I purchased a 2024 XC90 Recharge Ultimate on 12/08/2023 and drove 1600 miles from my home in Vermont to my home in Florida. The ride was fantastic and very efficient. I did not have to worry about range anxiety. The technology in this car is amazing. The adaptive cruse control coupled with pilot assist, lane departure guidance and forward looking radar made the trip very comfortable, quiet and safe.
I currently own an XC90 Inscription (not hybrid) and its the best car I have ever owned (our family has owned 9 Volvo's over the last 20 years and still have 3 in the garage) The XC90 Recharge will definitely be my next purchase - this hybrid is the best of both worlds and its classic understated luxury results in a very desirable brand!
This is my first Volvo and I'm super impressed so far. After my first 400 miles of city driving I don't think that I've used even one gallon of gas. I test drove the Audi Q5 plug-in hybrid and then went across the street to a Volvo dealership and drove the XC90. Although the Audi is a great car the XC90 easily won the day and I never looked back at the Audi. When it comes to luxury high performance hybrid SUVs the Volvo XC90 Recharge is an unbeatable value.
I have been driving XC90s for over a decade. I raised 3 kids in these cars and you cant beat them for a family. They make long road trips a dream. Im about to buy my 4th and am really looking forward to getting the hybrid.

because electric sucks; isn't as reliable and just as bad environment so there isnt really a point in it. a v8 would be better overall option. sure bad gas millage but if you can afford an xc90 to begin with then that shouldnt be an issue for the owner.
Some strange ommisions I don't get: they got rid of the scrolling wheel behind the start/stop switch to change drive modes, no arm rests in the second row for captains chairs, and no way to put the third row back up without doing it from the second row. Other than those, I've always enjoyed this generation XC90 especially for the Bowers and Wilkins.

Volvo has been able to really push out some astounding product. All though the last few years have been rough transitioning from ice to ev. When Geely bought Volvo and said, go back to Sweden, go crazy, spend billions. Make a great car so we can finally be apart of the game. They did and it saved them from Saabs fate.

After that, Geely developed a new SPA platform on which they built this XC90. Therefore, it is not Volvo that needs to be thanked, but Geely for preserving the brand and being able to create a wonderful SUV.
I just rented one of these in the UK, but it was a diesel. Great power, averaging 36 mpg with a 600 mile range. Far superior to this plug-in hybrid imo.

Our 50th anniversary trip we’re driving it all the way down to Italy and then back to Germany to drop it off after 2 1/2 weeks. Bmw lost not having the European delivery program anymore. I love being a bit the order exactly what we want and getting it exactly the way we want. 72 years old and still driving on the autobon. in Germany. Thank you, Volvo for keeping this program open. We’re driving from Gothenburg at the factory all the way down to Italy and then back up to Germany go Volvo.
My first car was a Volvo 760 Turbo - hard to beat a rear wheel drive for fun when you have that turbo engine and a 5-speed on the floor 👍👍 Merry Christmas Joe 🎅🎅🎅 Keep up the awesome job!!

Only if there's a digital rear view mirror. When the wiper comes top down, the lower corners of the window doesn't get cleaned. This leaves dirt and water spots in the corners making it much more difficult to see the road when looking in the mirror.
Frankly,I'm surprised that you didn't include the 2023 Aviator Grand Touring and Black Label Grand Touring in the comparison. While the safety tech may not be on par with Volvo's, they've got that twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 engine and a 13.6-kWh lithium-ion battery with a combined 494 horsepower and 630 pound-feet of torque in their favor. Not to mention that velvety smooth-shifting automatic and all-wheel drive.
Mid chanel inside is not anymore for RWD shaft but they used it for battery. RWD is directly given by electric motors. That’s why they didn’t lose space in the trunk.
You are spot on with the horn button/airbag on the steering wheel. Man! It needs to be replaced with something more elegant… Hey Volvo pls redesign the wheel for the mankind.

Because volvo has not update their light design since 2016 model year, the reverse lights are actually NOT LED, sadly. This makes the visibility pretty bad when it's dark. Also, for some reason, the only change they made to their lights was that they removed one of the rear fog lights. There used to be 2 and now there are 1. IMO, this wasn't a silly choice, im guessing they saved someone money on the LED bulb and just removed it. Could have just turned the reverse lights to LED instead.
The lack of physical buttons for commonly used controls is a disappointment, as is the access to the EV/hybrid drive modes through menus. Also, the exterior color choices are extremely limited and mostly a letdown.
The Google operating system uses plain language commands for climate control so you really don't need to fuss with the menus. I agree on drive mode and color selection though
Just went for my last Xc90 recharge ultimate and very disappointed that they are not bringing the T8 in their all new design EX90 for next year, we are not ready for family EV’s due to poor charging infrastructure…. Shame but absolutely loving my new 2023 Xc90 even though it’s not really changed much since the launch in 2015
