Brilliant scene. The bullies in this scene were like Johnny and his friends in high school, and the Latino kid (Miguel) was like Daniel. Johnny was empathizing slightly more with the victim (Miguel) than the bullies during this scene, but not much, and only stepped in when his car might have gotten scratched. But I think he would have eventually stepped in and tried to de-escalate it, if he had any regrets about how he treated Daniel Laruso.
I figure the show writers might not have known it would last more than a season or two. They may have seen this as possibly their best shot at honoring Mike Barnes!
Cool! I have studied a little myself. When I was teen, I trained a little in Tae Kwon Doe. And when I was in college, I trained a little in Karate. Unfortunately, due to a right knee injury from a couple of years ago, and other medical issues, I’m not sure if my doctor would approve of me getting back into martial arts.
@@YD-uq5fi Karate is real insomuch as it can teach you how to punch and kick effectively, as well as life skill like self discipline and self control and how to be calm under pressure (as can most sports). Can it teach you to take out 4 guys at once? Nope. If you are really good at it, and they are really pathetic specimens, maybe. But in a real fight of four vs one, even if they are completely untrained, your best course of action is to run fast.

I had a guy hit me in the back of the head with the fat end of a pool stick, before I proceeded to pound him underneath a pool table. He actually wanted to go outside to finish it off after the bouncers kicked us out. Needless to say, he was very bad shape after the second beating.
I was a preteen when the original film came out, and didn’t really think either Billy or Ralph were cute. I just binged the whole series this weekend and just fell in love with it and Billy Zabka. Absolutely love his character! He is hilarious!!

I laughed when they said they were gonna do a Karate Kid series. Joked that it would be called the Karate Middle Aged Man. Then the writers proved me wrong and created something awesome that somehow balanced the nostalgia with a great story.
Well that’s actually very realistic for someone that hasn’t practiced karate in who knows how many years. His body is probably pretty stiff as a result, but once the adrenaline kicked in it helped.

One actually might be. We left the bar pretty fast; dude was still laying there completely motionless. Outdoor venue- we glanced back as we exited. Still laying there, under a tree. Appeared no one had even noticed him. Had not moved at all, not a arm, not a leg, in the 30 seconds it took us to exfil.

At least two-thirds of these strikes are strikes you do not get up from easily. They probably aren't life threatening unless you have undetected circulatory issues. Out of the rest - quite a few you can shrug off as they are designed to make you stop just long enough for the defender to deal with person #2 coming in from the side. But I spotted at least four kicked, including the first one that are instant hospital/ER visits - one or two possibly sending you to the morgue.
I miss these type of fights, better camera work and kicks aimed straight for the face without shakey camera works to hide doubles face for sensei actors
Season 1 of Cobra Kai was owned by UA-cam and was fantastic in every conceivable way - especially the fact that "The Bad Guys" were allowed to win! We saw The Cobra Kai win in the end. Unfortunately, the show was sold to Netflix and from Season 2 onward it should have been called "Karate Kid" rather than "Cobra Kai." Ever since Netflix took over, "The Good Guys" have been winning.
This brawl reminds of Walker Texas Ranger,he'll take on half a dozen guys,kick their butts all over the place,and they just get up, come back at him, only to get clobbered all over again.

And for someone who is well trained in karate is the kind of person nobody wants to pick fights with. Karate is only used when you are up against more than one or two people who think they can fight someone who is well trained in karate and knows it. Karate and boxing are two very different trainings. Boxing is like what Sylvester Stallone trained in for his Rocky character in the Rocky franchise movies and the two Creed movies. And karate is what Pat Morita taught a very young Ralph Macchio in the Karate Kid movies. And now Ralph Macchio's Daniel LA Russo is teaching children these days modern day old fashioned karate that Mr Miyagi taught him all those years ago at the same training dojo Miyagi-Do Dojo Daniel-Son is now training those who want to learn karate the Miyagi-Do way of karate training and earn your belt rank and win Valley Karate Torna ments and then the Karate Certificate of Achievement and the medals Mr Miyagi won and passed on to Daniel in the event of his death. Miyagi-Do Dojo is Daniel's now and Johnny is now teaching karate with Daniel there.
