I have been a die hard Tennessee fan my whole life and that night I was in the stadium. Lower level about 30 yds away from where the Bama missed kick landed and I will never forget that game. The atmosphere and the emotions and being able to experience it the way I did was incredible.
That final catch by Bru McCoy as he is being blasted from behind and still managed to hold on to the ball was the entire ball game......if he drops that pass, the kick does not reach the goalposts. Tremendous clutch play.

It was truly incredible to be there in person for this one. After attending games for almost twenty years, experiencing all the heartbreak, ineptitude, and embarrassment we've had to go through as a fanbase watching our storied program be dragged through the mud, you cannot imagine the catharsis released in that stadium after such an incredible game. I've never seen such wanton joy from people just aimlessly running around hugging strangers. Not only was this the best game I have ever seen, it was the most important victory for my beloved Vols in decades. We are back.

Was at the FSU Clemson game with my Vols fan dad. He started a Rocky Top chant when my brother said TN won. Our entire section of Seminoles and Clemson fans were singing Rocky Top. From a die hard NOLES fan, lets go Rocky Top!!!

Ducks fan here . Tennessee is the only SEC team I'll root for. When they came here a number of years ago, their fans were so damn respectful and great to be around. Great win by the Vols!

I’m a Penn State fan/alum, but I consider the Vols my SEC team. Tennessee is one of my favorite vacation destinations, and I’d love to retire in the Smokey mountains. Beautiful land. Nice people. Truly passionate fans. The Vols weren’t even good the last time I was there and every other person still had a Vols jersey on in the middle of Summer no less. I’m happy for them

I’m a huge UT fan and this game was an instant classic but in my opinion, the best game winning thriller I ever watched was AL vs Aub when Bama tried for a winning FG and it was short and an Auburn player caught it in the back of the end zone and ran it 105 yards for the game winning TD. That was insane! Go Vols!

It was a great atmosphere and a classic shootout. Better than anyone could have predicted. If you love offense, this was your game. Tennessee had such hype leading into this game that I predicted that they would be crushed emotionally if the team lost. But they survived, and they're giddy in Knoxville right now. But they have a great big hurdle ahead down in Athens. And with their defense, I don't think that they can repeat this feat down there. But they have already had a great season, and should be in the New Year's Day Six.

Been a Tennessee fan since the Sugar Vols of 85. Marched with the Pride for four years in the early 90s and saw some damn good games, but nothing like this. As emotional as this win was, I totally lost it when they reclaimed Dixieland Delight and played it over the PA.

As an Alabama fan who went to the game, it was such an AMAZING game and I give mad respect to both teams for playing so hard. Yes it was upsetting for us to lose, but I would be pretty hyped if I beat someone after 15 years, even with a kick as ugly as that LOL. Easily one of the most thrilling endings of any football game I've ever watched, and seeing it in person was definitely something else. Great play from both sides, and I applaud the Vols for their victory. Congratulations Tennessee.

As a "casual" football fan I thought the ultimate in post-game energy and euphoria was last year's Michigan win over Ohio St. at the Big House (it WAS last year, right?) I mean, just sitting at home, you could ride the vibe. But this...this was David slaying Goliath and then walking up and putting a metal-toed sandal on the giant's throat. Congrats Vol nation!

Good game but not even top 20. Zero defense.
@@mattk8810 most shootouts have really bad defense and the defense was for sure wet toilet paper at best, but if you know both teams can move the ball down the field at lightning speed it makes it much more intense and engaging than if the it is a low scoring grind fest jockeying for field position with endless punts. Those can also be fantastic games no doubt, but a classic doesn't have to mean the teams played immaculate ball especially when the game is legitimately relevant and when the victory snaps a massive losing streak against a powerhouse.

I'm a huge Alabama fan and was working in downtown Knoxville on UT campus when this game took place. That shit was unreal. Not a fan of the team but they get down in Knoxville and they deserved the win that day. Easily the best football game I've ever witnessed.
