Glad you had a good time on power tour this year. We drove 600 miles to Memphis before our car quit. Fried a wiring harness. Got a rental for the rest of the trip. Hopefully better luck next year

you are welcome! keep it cool, make sure you have good tires and bring a few tools along just in case! Enjoy! it would be great to see a g body 442 at the show! i think i saw a 83 hurst olds but the rest were cutlasses including mine even though I have a transmission out of a turbo buick and rear end/motor from a 442. . no g body 442s! g body nation should participate for sure!

Cool! I’ve got an old G-body that I’ve driven 24 hours straight from Ct. to southern Fla. twice. I’ve rebuilt the whole drivetrain since then, but I’m still using the original alternator and fuel pump

This has been on my bucket list for years. I live in Michigan, and kinda waiting for it to come a little closer to join up or start from. I'm surprised that you didn't fix your A/C before you left, it's there, you were heading to Southern states in summer.? Why not travel in comfort.? As far as you being concerned about your shocks or things that were 10-15 years old. Well, you can worry yourself to death. I have owned a 69 Chevelle Malibu for 38 years. Swapped the 307, 2bl 2spd powerglide, for a mild rebuilt 350, 4bl 350 turbo trans. Within the last 2 years, I've replaced the fuel pump, water pump, (1970) original, fuel tank gas float gauge. Disc brake conversion on the front. Lower ball joints. The car has 155,000 miles on it, about 35,000 on engine and transmission. Front suspension, body mounts, original. 53 years old. And I'm not afraid to drive it. The one thing I want to do before I go on The Power Tour, is get rid of the front Bench seat. 1969 comfort just isn't there for anything past 3 hrs. Lol. And two, at 6'4" I just don't have the legroom.! I've driven down to South Carolina before and 14 hrs in this seat is brutal.! Lol. I'm wrestling with the idea of taking my parents 65 Buick Riviera on a Power Tour, but I would definitely recharge it's A/C system over to 134A before I would take it.

I hear ya! the ac wasnt thought of before the trip nor did i want to get into it. I wasnt expecting the heat wave. LOL. I had enough irons in the fire in the weeks leading up to the tour! I am looking into fixing the ac for the next trip for sure! Good luck with your ride!

Please go with a Holley. Had an edlebrock carb on my truck and it was brand new, not a good carb at all. I know they are half the price of a Holley but i know from experience there is a reason for that, do you like vapor lock? Holley has not failed me in over 35 years.

I've been on 4 HRPTs now... and sadly the 2022 tour was by far the worst. I'm glad you enjoyed it, but unless they get their act together they won't see me again. The heat was bad, 100+ every day... but that's not controllable... just an irritant... the route was horrible!!! The intent is to stay off expressways if at all possible... run the 2 lane blacktop thru the small towns along the way. This year was almost all expressway!!! Yuck. Cruising thru the small town is 80% of the fun. Hot Rod keeps changing the organizers and this year was ridiculous! The lines into the venues were way too slow... not enough entry points for 6000 cars!!! Cars were overheating... the lines for credentials was a disaster... some waited 2 hours in line!!! The midways was empty due to the heat... people would do a lap and head back to shade... the stage had a very small audience... the stage and midway were always crowded... that's where meeting new people was great. A lot of us give away hot wheels to the kids along the road... in 2016 I bought 100... halfway thru and I had to buy another 100... I've given out 200 in 2017 and 2019 too... but this year we gave away 30. That's because no one watches us on the expressways. I hope you go again, and I hope they fix it... Rock on!

Sadly from 2030 on all combustion cars including classics will be banned
from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-( In Germany the
Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025 on by
reducing all conventional fuel stations to only one state operated
central gas station per city or county. Now they even want to slow down
all the gas pumps from 20 litre per minute to 2 litre per minute...From
2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as
exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox
oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no
investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer....They even
created a new kind of crime here, called emissions and smoke crime.

I hope i get to do another one. I like the designated routes . Wish I would have went to Beale Street in Memphis. I've seen some great photos. Old cars and old architecture .
