  • One year ago, we uploaded the Healthy Minimalist Home Tour. It's one of the first few videos that we published on Thoughtworthy Co's channel, and arguably the one that started it all!
Here's a little background story behind our home, and the video that accidentally went viral!

August 15 marks the one-year anniversary of our home tour video! Not 100% sure what the point of this video is 😅 but we just wanted to honor the video that started it all. We hope you learn something new and interesting about Thoughtworthy with this :)

in answer to the question of why they were successful is:
-the quality of editing and content was excellent
-In addition, the topic you discussed was fashionable but you gave it another approach, more interesting, speaking about things that few had spoken
(Sorry for my bad English, I hope you can understand me)

Native English speaker here- I understood your comment, and completely agree ^^
High production value makes videos much more palatable to watch through!
Minimalism has been a trendy topic, but HL and Glo have presented their home in a way that feels both more accessible and personal.
      Basically, it's real Thoughtworthy.

I clicked on the minimalist home tour video because it looked "refreshing": the design felt familiar yet distinct. Minimalism lacks the bells and whistles of more luxurious homes, but it's more achievable and functional, too. I think we as consumers crave relatable content, and seeing a different, feasible design was compelling because of its accessibility.
Although you called the video work sloppy, I was impressed by how deliberately each shot was cut, and how clearly delighted you and Glo were with your space. That pride is infectious, and I've kept clicking on all of your content since :)
Thank you for sharing your stories, and cheers to more to come!

I don't know about others, but I clicked on this video because the story behind your channel relates to me so much as a Singaporean. It's one thing to go minimalist in your lifestyle choices in a country where it is more widely accepted, and another thing to do it in Singapore.
As a fresh graduate who just can't really find any sense or meaning in the socially accepted 9-5, 5.5 days a week job, your pursuit of happiness on your own terms and your journey to define success for yourself really inspire me. I've decided to dabble in different part-time jobs, occasionally juggling 2 or 3, to meet that perfect balance of job satisfaction (in one of my jobs), work-life balance, and financial independence (in another). I know what I want for myself in life, but it's hard to maintain that rhetoric when it's so new to the people around me, and most of them think it's just 'a phase' I'll grow out of. That's why, your channel is so reassuring to me. It echoes exactly what I want, in the context I'm living in, and it assures me I'm not alone in this lonely pursuit of the unknown, everchanging 'happiness'.
I also love your other video which speaks about how you almost quit Thoughtworthy Co in the past. It's intimate. It's honest. And it resonates a terrifying amount with me. If I could, I would love to see more of such videos about the realities of choosing such a lifestyle in SG - the brutal, the ugly, as well as the pleasures on the other side of it. Like, did you ever think about "What if" you have any children? Or "what if" your priorities changed in the future? Or getting a part-time job to get by, in the months when Thoughtworthy isn't doing as well? Your retirement plans, and back-up plans in case this doesn't work? These are all thoughts that fill my mind as I enter my 2nd year of fumbling around post-graduation. I would appreciate such videos, but if these are all too intrusive, by all means, you don't have to answer them. I just want you to know how much your videos are supporting me just by being there. :)

Your home tour video has a special place for me when I first watched it.
I feel many self help channels over time lacks and losing their connection and feel of humble everyday people with flaws and imperfection.
What connected me the most was that sense of connection with u guys, (maybe because I'm also from an SEA country) therefore I'm super glad that your core values are very much aligned with what I had felt from the first video that I watched.
I hope that you guys would reach higher heights! Cos your videos are what the world needs right now. Humility and connection to humanity.

Hi Thoughtworthy! First time I watch your home tour video I was HOOKED.
I always want to be a minimalist (yes I am still working on it). I search for many many inspirations on youtube, but yours was the most relatable, at least for me (and maybe another 71K+ subs too!). Your video is simple, easy to understand, and realistic. The video take was excellent and you two are so cute together! I currently also are in a commited relationship, and I set your apartment and lifestyle as references for our future. Oh, and also I learn a lot of relationship advice from you!
So, I'd like to thank you for the videos, and I hope this channel will grow beautifully and soulfully, just like you two!

I really liked this video because the minimalist apartment video was the first I saw. And I watched it various times because I think your apartment is great and I liked that you were really coragous in stepping out of the "normal". I like minimalism and I am trying to simplify but I am a mother of 3 kids and this means stuff, but I have already achieved some things here in our home and I am going to continue. I think you guys are great and the quality of your videos as the content is really good. You deserve all the sucess and I wish you the best. I think what drew me to your videos were two things: content and style.
On the content side, your videos are informative and thought-provoking, with no "filler" content, as I call it. I can only speak for myself, but I would much rather have one or two uploads a month with good quality content than one or two uploads a week with meaningless content. Part of this is that I think that when UA-camrs upload every week, there is simply less time to make good quality, engaging videos, while I know that with your channel each upload brings a fresh perspective and ideas worth listening to.
I think it's the style side, however, that really makes your videos shine for me, and even the small things like the title make a big difference. Your video titles are concise and informative and the formatting gives each video a clean and professional appearance. Whenever I see a title in all capitals, I immediately want to close the video because, to me, these videos often have a clickbait-like feel and provide little value.
I am also a big fan of the presenting style, with the video coupled with a voiceover, rather than talking directly to the camera, which I think works excellently for the types of videos you produce and creates a really soothing effect. It means you can make videos which are coherent and professional while still making them feel personal, without the egocentricity that can come across when talking to the camera. It also means that, if you do decide to make a video where you talk directly to the camera, it feels that much more impactful and personal.
I am really impressed by the quality of your videos, and I know that when I click on a new upload from you, I will come out of it feeling calm, refreshed, and having learned something new, and that makes it such a wonderful viewing experience.

Thank you so much for your wonderful comment! We're so glad that many of the things you mentioned are exactly what we strive for our videos to be. It means a lot to us, and it pushes us to want to do so much better in our future videos. Thank you! 🙏💕

This was beautiful:) I would like to ask you if you could include in the future some suggestions about books or readings on this "philosophy of life" you embraced (not really sure how to define it). Thank you:)

Thank you, and thanks for the idea! It's quite a huge topic, our "philosophy of life" is influenced by so many things (and not necessarily books/reading), let us think about how we can make it work :)

I love your channel, especially because there is a real drought for mature lifestyle content here in Singapore and I was wondering if you had recommendations for other Singaporean youtube channels (they don't have to be fellow minimalists) it is just hard to find other Singaporean creators here on UA-cam.

I like the thought design the place »like having achieved nothing at all«. Brilliant. How did you get to that thought?

Where did you guys purchase those floor tables? I prefer sitting on the ground too but unfortunately, don't have many of those options in the US!

Hello you two, i like your videos very much and it’s very inspiring to me. I would like to know which plant you have in your flat and would be happy about a feedback.
    Kindly regards from Berlin,
    Max

Thanks for your kind words! What you see in this video is a fiddle-leaf fig, philodendron and calathea plant. The former two are fairly easy to take care of, but the calathea was a little finicky and sadly no longer with us. We've added a chinese money plant, snake plant and several others since then!
