David Fincher had to fight for that ending. The studio thought it was too dark and somber. Thank god Fincher got what he wanted.
Brad and Morgan backed their director and said if the studio changed the ending they wouldn’t promote the movie.
As he should, always get what he wants! His talent is on par with Spielberg, Scorcese, Lynch and Scott.
Thats AWSOME i didn't know that, but i see why since you mention it✌
That's why they added that Tag at the end of the movie .
Pitt refused to film the 'happy' ending. Balls for a young (at the time) actor.
The actor who plays the "lust" killer is Leland Orser. As preparation for his traumatic scene in the interrogation room, he would breathe in and out rapidly, so that his body would be overly saturated with oxygen, giving him the ability to hyperventilate. He also did not sleep for a few days, in order to achieve his character's disoriented look.
That's commitment.
Leland Orser is always a delight in movies! He's fantastic!
He was great in Bone Collector
@@JohnnyGingy and oddly hilarious in "Very Bad Things."
@@SuburbanSavage underrated movie 🤣😂
@@JohnnyGingy I've been saying that for years! It's pure insanity and I love it!
The only murder shown is the detective murdering the suspect, and yet it's one of the most disturbing crime thrillers ever. David Fincher is a genius.
Wow...well done!
Facts!!!
True. This movie reminds me of the Saw movies, because the killer has this moralistic rationale for everything he does.
It's just so grittty
and the only sinner that survives is the one whose sin is wrath
"Ernest Hemingway once wrote: 'The world is a fine place and worth fighting for.' I agree with the second part."
Perfect end to the movie.
That was a studio demand; the original ending was a smash cut to black after Mills' first shot.
@@JMUDoc At least it brought back Somerset's character arc.
I was so glad they left that in; it's a great quote.
Lmao. “The symbolism life isn’t for you baby…”
The rain did literally go away when he turned himself in. Beat his ass girl!
And then she literally calls whose gonna get done for wrath, before she even knows who it is. Genius!
🤣🤣🤣
😂😂😂 delete your comment before she sees this
lmao
😂
Supposedly that screenwriter was told by somebody that he needed help. The screenwriter thought that the producer meant he needed somebody to rewrite the screenplay but then it turned out that the producer meant that the guy who wrote the screenplay just needed mental help😂
They didn't tell any of the actors that sloth was gonna be alive and start choking 😂😂😂real reaction from swat guy....great job staying in character!
AWSOME didn't know that 😀
SWAT guy was Dr Cox from Scrubs
@@samhandwich4095 he is a good supporting actor also in other stuff from the 90ies.
70s, 80s, 90s films are SO much better than last couple of decades - more thought with writing, less reliance on special effects.
The way you guys figured out it was the Seven Deadly Sins was an absolutely blast to watch. You guys do make an AMAZING TEAM!
aGreed
Hannah was on absolute FIRE. Not just figuring that out, but the photographer, who he'd target for wrath...Hannah, always 10 steps ahead. Truly in perfect sync with the mind of a psychopath 😛
Oh dear, is this going to be the theme of these comments?
Oh man, I can see it now.
Hang on fellas, we’re going for a ride.
You might wanna buckle up!
Appreciate the love mate, thank you for watching ❤️
Absolutely!
'He's gonna get done for wrath.' Hannah spotting the symbolisms like a champ!
What can I say other than you two have by far the most non-fake, funny, genuine, and entertaining reactions on UA-cam. And the couple's banter is just a hilarious bonus. You'll be at 100K soon.
This is exactly why I subbed. I imagine it's the same for most here. They're a rare breed these days!
So true!
@@lordseaworth6055 And you still took the time to watch, read the comments, AND leave a reply. Says more about you, my friend. Move on.
I absolutely agree. Ash and Hannah are great 👍
Agree. I've just recently discovered, followed, and unfollowed in short order a different reactor who at first I was like "oh ho ho, good guess" but then after a while I was like "...your guesses are always too perfect and your reactions are exactly what the fandom kvetches about as if you frikkin' researched it first" (unsub). But Hannah and Ash are like bouncing off each other and sometimes guessing right and sometimes guessing wrong and making jokes about symbolisms, lol.
The ending to this movie, and The Mist, are 2 of the most effed up endings I've ever seen. Great reaction, as always.
The Mist is even more brutal, if that’s possible.
The movie Mist is better than the book Mist ending.
@@thomasharris4942 That's because the book has no ending. It's just left open. The movie actually has a conclusion which was so disturbing that it was brilliant.
The Mist F*** that movie, the end broke me.
@@lauriecochrane2130 Me, too. Still does, just not as completely on the re-watches, lol
Hannah figures out the ending 23:45.

31:25 🏆
Maybe a bit TOO clever. 🤔
"The only time he killed someone was when he was one of the sins."
Holy sh*t, I had never noticed that. Except for envy, he never kills any of the other victims directly.
Hannah, sadly: "I didn't know sloth was a sin! They're lovely little animals..."
SLOTH isn't a sin... Milton invented the seven deadly sins.
@@davidpalmer7175 it is a sin
@@davidpalmer7175?
@@that.ll_do_pig I think he correctly means there are no 7 deadly sins. Infact all or any sin keep you from the glory of God? Learn your own dogma. There's no hierarchy......smdh
The uncontrollable laughter at Sloth’s awakening was certainly the most unique reaction to that scene I’ve seen to date 🤣
Mate I was laughing so hard when I was editing it 😂
Also kevin spacey requested for his name to be kept out of the intro credits and to not put his name on the poster for the movie because everyone would know who the killer was.
The "suspect" is walking like that as he likely has ankle chains on, which limit your stride and slow you down in an escape attempt. The chain set is likely a circle chain around the waist, to which handcuffs are attached, then a drop chain to the ankles, and each ankle has basically a handcuff around it. This keeps the set all together when being stored.
I always thought he was limping after jumping over the balcony in his apartment block. You can see him limping away in the next shot in the chase scene.
I KNOW MAN! The creepiest thing about him shouting "Detectiiiiiive!!" in the middle of a precinct, is that it didn't change his mood or elevate his heart rate in the slightest bit. Just goes to show to detached this man is from reality. He's so calm in the most tense of situation, cause he mostly lives more in his fantasy world than in the real world, which feels only like background noise to him
What gets me there is how NOBODY notices a blood soaked man in a police station. Everyone has checked out from helping others.
you dont know how fast his heart was beating
@@orangewarm1 He probably confused John Doe with Hannibal Lecter.
@@orangewarm1 We got a few good close ups on him saying "I know you" and "I'd like to speak to my lawyer pls" and when he was getting down on his stomach, he wasn't breathing heavy, which goes hand in hand with heart rate
@@mastereppsreturns6586 That is a cop-out for knowing Kevin Spacey in person.
48:33 Funniest part of the whole reaction.... When Hanna tells Ash the blood belongs to the wife, you can actually see when Ash finally realizes it... That look...!!! Perfect...
19 minutes into the video and I've applauded your reaction 4 times, this is too good
Hahaha let’s goooo!! Thank you mate ❤️
‘He’s even dipping that teabag like he wants to kill it’ 😂😂😂 love you guys! ❤️
What a line 😂😂
Brad Pitt said wherever he goes someone still shouts out "What's in the box?"
What's in the boaaaaaaaaax
Just goes to show how good his acting was in that scene if people still call back to it nearly 30 years later.
Not that it would have mattered at all to the Mills character, but there has never been a more clear-cut argument for temporary insanity that I’ve ever seen. They should give him a medal, a monument, a parade, and a lifetime supply of Thorazine.
The theme of Apathy runs through almost every event in Seven. It makes for such a dark, cynical view of the world and this is the prism through which the city is presented to us. That's why the director chose to constantly have it rain, something like 90% of the time. He made London feel like the Maldives or Hawaii.
the detectives dont have apathy.
@@orangewarm1 the speech when Sommerset is sitting on the bench with Mills. He tells him that they are most likey not going to catch the killer. He also tells Mills that most cases go unsolved and they are just clue collectors and maybe one day the clues will come together. They are like people stranded on a desert island full of diamonds. they are collecting the diamonds in case one day they are ever rescued.
@@lethaldose2000 🏝 wow, what an image.
calling david as wrath so early was amazing, great job hannah
I thought he was gonna be sloth at first
When Hannah and Ash realizes that the SLOTH victim is still alive, her reaction is priceless. it lets the YT Ash crew know that his killer is on another level and started his campaign of terror over a year ago. What a sick F&@^CK!!!
Brad was a big reason the movie ended the way it did. He refused to even do the movie if it wasn't in there. Fincher wanted a cut to black roll credits after the gunshot but the studio wanted to soften it a bit and give the audience time to react and process what happened. I think the studio was actually right in this case. There were actually 7 endings thrown around, believe it or not.
I saw this in the theater senior year of high school and when the sloth guy moved everyone freaked the fuck out. I remember my friend yelling "my eyes are bleeding" which made me start laughing. When it ended it was dead silent in there and people didn't get up right away. Just kind of sat and listened to the awesome nine inch nails remix of David bowie song.
The ticking thing is a metronome and the lines where you strike through for five are tally marks. Love you two, the whole intro was fantastic and hilarious 😂
Or Hanna’s new word for a tally chart, “Numericals”!? 🤷♂️🤣🤣
In Finnish the name of that thing translates into "lumberjack's book keeping".😊
Greatest dark Thriller of all time. Even the slow spots have richness upon a second viewing. It's lovely when a Film luxuriates in its own story without being up itself. Perfect pacing for me. 💖
They should call this SYMBOLISMS the movie
😂😂 facts!!
Now you understand the infamous meme: "What's in the box?!"
This film was actually one of Matt Reeves' main inspirations for The Batman. Saw was another inspiration.
Which Batman is that? There are so many of those that you need to have the year or something to be more specific.
The beginning credits show the killer looking and researching for his killings. This is Kevin Spacey at work. The director is playing with our minds ...
The world is a fine place and worth fighting for! I agree with the 2nd part! Symbolism😉
Hahaha welcome to symbology school 😂
22:56 the gagging and ash imitating the hands is the funniest thing I’ve seen in a long time, I was crying.

This is one of the best twist ending films in that era and also it is pretty much the one that really put Kevin Spacey on the map, along with the Usual Suspects...which of course is one of the other twist ending films, and LA Confidential, they all came out within a couple years of each other.
Have you guys seen “The Revenant”? The name implies it’s a horror story but it’s not. I hope you will react to it 🤗

In case anyone was wondering, the ticking pendulum near the beginning is called a metronome. (I keep forgetting this so I posted a comment in the hopes I dont have to Google it next time...)
Amazing as always you two!
I still remember comedian and actor Paul Kaye, in his role as shock journalist Dennis Pennis, going up to Morgan Freeman at a movie premiere and the only question he managed to ask him before being escorted away was about Se7en: “That last scene in the movie, was that the best head you’ve ever been given in a picture?” ☺️

Arguably the best reaction you guys have ever done so far. This is my favorite psychological thriller of all time. The performances are amazing especially Kevin Spacey, the ending is so dark and disturbing. Keep up the great work guys. 😊💙
I remember my grandpa lending me this movie with absolutely no context whatsoever (he was a bit of a shit-stirrer in a funny way). Also, this is kind of fitting with the whole Kevin Spacey thing going on.
Although Paltrow also has her own thing with that GOOP cult. And Freeman has some...erm...lust-related accusations, though I am not sure if any of them stuck.

“...a drug dealing PEDERAST!” the irony...
omfg you two have me dying laughing. You guys are the best couple channel to watch movie reviews on lol.
Wow mate!! Proper appreciate you 😊
Seven is a movie that masterfully skirts the line of gore and suspense to the tune of an amazing classic suspense/thriller. Think of shows like Criminal Minds SVU, Law and ORder, CSI, NCIS. They all tap into the twisted part of our imagination, since reality would fall way short of what our mind can conjur.
Those shows fail though. Unlike 7, they narrarate every plot point as if you lack the intelligence to figure the story out, 7 demands you use your mind to solve the case with our detectives. Its an intelligent thriller while those TV shows are just simple entertainment.
Bro she's always so good with the predictions it's crazy 😂
This movie is unforgettable! Loved your reactions!
Appreciate it mate ❤️
I will never forget going to see this movie in the cinema when it came out. I had no clue what it was about. I had just turned 18 so I went and saw every R-rated movie that played at my local multiplex.
I walked out of it feeling like I had just been hit over that head with a bat. I also knew I had just seen an absolute masterpiece.
It was envy that killed David's wife. He was envy. Then wrath killed him. Seven deaths, seven sins.
Every time you guys predicted what would happen I just said “it’s so much worse”
This popped up as recommended, and I wasn't sure why, but I saw this movie in the theater and thought what the heck. Then I saw the Cobra Kai shirt, and my gal was bringing the violence. I'm in. I subscribed.
Also, I must admit that out of all of the reactions to Se7en that I've seen, yours is by far the most fun. Se7en is a dark film, but you two brightened it up. I definitely recommend you guys reacting to Arlington Road (1999).
Just gonna go ahead and thumbs up before I watch, cause I know you’ll like it and get your “symbolisms” lol

i love how they felt great at finding out that it was the seven deadly sins...coz that was alredy given in the synopsis

it's called a metronome and it's used in music to keep time, you can set it to different beat signitures and it will keep rhythm for you. I've known a few musicians who used it to help with insomnia because they liked the steady rhythm and it helped them fall asleep

To top it off Detective Mill's missed a phone call from his wife that morning when Kevin Spacey turned himself in. One of the other cops in the precinct told him his wife called and he kind of blew it off. I speculate it was because Kevin Spacey was at his house and she was giving him a call to let him know someone from work stopped by or something of that nature.

28:40 _"It is him [baddie] because he didn't kill him [Mills]."_ _"He'll only kill people who were one of the seven deadly sins."_
While I believe Hannah is correct *in that specific moment* the baddie had the gun to his head, I believe he did shoot at Mills and Somerset full on intending to kill them in the hallway and at the window. But when he had Mills under the gun, he reconsidered.
Kevin Spacey with walking that way because his legs were chained. And they shaved their chest because they had to wear wires.
I always thought he missed all those shots on purpose.
@@jarrenenriquez4976 I suppose it is possible. But at that range and how close the bullets came, seems just mere luck they didn't get hit. 🤷🏼♂️
One of the most disturbing and well done movies there is. Yes, the ending was sublime. ♥
This movie is still one of the sickest mainstream movies ever made. I love it 😎
What a reaction. Great guys. The movie starts perfectly showing how Somerset and Mills are totally different personalities. Also it sets the tone straight away with the city like it is a character as well. And I would have loved it if you'd have kept the final monologue from Somerset because he was about to retire but now he found a new purpose and feels there's still hope despite all that has transpired. Also John Doe was right in that people are still watching the movie today and its still being analyzed and even used to teach all kinds of methods for filming.
Edit: You need to watch Schindler's List. There are only two perfect movies, Shawshank Redemption and Schindler's List.
I would put in a bid for “There Will Be Blood”, despite not enjoying it tremendously. It really perfectly does what it sets out to do. It’s just such a bummer that it’s hard for me get through it.

The ticking machine with the swinging arm is called a metronome. It is used to keep time while you are practicing an instrument (usually a piano).
I've watched so many reactions to this film, and I still don't think I've heard anyone mention that, just before Mills shoots John Doe and he's in agony over his wife, there's a split-second black & white shot of Gwyneth Paltrow. It lasts for less than half a second, but they snuck it in.
Walks like he's pooed himself but wants to go the the party anyway 🤣🤣🤣🤣
That's gold
I finally got it... I figured out who Hannah reminds me of. She reminds me of a red head Chloë Grace Moretz.
Hanna is extremely smart. I have watched many of your reaction videos, and she almost always predicts what will happen😅.
Shawshank has the best ending. IMO. But Se7en is definitely on my top 10 movies list.
Shawshank has one of the most satisfying endings. This one had one the most fucked up endings.
The ticking thing was a metronome. It's used to keep time while playing music.
Ok. Real talk. Hannah being happy that you finished her hypothesis is so sweet. In unhealthy relationships people get jealous or mad when their partner fills in the missing pieces. Like, “That’s what I was GOING to say!”
But there’s you two high fiving, sharing a kiss, and Hannah proclaiming, “That means we are a great team!”
Also, her threat in the intro to make us subscribe was just… just everything. I wanted to unsubscribe just so I could subscribe again. 😂 I made sure to hit like though.
