How to update your old MacBook Pro 2013 from macOS High Sierra to Big Sur 100% FREE, I will show you how to do it on this video.
I will be using my old MacBook Pro 15" Retina 2013 with macOS High Sierra version 10.13.6 and I will be updating it to macOS Big Sur version 11.7.2 my laptop identifier is MacBookPro11,3

Thank you so much!!! Itoday I updated my MacBook Air early 2014 from Sierra to Big Sur. I have been wanting to do so for ages but was worried about messing it up. Your tutorial was super easy to follow, the update and installation took quite a while but I didn't encounter any issues 😊 I can now use all the apps that had stopped working. I'm glad ti have my Mac back. I have a new iPad Pro but I still keep coming back to my MacBook Air. THANK YOU SO MUCH 🙏😊

Excellent video. I struggled for hours and hours trying to find the right file. This video helped me find it. So stupid Apple doesn’t put the “root” version of the OS to install easily accessible in the App Store. Now, thanks to this video I’m well on my way of upgrading my macOS!

Excellent video! And good advice.
(Follow up after install) HOWEVER, I had all sorts of problems trying to go from OS 10.11.6 to 15.x on my 2012 Macbook Pro.
1) It seemed to be more of a clean install rather than an update as it erased all my settings, removed my files from my desktop, deleted my browser history and bookmarks from Chrome and Firefox, etc.
2) It split the system files across my two internal HDs (although I had enough space on the target drive) and subsequently moved folders around.
3) Most confusing part: It actually ended up installing the same OS version I started with..!
Luckily I just backed up using Time Machine so I was able to get back where I started. But I'm hesitant to try again. If I do, my plan is to unplug my second internal HD and maybe going to OS 10.13 only. Thoughts?

@@knight1506 The second attempt worked perfectly. I unmounted my second drive AND only updated to High Sierra, as anything newer would have caused problems with my older versions of Creative Suite. So I'm all good!
@@allencraig02 ......Sorry to ask again but did you have to backup any files on your desktop to an external drive ? I'm scared of losing any files and my Adobe photoshop if I do not backup on external drive. So in other words is it necessary to back up all your files before install of new O.S. ? I'm running High Sierra now. Thanks for any info.
@@allencraig02 how long do you think you will be able to use 10.13. That's what I have and getting notices there is no more updates.

I did all these upgrades to give my Virtual DMV a written test. They wanted some monitoring extensions. It all worked out perfectly but I failed at the first attempt. Will give it tomorrow again. Fingers crossed 🤞

Hi, Thank you for this tutorial. But I have an issue... After downloading BigSur, I got an error message stating "This Copy of the Install macOS Big Sur application is damaged, and can't be used to install macOS". Please, what can I do?

Hi Alex im new to to using the macbook pro so I'm not sure whats going on. Every time i go to download it shows it's downloading but then stops and the bar will judt say download but not let me select it again unless i refresh page 😔
