I hope they will add the option of ventilated second row seats the way the S90 offers that. At the price range of the XC90, it should offer that feature since it's meant to be a comfortable & luxurious family SUV. Other less expensive crossovers & SUVs from mainstream brands offer that besides some other luxury brands but this really needs to include that
It looks great from the outside (was expecting a EX90 rear end) The central screen is poorly integrated. They could've just kept the same screen size and just improve the hardware and screen resolution.
The previous 9" screen this had was already looking small compared to other midsize crossovers & SUVs that now have 12.3-14.5" screens in the middle for their infotainment systems, which is helpful for wireless CarPlay & Android Auto especially with some climate functions being integrated into the screen
They are the number one company that develops technology for more than other companies in fact other companies purchase technology from them what the fuck are you talking about do your reading a little more
@KAYJAYSTUDIOSYT Its going to take more than a new screen on a pre-production prototype to reassure consumers after they have been complaining about the tech for years. Its nice its finally being addressed but we cant say how good it is until official reviews and tests are done.
I just had the XC90 for a couple of weeks as a loaner, and despite its age, it was blue and beige interior and i had a lot of compliments. As a car enthusiast and a Volvo owner, i would appreciated more updates, but that isnt what their consimer is asking for. The main issue with Volvo is their google based system. I really wished they kept Sensus, it really works better and more intuitive than the google system. However, that google system is sources from recent polestars, not the pre-refresh model, which does work better. Volvo has limited resources and they have big competition. They just run at their own beat.
My 2022S 60 had Sensus and “energy distribution using maps data” worked great. My 2023 S60 has google and “energy distribution using maps data” doesn’t work. This is an important feature with PHEV‘s on a longer trip, but I guess that’s progress at Volvo. Oh, and the ‘22 phone app was an order of magnitude better than the 202$ google replacement app.

Volvo is one of the few companies that can get away with not fully redesigning a car for a decade since their cars are understated yet elegant and beautiful. That interior display needs work though since it looks like an afterthought. Otherwise, still beautiful on the outside.
This new Cardamom Beige Nordico looks so nice I'm glad to see they brought that over from the EX90 as well. It's seems like you could get heated & massaging front seats with the Nordico leather depending on the trim or option list per trim, but if they won't let you get the ventilated front seats with the Nordico leather that's really weird

Never knew that Volvo is not using wireless car play that is wired for this vehicle for 2026 XC90. Interesting, but this is a great vehicle to look and see its styling too.🤞🏼💯🙌🏻
Beautiful color. I like the refresh, just wish they’d have a competitive 6 cylinder powertrain to compete with the X5 and GLE. I didn’t buy this in 2015 when it came out because I don’t trust a turbo and supercharged 4 cylinder. Nor do I want a turbo 4 hybrid. I’m about to buy my next suv and this likely won’t make the list because of the engine options.
I really hope they will finally let you get the middle Plus trim with ventilated Nordico like you can get on the EX90 if you don't care about getting the Nappa leather. They could easily give the Plus trim the perforated & ventilated Nordico leather material & just keep the Nappa leather & massaging front seats as Ultimate/ Ultra exclusive features
Very nice and on always on time video. The major problem with all these new designs which are very nice but the prices almost every new SUV is way overpriced and depreciation is going to be there nemesis.
The 11.2" center display is still smaller than other crossovers & SUVs in this segment that have at least a 12.3" screen or larger depending on the model. It's a welcome upgrade but they should've made it at least 12.3” with less black bezels around the screen
I own the 2016. I wish the Volvo made more changes and a Polestar performance version. But on the other hand, this could mean my current one will hold it's value well. As such, I can't justify trading mine in.
I hope they will change their minds & let you get the Nordico leather with ventilated front seats since you can get the Nordico leather with ventilated front seats in the EX90. I have the 2016 XC90 and this car does look that much different. Why would I trade up, when this car doesn't have a wow factor? The reason the German's are winning is they aren't scared to think outside the box and be different. Volvo plays it too safe.
meh not enough of a refresh to bring in older volvo customers, I had a 2021 xc90 inscription - this looks exactly the same, and you are correct they should have made this car bigger.
The new diagonal slats would look better if they were going down vertically from each side of the diagonal arrow in the logo. And why did they get rid of the LED fog lights? The new front end kind of looks weird but the new 22" wheels look beautiful!
I have had two xc90’s from this generation. A 2016 and a 2018 model and I still have the 2016 one. This refresh is what should have been done 4 years ago. At 10 years there should be a more significant change. At this point my 2016 that is a similar color to this looks about the same. I wonder if the front cap is interchangeable, I know it doesn’t look like anything has been done with the rear end at all. I agree big missed opportunity. We were holding out to see what the new Volvo xc90 would look like before pulling the trigger on a new vehicle. It seems like a dud compared to how much better the 2016 was to the previous generation.
I guess this is what happens when you decide to go all electric, then realize it is still too early for that and have to hurry up a quick design. It just seems like it’s reusing existing parts from its older generation and other models. Ford and Chevy do this same refresh, but it is normally after 2 to 3 years before a big redesign after 5 or 6 years. I don’t like things staying stagnant as far as design. I guess Volvo is on the same track as Toyota, but at least with Toyota you get a bigger change after 10 years. Did they layoff most of their design team? Also where is the xc100 or 110, the bigger one they were working on years ago?
I get the minimalistic design but they seriously need to improve the in cabin utility. The lack of storage space gets annoying after a while. That was the only gripe I had with my 2018 XC90. Even sedans have better in cabin utility.
Looks like a life cycle type update with lights, grill and center infotainment center upgrades. I like it but would like to see more of an upgrade to the overall interior and exterior design. Maybe 2026 will be the year.
This is it. Volvo has created a next generation big SUV and it is the EX90. The XC90 was supposed to be cancelled and replaced by the EX90 but the EX90 is electric only and the market for EVs didn't grow as fast as Volvo anticipated. That's the only reason why Volvo is updated and keeping the XC90 around for this long. Volvo is going to introduce a bunch of new cars. The EX90, the EX30 have already been introduced and they teased the ES90 today. They are going to bring out an EX60 in a year or two as well. But as long as hybrids way outsell BEVs, Volvo will have to just fiddle and slightly update the current, last generation cars and that may be for 5 years or longer.
@@benjaminsmith2287 I was hoping for all the EX90 styling into the new XC90 recharge....then I think it would be a nice touch for a complete refresh. Especially interior.
Manual tilt steering wheel. Volvo used to represent safety, but now they seem more concerned with people fumbling around to adjust the heat and AC while NOT looking out the windshield for cars, stoplights, and the asphalt below.
Before you all say it’s dated you’re objectively wrong. It’s aged well so why mess with it? Plus it still excels in so many ways that even newer rivals can’t match
If they're talking about the screens and stuff, they're just dumb. It's better this way anyway. Less distracting while driving and easier to look through at a glance. I don't get the whole "one whole touchscreen fad.
They didn't do enough, especially with alot of luxury brands ACTUALLY doing the work rite now. Genesis, Lincoln, Lexus, Infiniti, and Cadillac all just brought out serious winners, this just doesn't cut it and i love Volvo. I love the grille though, looks much better on here than on the hideous new X3. Great Review, EX-90 looks better.
A lot of people will want the faster onboard charger once they realize what it does. The RAV4 Prime’s base model comes with a 6.6 kW onboard charger. Volvo is supposed to be luxury, they should be ahead of the competition not behind.
@@thrash123ful no the xc90 does it under 5 seconds vs 5.7 for the rav4. And the Volvo handles better and doesn’t drone because of the cvt and the Volvo is far nicer too
Just get the wireless adapter. Not a big deal. Many people like a wired connection better. Sometimes you don't want your phone's content available for others in the car to see.
I have a T8 Ultra and one thing I could say that needs upgrading is the infotainment system. Though they made it bigger in the 2025.5, it needs to be horizontally bigger not vertically. This would allow for better views when using the camera system and maps. Kia's and Hyundai's have better camera systems, but their quality sucks. Additionally, why isn't the apple carplay wireless? Overall, they could have done a little better with the interior, maybe added in some ambient light options.
Will this translate into deep discounts for the outgoing 2024 and 2025 models? I don’t think the update is worth waiting for or paying MSRP for the refreshed version
But have they fixed the quality issues? That's one thing I wish you car channels would actually address when reviewing these new models. What have they done to address previous quality gremlins?
Here are my 2 cents on what I see here. Volvo banked on EX90 as the next model, then they had a lot of issues with producing it (still do) but something needed to be released. So the management decided to "re-release" XC90 but decision went in too late, so all they had time to do is update front grill and literally slap a larger screen. Since the screen doesn't fit in the older dashboard (they would have to redesign the whole dashboard for that) they put it in front and made it a "style" choice. I love Volvos. I loved and seriously considered getting one a while back, but what I see now is just disappointing. I truly wish this is just a snag and they will recover, otherwise Chinese carmakers will finish them :(

Looks fine Volvo EM 90 made in china
@@benjaminsmith2287 I was hoping for all the EX90 styling into the new XC90 recharge....then I think it would be a nice touch for a complete refresh. Especially interior.
@@benjaminsmith2287I wish they didn’t get rid of the V90. I currently have a 2017 XC90 T8 R but I’d trade it in for a V90R in a heartbeat.
oh good, I can watch amazon prime videos while I drive....lol
Would love to see car companiea bring suv to the us without standard rear window tints
Beautiful, much better look than EX90.
no wireless CarPlay? what the heck
Where are the fig lights? I use them often on my current xc90.
A handsome car 🚗 indeed. With Volvo being a Chinese owned brand, I’m shocked that that they didn’t launch an all electric ⚡️ model !
That model is called the EX90
@@theredline thank you! Cover it next…I’m all in on the electric ⚡️ bandwagon
@@Novilicioushe reviewed it the other day, the ex90
A lot of people will want the faster onboard charger once they realize what it does. The RAV4 Prime’s base model comes with a 6.6 kW onboard charger. Volvo is supposed to be luxury, they should be ahead of the competition not behind.
But a rav4 prime is nowhere near as fast or as dynamic or as luxurious or as roomy or as exciting as the Volvo
@@naveenthemachine They are both around 0-60 in 5 seconds also the prime has way better plug in range.
@@thrash123ful no the xc90 does it under 5 seconds vs 5.7 for the rav4. And the Volvo handles better and doesn’t drone because of the cvt and the Volvo is far nicer too
@@naveenthemachine I mean there both still pretty close besides being to different car segments with a 25 to 30G difference in price.
No wireless Apple CarPlay!? Yeah, no thanks. I’ll be keeping my 2023 B6 Plus
Just get the wireless adapter. Not a big deal. Many people like a wired connection better. Sometimes you don't want your phone's content available for others in the car to see.
Love it
I have a T8 Ultra and one thing I could say that needs upgrading is the infotainment system.
With its Geely support, I cannot understand why they can't bring in a slightly bigger screen which most of the EV Geely cousins have.
Oh yes, the front grille is simply awful. The old concave grille is iconic.
They need to make the space 36inches rather than 31inches in the 3rd row seat
Will this translate into deep discounts for the outgoing 2024 and 2025 models? I don’t think the update is worth waiting for or paying MSRP for the refreshed version
They should of given the interior a full refresh
But have they fixed the quality issues? That's one thing I wish you car channels would actually address when reviewing these new models. What have they done to address previous quality gremlins?
I like the update. Definitely shares the family face. Perfect evolution of Volvo bland.
I am quite surprised there has not much has been changed xc90 good for first own Volvo customers and boring for previous volor customers
That cargo space seems bigger than 11, 30ish, and 65ish cubic feet (depending on the seating configuration)
It looks bigger than it is. With the 3rd row seats up you can’t fit a full size stroller in back.
Looks like a station wagon
