Thank you SO MUCH for this video. Needed to replace the wing mirror on my parent's Cabrio, I couldn't work out how to get the door panel off at all and couldn't find any videos on how to do it. This video helped so much, thank you for taking the time to make it! :D
Had a bad after market regulator, failed in one week. So had to do it all again and this was helpful again! To hold the window itself up out of the way, I used a couple of clamps instead of duct tape and that worked well.

We live in Norfolk County in Ontario, Canada, and there are a lot of Dutch people in my church--it was very nice to hear your instructions in English with your Dutch accent. I did pretty much everything that you did, and just finished and the window works great! Thank you especially for the extra details about the clamps and the alignment procedure. Thank you so much.
Also want to say thank you ... haven't started to repair mine yet but now I know to wait for a sunny day and start early in the AM. One window is having problems closing and the other is starting to so will likely use this video info more than once.

I hope you post more tutorials for this car as my next job is replacing the soft top only not the header and there is very little to watch about it. I have had Carbrios for years and had to replace many many regulators but I paid others to have it done and paid alot. And then the mechanics said it was a hard job with much frustrations and many a curse word. So I did have frustrations but far less because of your efforts. And I saved a bundle. I wish I could buy you a beer, dinner as well! Thanks!
+Mike Lawrence Cool you could use it. I know if you will let it repair by others it will cost a lot of money. So thats why i try it myself and made this video. Lets hope others can use it aswell for there own regulator fixing. Btw thanks for the reply on this video.
I love this instruction video, it saved me over $300. The comment I made is about the final adjustments using the star wrenches. I did follow the instructions on installing the unit. I just wanted to see how the fine adjustment using the star sockets to get the final end adjustments. I have viewed the video many many times. The video showing the blue film is very good, but, it does not show the instructions itself
thanks for your great Job, i searched for 3 Month now - for a little "How to do" like this The Windows of my MK3 goes just a little bit to high on the back - front to low. I hope now the go up in the sealing again. Thanks a lot
dude I feel your pain! thanks to your video I just finished installing my gf window after gutting it out and adjusting like a million things. it took a lot of time and patience but worth saving money. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR HELP MY GF THANKS YOU ALSO HAHA

Hi and thank you for a great video. 17:12 it looks like you should have shown the blue cardboard representing the window the other way round as the right bracket is the rear one (on my car anyway). I can't work out where the fine adjusters stop on the door
It was my right window and it was the best way to show from this side otherwise it would not have been clear. If your parts are the other way around maybe you have the other window?

I have heard it is about $450 at a VW dealership just for the regulator replacement. I also needed a new motor so it would have been outrageous.

I don't think it's replaceable. But you could try to use a drill to get the rivet

Waar heb je het mechanisme gekocht? Heb je het gekocht incl. motor of alleen het mechanisme?
+Thums ik heb alleen het mechanisme gekocht. Gewoon bij de dealer, echter als je op Ebay kijkt dan zijn ze volop te koop voor rond de 50 $
