I think it's cute and wonderful. The times appeared more innocent but Dion actually had a heroin addiction since his early teens which I found shocking. I didnt know heroin was a thing in the 50s. Anyway he appeared to have kicked the habit and has gone on live a good life. Good for him. Not many escape it.

Orion Simpson I am 63 and faintly remember hearing the fifties hits as a little kid. My dad loved the big band era but had an open mind about the new sound emerging. I remember him telling about seeing Elvis on the Dorsey Brothers show. I have always been a big fan of the fifties era.
There is no other song that captures the innocence, simplicity and sweetness of the 50's better than this song, the lyrics, melody and Dion's voice. Now at age 80 + he can still sing this song with the same pathos and beauty of those younger years, amazing.
Wow! Dick Clark looks very young and he did a great job as host of American Bandstand. He always had class acts. Each time we have a quarrel, it almost breaks my heart, Cause I'm so afraid that we will have to part, Each night I ask the stars up above, Why must I be a teenager in love? One day I feel so happy, next day I feel so sad. I guess I'll learn to take the good with the bad. Cause each night I ask the stars up above, Why must I be a teenager in love? I cried a tear for nobody but you, I'll be a lonely one, if you should say we're through. Well, if you want to make me cry, that won't be so hard to do. Oh my god. I consider myself someone who has a bit of heavy armor when it comes to love songs but I find this completely disarming. This should wake up the love blushed teenager inside of all our hearts. He’s up in the balcony and basically coming down from the clouds with little cupids around him. Sheesh. P.s. I think the 50/60s gave the nerdier young men a chance to shine, we’ve lost that.

My children don't care so neither should anyone else. This music will never die.

A great time to grow up in. The economy was booming . The cars were much better . The houses were cheaper. And then came Vietnam iam just thinking how many of those teenagers in the audience died in the rice fields and jungle of south east Asia .sad very sad
Imagine being a teenager at this time not saturated with streaming and total access to whatever song you ever wanted to hear. A totally new, fresh and exhilarating sound! Can't even imagine
Why did most of the shows in the late 50's, early 60's not allow the act to sing live? ... Dion & his crew are as good live as on vinyl... the old guy's still Rockin n Rollin.
Dion & the Belmonts sang this at The Winter Dance Party on Feb. 2nd, 1959, only hours before the crash that claimed the lives of Buddy Holly Ritchie Valens, the Bug Bopper and pilot Roger Petersen. the song wasnt released until a month or so later and didnt chart until April. What an amazing moment it must have been that night at so Surf Ballroom hearing Teenager in Love LIVE for the very first time!
@@georgepoth1967 if memory serves me correctly, I think drummer Charlie Bunch contracted a case of frostbite while riding in those school buses with inadequate heat or no heat at all. NOTHING came easy on the catastrophic tour, yet the guys gave it their ALL, continuing on even after the crash .

No pertenezco a esa década de los 60s pero me gusta la música de ese tiempo esas si son canciones románticas me hubiera gustado vivir esa época dichosos los que la vivieron que canciones para no olvidarse
Such simple and beautiful music, I'm still in 'love' with do wop. After all these years!!
Guy on left couldn't be any happier being there...
no, he saw your ugly face in the crowd.

Es la primera vez que disfruto de la canción con su actuación. Con 60 años que tengo nunca antes. Muchas gracias.
I love the Dion and the Belmonts
Es un deleite escuchar está música...me encanta!!
Listening to this song and remembering the wonderful memories I have with my late mother who grew up with this music and passed it on to me!
A great time to grow up in. The economy was booming . The cars were much better . The houses were cheaper. And then came Vietnam iam just thinking how many of those teenagers in the audience died in the rice fields and jungle of south east Asia .sad very sad
These are the greatest sounds ever produced in America!
Can you imagine the sheer shock of that young lady if she had only known that over 60 years later we'd be watching her interview with Dick Clark?
My girlfriend made me fall in love with this song 1000000 times
im young n I wish I grew up back in them days

Jayy Datt when the ww2 was going on? Hell no
I don't believe world war two was in 1959 XD but point understood
Unless you were black or a woman... then you'd be screwed...
Lars Rye Jeppesen
Honestly, black people and women are still screwed today. Not much progress has been made unfortunately.
The technology and sound systems were not reliable at that time.
However, all performances on the "Ed Sullivan show" were live.
can never get this type of music again its just an era that was dynamite
Dion & the Belmonts sang this at The Winter Dance Party on Feb. 2nd, 1959, only hours before the crash that claimed the lives of Buddy Holly Ritchie Valens, the Bug Bopper and pilot Roger Petersen. the song wasnt released until a month or so later and didnt chart until April. What an amazing moment it must have been that night at so Surf Ballroom hearing Teenager in Love LIVE for the very first time!
And Buddy Holly played the drums for Dion that night.
WOW, I hear the up-right bass player hitting those low bass notes with sheer precision and keeping perfect timing for All, a true professional musician.
Yes indeed, he/she mastered that instrument
