You come a long way my friend! I remember doing deals with you at our local gas stations here in Brevard. Rock on my brother and I’m proud of your achievements
I live in Dallas, but haven’t been to the guitar show in years. The last one I went to, I recall sitting at a picnic table, in doors, eating lunch and the only other person at the table was Eric Johnson, also eating lunch. We both said “hey,” and just minded our own business. I don’t think anyone in the general area knew who he was. As bad as I wanted to fan-boy him with questions, I decided to let him enjoy the peace and quiet. Right after that I played a brand new Martin D18, that was only $1200. They were selling for around $1800 at the time, so I couldn’t tell if something was wrong with it. Some dude was playing an electric, way too loud, and way too close, so I couldn’t gear it. Still wish I’d bought it.
I've lived in Dallas for 30+ years. Used to go to the Dallas show every year back in the 90's - 2000's and there were easily 3 times more people attending and twice as many dealers. It's shocking the lack of public walking around for a Saturday. Reverb and ebay have taken a big bite out of the guitar shows.
For sure. Will say the crowd was a little split up since they have different stages and such going on throughout the day, but certainly not what they used to be
Great coverage! I’ve always done the Arlington Show. Vendors bringing the same guitars at the same prices..PREACH! Regarding T-15’s, et al other T guitars…most need some neck angle adjustment. I stay away from using Hartley’s micro adjust grub screw in lieu of a wooden shim of some sort. The Peavey necks are two pieces of rock Maple glued together. I’d be leery of cranking the neck too much with that adjuster. As always, enjoy you alls videos. All the best!
I dig your channel, glad to meet you at the show. I live in DFW. Only go to Dallas and Arlington shows. And, I agree (no shade), but I feel it’s almost like a classic car show in Dallas. People are not trying to sell/trade/buy as much as Arlington. They have the same stuff year to year same price or higher. 🤷🏻♂️
I walked by your booth a few times that Saturday. I was the guy that had his friend bring a dolley in case I bought anything. I did pick up the Mark Holcomb 7 and thought it felt nice. Too bad I didn't see you guys recording lol
I've watched some of your guitar show videos and can't see any people around. We do quite a few shows in the UK and at busy times it can be difficult to move between the stands because of how many people there are, so I'm surprised to see the place almost empty. Is it because these are all trade days and there are no members of the public?
Looks like we need to go to the UK haha. It's a bit of everything really. It easier to film the whole room early or on dealer days (it does get busy at the booth so can't film everything or everyone). That being said, a lot of the guitar shows here aren't what they used to be, especially compared to the 90's and earlier so we're told.
We took a couple of years off doing guitar shows in the UK as we felt we'd sort of got to a saturation state in terms of selling our product, we were seeing the same people at the same shows, then Covid kicked in. Since then we've been carefully doing a few more selected shows. For us footfall is everything, if there are not enough customers (punters as we call them in UK), then we won't make the sales. It's very interesting seeing an insight of how it happens in another part of the world. Best of luck!
Great show for me I would buy that 2015 traditional les Paul .but am in the uk 😩I have 2 ordinary standards and also have a 2015 sg with robo(shitty) tuners but I think there will be worth more in 20/30 years time .who knows ..keep up the good work 👌👌👌
Hi ive been watching recently youre channel Awesome. Im watching the Dallas show and i saw a guitar that i sold to somebody in 2013 i think in Texas in youre booth that looks exactly like mine is a PRS Custom 22 in 3 color sunburst with moon inlaya and Zebra pickups . I had a similar guitar and i changed the pickups for Dragón 1 in Zebra color just like the one isaw in youre Dallas show. Wide Fat Neck also.
Every time I've done the DFW area shows I have exactly the same observation. Same guitars, same (too high) prices. I don't understand the business model - maybe if they sell one guitar for double its worth and probably 3-4x what they paid it makes the twice-per-year show costs worthwhile. I've never been close to buying anything.
Serious question, it seems when you go to shows, you buy a lot more gear than you sell; is that true or just the edit. Also, if true is that your strategy. It seems to me the costs associated with traveling to and working a show, then the costs to ship the stuff you later sell on the Interweb, would make it hard to turn a profit on those sales. I’m genuinely interested in your thoughts. Thanks. Big fan.
bro used a full on 3D printer stepper motor bolted to an amp that's pretty hardcore someone should tell him that flat motors exist for low torque and high precision applications great video, thanks for sharing it with us
Yeah, it's not as streamlined as it could be, but with 3d printing being so popular, those nema 17 steppers can be bought for next to nothing nowadays. Makes sense from a business perspective.
@@aflashfloodofgear I've tried that a lot of times with many people showing prototypes. It's rarely appreciated lol but you could pass on to look at something like low-torque pots (speed knobs!) and PCB/printed motors. You can't get much cheaper than a motor printed on a PCB. They're also flat and super efficient so no heat. There are several types - they should do the testing to find out which one produces least aggressive EMI (or, possibly, is least victimized by it) and use it. I am 100% sure that if they cold call the handful of companies that already work with them that they'll find a partner or two - "alternative" tech is always looking for a platform and a voice, especially useful stuff. But yeah it's totally stuff they had laying around lol it's PoC but honestly I think they were proving more to themselves that they could knock it together more than really being innovative. See why most people get angry when I redesign their whole product in front of them? Some guy is building a product on Twitch, and streaming it, and it's a product used for Twitch, so I guess he's trying to sit inside his market but man it got so painful one day watching him hardcode all this html java stuff for a component in a frame layer that I suggested a js framework...when he said "what's a framework but please, buy my product" I slapped my own mouth shut and killed the browser tab lol It's too hard to explain what I am - not self promoting but I'm "superdroid1" on LI; I put up like half my experience and then got bored But there's plenty there, even so. TLDR accident "retired" me a little early so I'm fairly stuck in place and and after 6 years I am getting *extremely* bored. I mean, look at how long this comment is just because someone answered...
Hey love your channel. Would really like to see a video on how u gorgeous started. Your journey into being a guitar shop owner. Think about it. Love your content thx
I saw a guitar I was interested in at the Karch Music booth @11:27 so I looked them up online, last IG post was 102 weeks ago and their website doesn't work, too bad. You'd think sellers like this would want to have a wider market but I guess they don't want my money, oh well.
Most Aerodynes are Japan market only, so you don't see them much elsewhere. That and they have some more modern features (as I'm sure you know) that some might not like. That all being said, Fender has been doing some for the US market like their new Aerodyne Special strat!
I agree, I just bought one, it’s a 2023, I think. Guitar shopping with my grandson, picked it up, thought it was a Tele, we both like it so much, bought it.
How can I purchase your US Fender 2006 Highway One Stratocaster HSS Sunburst Nitro Finish Rosewood Fretboard W/Gig Bag costing US Dollar 1295/-. I am living at Aizawl, Mizoram, North East, India. Now, 1 US Dollar equals around Indian Rupees 82.04/-. 1. How to pay? 2. Shipping Cost? 3. Taxes? 4. Is it safe to send? 4. Total Cost? Please.
Never been to this show but the couple of videos of seen on it make it look very sparsely attended. Looks like there are no crowds. Is this how it is or is this another example of a waning interest in things that used to be popular?
There's probably some waning interest, but also the Dallas show in particular has a lot going on throughout the day so the crowd is sort of split between the different things going on. The guitar show floor is only part of the whole event
You know what's weird Tonya someone has been depositing 500 to 700. dollars a month to my account. The administrator or the financial advisor can not figure it out. If it's not monthly it's bimonthly. You are the only person I've told because if I spend it and if it's a mistake I have to pay it back. I let it stay in my account and it doesn't go anywhere. Go figure. The reason I haven't told anyone about it is for that reason. Uh-huh my battery is dead. I'll talk to you later. Luv ya❤Phillip Holt.
Well, those 2 vintage fender amps will only go up in value. But all those weird ‘mutt’ guitars won’t be easy to move….or make a profit on. I don’t know you, so maybe you know your clientele better than I do. Other than the Fender guitar reissues I’d never risk all that money on so many ‘oddball’ guitars. Stick to Fender and Gibson I’d say. Best of luck.
I think he is doing ok and I would hope he knows his clientele better than anyone. Also, I think selling something different t helps him stand out from the other big vendors who sell fender and Gibson. Who doesn’t sell fender or Gibson.
This makes me understand why custom guitars are far superior in every way today , nothing different or special with any of these , just the same old boring guitar models/makes/styles and manufacturers , collector items due to the date , color, or some discontinued features ..😂" still will always be factory made assembly line guitars " ...
Kay hiding under to table is so on brand. Tell Eric to play me in Frag. Josh Scott cameo is wild. 10/10 video AFFOG FOREVER

So cool Josh Scott stopped by!
Damn, I didn't know Josh was that tall!
I’ve been to the Dallas show. Bought a blonde 83’ Tele w/Custom Shop Nocaster pickups in it.Played and sounded phenomenal.

Nice Peavey T-15, Best in show. Congratulations.
I just found your channel. Excellent! Thanks! Do you ever come to the oaks, Pa show?

Neither was I haha

Hope to see you in Arlington later this year ✌️
My fav, Epi G-400 Custom with factory Bigsby. I've owned 2 antique white Customs and one Ebony Custom but not a Custom with the Bigsby. Right on!

Little surprise at 24:40 👀
You have a friggin really cool job... That place is guitar Valhalla.
Dallas year TWO baby!! Always a great time, even if ya get scuffed with a tire
These videos make me want to spend money I don’t have

With everyone converting the robot tuners, there's definitely an argument they will become rare/worth more in the future
The teal boss finish goes so hard❤
Agreed!
As I recall , the Highway 1 range had a satin water-based finish . Oh , and Seafoam Green is frequently confused with Surf Green .
Your videos always inspire me to play more guitar. What a show.
Love to hear that!
These videos are always inspiring me to buy more gear!!!!
I didn't realize Josh Scott was so tall in person.
Me either 😅
Was hoping to see the thinline on the website :(

Feel this!
No Basses 😔, that’s why I don’t go to those shows, no basses. Is there a room dedicated to bass guitars??
What is the name of your band?
