We just bought the xc90 t8,I wanted the BMW X5 40i but men those stif seats and that big screen was just too much,I test drive the T8 since my wife owns a recharge twin c40 and I was impressed with handling of the T8,did a research before making the deal with the dealership about problems with those supercharge turbo in the T8 model year 22 and earlier models and noticed that the new ones don’t have supercharge turbo no more, instead they increase the power of the rear electric motor and man that thing runs very well with 462 hp and 523lb of torque,I still can believe the fuel consumption because is our first plug and hybrid car, last thing to mention is that I switch or swap with the dealership the 22 inch diamond wheels it came out with 20 inch instead for better drive comfort and perhaps less pot hole problems.
Great review. I totally agree, I owned a 2021 GLE 350d and loved it, it had 7 seats but unfortunately they were unusable and there was no space left in the boot when all 7 seats were up. Beautiful interior and technology was a real treat of the MB and I had a the previous steering wheel with proper buttons. So I'm up for a search for a 7 seater but no longer than a 5m SUV but with PHEV, and the only brand is Volvo who offering this set up in the UK. I'm waiting to see the new 2025.5 model but I have the feeling that I will go with this 2024 model as I really like the look of them. And for me based on some videos of the new one, I just can't justify the extra cash for a new bumper and stick on tablet...but lets wait and see. I think we only receiving the new XC90 in our showrooms in 2025.
The 2025.5 XC90 will be a nice update but it's not going to change its size. Most of the changes are to the styling, updated infotainment system & screen, and a few ride improvements. It will probably be more expensive than the 2024/2025 models so you may find some discounts on them once the '25.5 arrives. I probably won't get a chance to review it until next year.
In the Volvo XC60 the max clamed electric only distance is 81km. I can usually make this distance easily on my XC60 2024, and the max distance, so far I managed to drive electric only was 90km. It depends on the style of driving. My previous PHEV was also always giving me 110% of what was claimed by the manufacturer. Volvo is a great car! I was choosing between MB GLC300e and Volvo XC60. So, Volvo felt more spacious, more luxurious, faster, more responsive, more trunk space and softer with air suspension.
Are you in Europe? I've had a few conversations with owners of these & other PHEVs telling me that the rated all-electric range is longer than what I quoted in my videos. It seems that the European cars have more range overall as the XC60 T8 is rated for 58 km (35 miles) here in North America. And that's roughly what I managed to get out of it when I reviewed it a couple years ago: ua-cam.com/video/rSA5ROp6468/v-deo.html
I am 6 foot tall 230 pounds guy. I had ML270 and X5 2010 edition. Both great cars with wide comfy seats. I have tried 2024 X5 and 2024 GLE - both have the worst hard sport seats you can ever imagine. Especially GLE. The seat was so hard I had back pain in 30 minutes test drive. Also the central consoles for both are ginormous. Means if you are big guy you are squeezed between the door and the central console. Mercedes use to be comfort car. Not anymore. Next month I am buying XC90 PHEV which has the best seats ever. If you want comfort go for the Volvo.
Very good comparison.. Thanks a lot.. I went for Volvo XC90 T8. I would consider Mercedes or BMW if they were available with the specs comparable to Volvo in Turkey, but seeing what you told in the video, it seems I didn't miss anything..
Great review and to the point. I owned a Volvo Xc90 T8 since 2017 and recently drove tested the 2024 Recharge update which while felt a completely different car in the Driving/suspension departments it however felt the same in terms of comfort and practicality departments. Within our household we drive a VW ID3 and had in the past a MB 200e, BMW X1 and BMW 320i. The XC90 was miles ahead with technology in 2017 and is still the familys' favourite. The Kids can spend long hours in it enthusiastically than they do/did in the others, the Bowers and Wilkins is a treat, the air suspension is a bliss and the quiet ride when in EV mode is a bliss. I only wish if Volvo will add some of the features they are bringing in the new EX90 such as 4-wheel steering. fast charging and off course larger battery/milage for 70+ miles range. I would not be thinking of the BMW X 500e
But what about ground clearance? And a few inches are A LOT. They mean different category of vehicles. Anyway, an SUV it is far more practical than a sedan. And theese luxury SUVs are way more beautiful and practical and full of tech than any Toyota. The only strong point of Toyota is reliability, nothing else. Sorry to say that, but it's true...
@@dancojocaru9092 "And a few inches are A LOT" -- No, it is not. Particularly when you cram a third row of seats in. As for "luxury", wait until it starts falling apart. I am not looking to impress anyone. "But what about ground clearance? " -- All of those vehicles live in the cities. Even in California potholes are not that deep.
@@mountainhobo There is no conceit in my case. You own a Toyota sedan (and seems you are very proud of that) and I expressed my opinion, which is not very favorable to Toyota cars. I said "sorry" because I didn't want to hurt your feelings, if you think possibly your Toyota sedan is the best thing in auto world. And about SUVs, I like them, for many reasons. It's not about off-roading, of course, but it's about versatility. And I like their shape and proportions. I don't like cars with little ground clearance, even if they never go off road. And SUVs are anyway taller than sedans. When you get older you will enter the SUV easier than a sedan. You can also climb any curb in the city when you need this, and when you go downhill or uphill, even in the city, you will not hurt the front spoiler. About luxury cars which has poor reliability, you can assume this or not. Anyway reliability is just about statistics. A Toyota is very reliable, but is not trouble free, just has fewer problems than other cars. So, theoreticaly you may own a Land Rover (which is the least reliable brand) which can be trouble-free. But you can also have a Toyota which is, unfortunately, a lemon. It is very little chance for this, but theoreticaly is possible. So if you buy a car only for its reliability ranking, even if you don't like it very much from other aspects, you may fail, and receive neither emotions nor peace of mind.
@@dancojocaru9092 "(and seems you are very proud of that)" -- Why are you making up this sh#t? You prefer to talk to voices in your head, fine, go ahead. I will mute you now.
So, I had to compare the two in this video for myself, you are 100% correct the Volvo does have more power, and you are 100% wrong on the Volvo (SUV), Volvo had NEVER made an SUV, cars and wagons only, you can cheapen the day and say they are SUV'S however, they and wagons, so you are comparing 2 SUV's to a wagon.. PERIOD. Let's be honest here and call them what they are... comparing SUVs to cars or wagons are two different animals... I have enjoyed your other videos, however, its simple inaccurate to compare cars to SUV's.
@@MGReviewsBlog Volvo has never made a SUV, they only make cars or wagons, they body design and height are not of SUV standards. the body chassis are completely different,
@@robertwheaton4115 What?!?!?!?!?! Go to Volvocars.com and select "Our Cars", first section you'll see is "SUVs". Turn your everyday journeys electric with our luxury plug-in hybrid SUV. " - www.volvocars.com/en-ca/cars/xc90-hybrid/
Again, Volvo can claim to call them what they wish, however, simply LOOK at the line of options, none are SUVs, cars and ill use the word (station wagons), BUT, at this point lets simply agree to disagree, if you want a Volvo, then get one.
Solid and unbias review. Perhaps, the best review ever. Clean, crisp and factual.
