I wonder if it’s the phrase about placing the wreath that throws people off. If it was a more current traditions, they would pick up on what was going on. But it’s sad. It’s about like Abbott & Costello’s Who’s On First. Reactors usually just react to the exasperation of Costello or they have heard the routine before.

He was born in WV but moves to Michigan with his parents for his dad to work in the auto plants and to come to think of it, my dad followed in his dad’s footsteps. We lost my dad in 91 due to cancer. George didn’t want to record this song. He said no one would listen because it was so damn maudlin. But he was talked into it and it became one of his biggest hits. He was known as no-show Jones because he had a real problem with drugs and alcohol. He was one of a kind and that little warble in his voice is unique to him. He and Tammy Wynette were the royal couple of country music back in the day. Their duets are beautiful.

8:48 I don’t know you’ll ever see this but at George Jones’s memorial Vince Gill sang his song, go rest high on that mountain, and it was probably one of the most emotional tributes that I’ve ever seen. Patty Loveless had to carry him vocally through that because he broke down crying. And that actually says a lot because Vince Gill wrote that song when his brother died and as a tribute to Keith Whitley.

The baking soda alkalizes the cancer cell and kills it, but how do you get it in past the hard cancer cell. You send in the molasses trojan horse, all loaded up with baking soda. The cancer cells happily open up for the sweet, taking in the baking soda with it, that will kill the cells. Blessings and healing to you both.

He is so well beloved with Country fans. Oh and weathered.. well.... ....... ... well you could say ol' possum lived a really crazy and tumultuous life. I am sure if you google George you can read articles and check out footage of a lot of his escapades. haha Some say he had some demons.. but regardless of any of that.. I think it contributed to him really being a truly authentic country crooner. All these years later.. and I am grown now.. and I have the biggest love and soft spot for his music. Agreed. I don't even mind that reactors give priority to paid requests (although that can box them in) so much as how it becomes obvious that often the reactions lose authenticity. Reactors are ultimately performers.
I like that BP says what he likes and what doesn't particularly vibe with him even if he risks backlash from followers. Art is so very diverse. We all have preferences and moods. It is really cool to be able to click on those that interest me. I rarely skip any of BP's reactions because he is authentic even if I don't always agree with him.

Classic country is correct! My husband and I were fortunate to attend a concert. It was amazing.
My husband passed away 5 years ago from the effects of agent Orange. We had 49 amazing years together and I will never love anyone else the way I loved him.

Man you just don’t know the history of George Jones who was one of the greatest country legends. He and Tammy Wynette his second wife were the King and the Queen of country music as a couple. They have had televisions mini series about them and at least two movies about them. It would take all day to go into their history. I just can’t believe you have never heard of him or possibly her. He will be my favorite country singer until the day I die. Check out the song The Way That I Am with him and Merle Haggard dueting. They don’t get any better.

To this day every time I hear this song I get the chills. From the first line "He said I'll love you till I die." George Jones hooks you in the heart and never lets go. Back in the old day a black wreath was placed on the front door of someone who had passed. Also you are right about him having a hard life. He fought addiction until his last day. I love watching your face as you listen to the words and music. Keep up mixing it up I have found old favorites and added some new music from your reactions. ❤

George Jones had many great hits. Later in his career he had out "The One I Loved Back Then (the corvette song)" and "The Grand Tour" are great. Some background on George. He battled alcoholism his whole life. This song was after his marriage broke up due to the alcoholism and he got clean. Was right back to an incredible singer.

George "Possum" Jones is a Country Music icon. Loved by many & toured in 50s with the likes of Elvis, Johnny Cash, etc. He wrote songs that were performed by Willie Nelson and many others. His duets with his wife (at one time) Tammy Wynette were part of country music history. He battled alcoholism, unfortunately, but was well loved by family, friends, & fellow artists.

Don’t ever apologize for bringing up your parents love, the passing of your mother, the pain and sadness you still feel and the beautiful memories that you have. I never wanted anything more than the marriage that my Mom and Dad had……they were married for 65 years…..and loved each other until the day they passed. Dad in 2010, Mom in 2015. We siblings believe in our hearts that Mom lived that long after Dad only because she had dementia (another cruel disease). I’m sure that they had their ups and downs, but us kids never saw those ups and downs. My husband and I will celebrate 44 years in October. Perfect? No, hard work, dedication, devotion, commitment, understanding, patience and a whole lotta love. I couldn’t stand country music when I was young (I’m almost 63….so not too old 😂😉), but this song I have always loved.
