I have taken 8 deer with them, all one shot kills. I load Hornady 165 grain FTX bullets to 2,250 fps. Friends at my club who have Ruger rifles had feed issues. They were riding the bolt instead of working it briskly.

    • @57dewey
      @57dewey Рік тому

      I have a 110 in 204 Ruger, and it feeds like butter. It is far superior to the cheaper acis Bolt action, I would say between the three, the Winchester probably feeds the best and then a close second with a savage and Ruger. I have shot hundreds around through my Ruger and never had an issue. It’s clear when I shoot it it is not exactly a Remington 700. But it gets the job done for the few days that I kill deer. I’m guessing I have shot over 30 deer with the Ruger. I also have one in 450 and they share duties.

    Hi Doug. The first "enhanced" firing pin in my 7.62x39 arp from BCA broke after about 40 rounds of steel cased ammo. Emailed customer service, installed the second firing pin they shipped out and it broke after less than 10 dry fires. Same thing with the third firing pin.. Is this operator error or are these firing pins made out of paper?

      I have never seen a review of a Mossberg where they shot anywhere as good as a Savage or Ruger. I’ve never seen a rifle that shot very good either. Every Ruger ranch that I have tested has been very accurate. This Savage is on par with them also.

    • @57dewey

      I’ve had really good luck with savage rifle, shooting well. Everything I read about Mossberg’s demonstrate mediocre to poor accuracy. All of the Ruger rifles that I have tested which is about 12, shoot lights out so I will stick to them. CVA cascade looks like a beautiful gun if you’re spending money.
