Class and elegance is how i would describe this XC90. This came out in 2016 and back then this was already the best in its class if u ask me. 2020 refresh got even better and this still has not aged one bit. This goes for all volvo models. Its not to boring and not to much going on, thats why this still looks brand new. Interior design and materials will never age. The layout of materials used and where they were put makes this seem like luxury at its finest. Though i wonder how the wool seats would hold up overtime. Like if u spilled stuff, is it gonna leave permanent stains like cloth seats would or are they as good as leather?
@@hdhdhhehe6709if you get it serviced properly and on time there won't that reliability issue . You need to remember that it's a car there would be some issues
I had a 2006 and just went to 2022 T6 Inscription. Mad that they did the touchpad for the sunroof, glass shifter, Google, mild hybrid the next year. I don’t use the wireless charger either so wish I didn’t have it. I like my Seville gray, but I like the newer metallic gray better. Grrr. Don’t want an EV. Will probably go to another SUV after my warranty if they phase out the XC90.
My airball would be the backseat functionality of folding and unfolding. Thats to complicated. Literally if there was a bad storm u would be drenched cuz yes its clean and what not gonna work. Running 2 laps around the vehicle to put the seats up and down no. I feel like a power option should be standard at this price point. Thats a bad takeaway from this vehicle. I mean if u have 1 or 2 kids u should if u don’t use the 3rd row often but if u do, its something u wanna keep in mind when looking at this.
Until you look at the EX90. Not so much the exterior but the interior. But some people don't like the EX90 because it has floating screens rather than integrated screens. It is a lot more modern, however. The XC90 was originally going to be retired by the EX90 but the EX90 is BEV only and delayed so the XC90 soldiers on.
The taillights are totally unchanged since 2016. North American models all get red indicators because laws allow them here, unlike EU. Some people swap them for Euro tails just for the look.
@@QuintenRobinson I know that they're "allowed" here but amber is safety and Volvo has always been synonymous with safety. It kind of goes against their way of thinking in my opinion. Thankfully, Polestar has amber.
I bought my 2020 xc90 t6 inscription a few weeks ago and just hit 1000 miles on it in my use. Incredibly comfortable and easy car to drive, really like it as a daily. The depreciation is impossible yo ignore, but for me, thats how I was able to get mine in my budget. At 45,000 miles it had dropped from a $73k sticker to $39k as a CPO car.
I’ve watched a few of your videos trying to decide between this, the MDX, Grand Highlander, or Tahoe. I’m pretty bummed there isn’t a wireless charger but overall I still really like this car. The seats in the back with no straps though..ick!
I see 'classy' when it comes to Volvos, but I don't see 'luxury' when viewing the interior . Nice and very understated. But I've seen far more luxurious interiors in less expensive SUVs like the Lincoln Nautilus, Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit Reserve, Acura MDX, Cadillac Lryic just to name a few... This interior reminds me of Subaru's design language.
You have to go and sit in it to feel the luxury part (at least for the ultimate trim they are reviewing). The design is dated, but the quality of materials & craftmanship is much higher than both Jeep GCL summit reserve & MDX (these are the 2 I've sat in). You don't see that much of cheap materials that are still visible in those 2 vehicles. Granted some of the lower parts should be done better (i.e. wires under the front seats are visible from the 2nd row if the front seat is moved forward a bit), but in general, it's much better than those 2 you mentioned. I'd say most of the visible parts are on par with the higher trim X5/GLE/GLS, worse than X7, but better than Q7.
Very effective review. Thank you. We've been shopping for a luxury SUV these last few days. Watching your video, it was a very sure buy for us until you got to the part where the second and third row seats can only be manually controlled, walking to the left then walking to the right... very awkward, very old, and very stupid for a luxury vehicle of Volvo's caliber! Somebody at the company had overslept since the 2000's. Too bad.
With all the entries in the luxury segment I can't see why many would buy this anymore. Yeah it looks good, but it's also old and there are plenty of 6-cylinder luxury SUVs around and even some V8s in this segment, as opposed to this over stressed and over complicated 4-cylinder. This thing would have been really sweet at it's introduction with an I6, and engine configuration Volvo knows something about.
I am waiting on my new 2024 XC90 T8 plus dark PHEV electric energy is 21.1 kWh with electric range of 42.3 miles in UK. I wonder why 2024 recharge model you got has capacity of 18kWh?
I have never understood the consistent gushing by so many in the automotive press over the XC90. First, the IC engines are woefully underpowered and inefficient given the price point, and the Recharge is extremely expensive and PHEV remains a niche application. Besides that, the platform is aging and is notoriously and consistently unreliable. I know some people get a “good” XC90, but I had nothing but problems with my T6 - the transmission went, multiple wheel bearings and brake rotor issues, spark plug wiring, engine mounts and suspension components failed and cooling system leaks. Then the electrical system developed gremlins and I got rid of it. The vehicle looks elegant but just does not deliver given its competition.
Volvo was great until Geely bought them. Since then our last two have both been lemons. Geely is cutting corners and cheaping out on quality, we won't be returning to Volvo.
Does a SUV really need 455HP? When 70% of drivers on the road only know how to gas and break? Oh and Volvo, your commercials on UA-cam are sooooooo annoying.
Volvo today is not more than Chinese junk , i have Volvo 2022 electric with lot of problem , change the battery under waranty , new in the box ( MADE IN CHINA ) ,,, and noe electric motor is very noisy ( NEW IN THE BOX ,, MADE IN CHINA ) , i pay for Volvo and i get Gelly made in China ,, all the parts MADE IN CHINA
China is a very large country, not everything made there is crap, that’s western culture turning oh china makes cheap stuff for cheap into a stereotype. China like any other country makes cheap stuff, as well as good quality things. Footnote: China is the largest exporter of electronics and EVs and not to mention that 95% of iPhones are made in China.
Appreciate the noise level reading AND the comparison with noise in other cars 👍
Should note, ours is prepared for wireless CarPlay. It’ll be pushed via an OTA update, according to Volvo. We love it so far!

I would think wool would tear as well sooner than leather, but what do I know.
Love Volvos. Very subtle but effortlessly luxurious.
I hope Volvo offers a grey/black wool blend seat surfaces in the future.
$85-90K and I can't unfold the seats from the cargo area is kinda crazy. But a nice SUV overall. Great vid!
Thanks! 👍
Uh, fine wine gets more expensive as it ages...
Xc90 depreciates and breaks down more than any other car

I have a 2018 XC90 T6 and debating if I should upgrade to the PHEV or B6. Volvo for life!
No payment, vs a payment for the PHEV and essentially the same car. Easy decision for me. I have a 2017 T6.

Snap , done little mileage have had two abs sensors fail at the cost of Uk gbp £1280 , not amused .
Still a best SUV I definitely want to buy one.
This is pretty timeless, I'm glad they kept much of this styling for the EX90.
My favorite..."what's going on you.....tuuuubbee"
Great video of the 2024 Volvo XC90!! Great job Drew & Mason!!

Nice review and beautiful car…I just don’t know about wool seating when the summers are getting warmer and warmer. I’m sweating just writing this 😅
The design is still fresh and modern

Why did Volvo move to red indicators? It's a separate housing, separate from the brake light, so why? Do you guys ask the dealers about this?

Excellent review as always!
Thank you
Still one of the best luxury SUVs. Especially in the PHEV model

For that price one would expect sound and air suspension included. Disappointed with the seats manually operated.

Ok, second viewer. Anyways...the XC90 is actually pretty interesting. I like it.

Great review. Just went out and bought one and love it!
Thanks and congrats on your new XC90!
How is it going?
I know this is how Volvo operates, but this is practically identical to the first gen 2018 XC90 we used to have.
There are cars... And there is Volvo. Two different categories. 👏 👏

Getting the 2022 model so I can get visual exhaust
Why did Volvo remove the R-Design model or look?
Imo, the rear seats don't recline enough in the second row
Dear. Sir.
As a result, nothing major change on 2024 XC90 compared to 2023?
Correct
Which is the softest riding car in this class or competition ??
Probably the Mercedes GLS with air suspension
still the best-looking suv! I wonder when they will redesign it!
There full electric EX90 is sort of the successor and that should come out in the first half of next year
No way this looks better than the MDX. This design says 45 & up 😭
Taking orders in November for early 2025 delivery. Not a fan of the new look.
Ultimate T @ $90 g without power tilt, cell charger or 2nd row cooling and a punishing 3rd row. Really?
Is the audio system bowers&wilkins as said, or bang&olufsen?
Is the map on the digital gauge cluster really google maps? Other reviews said it was not.
No strap to lift 3rd row is a huge zonk! Thats terrible and the total opposite of family friendly
Hmm the same as XC60 - 2024, nothing new. The same care basically. Just wait for a full revamp, it really needs it.
Funny, I’m not feeling the newer look for 2025.
Name of this colour please

I think it is same. Usable capacity vs total. Also wltp vs epa cycle range.
Wait the front seats aren't ventilated? If so its a no go im in Florida warm all year round
Not if you choose the optional wool seats. But otherwise, yes
How would the 2024 XC90 Recharge stack up against the 2024 BMW X5 xDrive 50e?
Volvo is bigger. BMW wins on other factors. Even 3l gasoline engine is more efficient than Volvo 4 cyl. Not to mention larger battery on BMW.
If you are in the Bimmer you will get an excellent view of the xc90's tail end as it pulls away leaving the Bimmer in it's dust
wool is great because it doesn’t scald you like leather does. Good on Volvo to offer the “vegan” option to those who want it.
what happened to the mpg video
We will be posting it soon!
I'm glad you addressed it, I've been searching for it.
Very nice exterior but below par ergonomics and engines. And a lousy warranty.
1st comment ever
It looks OK from the outside and on the inside it's very dated and lacks on key features for a vehicle at that price

I have a XC60 Polestar and have B&W sound, I think it sucks. I much rather have the Harmon Karson. B&W has no bass
You should head into the settings and manipulate the quality to whatever you like. It definitely has the ability to produce extreme bass
I have the Ultmate version. The umpteen-speakers sound system is simply dreadful. Very poor for a car in this price range.

We don't control the ads, but if you want to get rid of them you can always start using UA-cam Premium
Thanks Volvo, making shitty looking chrome the only option was a great idea....
The design is getting rather stale IMO
Sorry but interior is soo dated...
The interior is really disappointing. Definitely would not buy based on that cabin design.
What’s wrong with it?
Why is it Chinese cars come standard with features these so called “luxury” brands don’t have ?

I don’t like wide lenses. They’re making the car look too stretched out around the corners.
