always someone has to be a wise guy. Dion does not hide the fact he was an addict. I bet you all would love to be that famous and make his money. I just saw him 7/11/15 at the State Theater in Easton PA to a sold out, jam packed, people standing and rocking. He was great. People should worry about their lives. Every singer and performer has problems. You got to love the music they gave us.
You're right. And Dion is older than Mick Jagger and Keith Richards and he doesn't look as worn and ragged as they do. Maybe he quit sooner than they did but his entertainer lifestyle didn't interfere with his ability to look good for a man near 80 today. And he is the epitome of cool.
What makes me happy is that some of our entertainers survived. They say we invented rock and roll, but in my sixth decade, I enjoy doo-wop more. I really belive the stars we had then, will never be seen again. Best wishes to Dick Clark, for making us feel comfortable in the 60's. CHI-Town Monk
Creci con el rock and roll y Dion es unos de los grandes exponente de esa corriente y a la vez interpreta la soledad adolescente con esas hermosas baladas que con nostalgia recordamos
was real lucky to spend early childhood in the bronx... crotona ave, just blocks from belmont and where dion and his crew originated. one of the belmonts, angelo, signed my 6th grade autograph book. totally cool!
when songs and music was enjoyable, listen you millionium, real voice , beautyful harmony, no autotune!! yes they're amps and mics, but that's all the électros they have!!
I remember this (vaguely). If I knew Dion was scheduled to appear on any particular show, I'd always tune in. This looks to be around the dawn of acidwash jeans, '87ish maybe. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Dion said that he was supposed to board the plane with Buddy Holly, Big Bopper, and Richie Valens. He chose to take the bus-it was cheaper. He said it has haunted him ever since.
Paul Barnes They were actually going to charter a plane. I believe it was about 35 dollars back then. They intended to split it three ways. Since they were four : Buddy, Richie, Bopper, and Dion. One of them was going to have to stay back. At the time Richie was getting really sick. He was a Californian kid not used to the brutal winters in the Midwest. That was one of the reasons why Richie boarded instead of Dion. Also, Dion had this image in his head that 35 dollars was a month's rent, and because of that he was very skeptical about paying that much money knowing how his parents tried so hard to make ends meet when he was younger.
Julian Cano That's what we the young folk have to be thankful for. Technology allows us to look back into the past and see that there is nothing new under the sun.
That is factual for sure . But for DAVID BLATT AKA Jay Black to get on a live radio show that was om film to say that was pretty tacky . But then again Jay is pretty tacky and about washed up in the the business. Ans how do I know this ?? Because I promote and produce legendary original 50s 60s 70s rock and roll staged events
Thats because todays bands are created and pushed together to sing bullshit songs. People like Dion, Bealtles. Dean Martin, Sinatra, Sammy Davis, anyway you get the picture. Music has gone to Americal Idol winners and Jonas Brothers do I have to say more?
Hey Dion my Cousin Patti sits right behind you in church down there in Boca Raton Fla.She told you were a good Christian man. Love that!!!!
The back up vocals by the band were spot on .
🎼They were perfect 😊👌
This guy knows music better than most. His blues is some of the best, in my opinion.

Jesus, everyone at that time making great music was an addictthat's nothing new everyone got cleaned up and that's that.
Plus he wrote a great song about it, "Your Own Backyard" and he's been sober for 40 years. He's the man!

Probably the coolest cat ever.....love this guy...and so glad he's still around.....and love this song. better now than then for some reason.
And 10 years later he is still around. That's amazing.

Lou Reed (may he RIP) held this man up as an icon, an exemplar. Every time you see him perform, it's obvious why.
I loved Lou Reed !
]
Reed who?
Pamela Drake With incredible new stuff out in 2020 at 80 years old and in impeccable voice and stellar musicians accompanying him.
@@brianherrington7226 YEA!! dions 2020 album

Yes...Dion basically invented NYC rock and roll style and attitude. And Lou Reed, who made a career out of it, celebrated Dion and his influence.
Classic!

The TV show was in the 80's, Letterman's early years, but the tune is from the 60's. Letterman was not on TV in the 70's yet.

Had to be 80's.
Dion is as hot today as he was back when he started

How old is this clip? That was a very young David Letterman.
Al can do anything!
I recognize Sid, Paul, Anton, and Will, but is that a young Jimmy Vivino on the Strat?
yep !
You left out perhaps the greatest of them all, Jackie Wilson.
Did Dion get air play in France way back then?
@kyannos
What other songs do Al and Joe sing? Is that really Di Nero on piano?
Is that Jimmy Vivino on backup guitar on the right side of the screen?
