Great conversation Ceri. I love UA-cam and watch alot of it. I have found so many interesting channels. I have gained so much creativity through people like you generously sharing. I love the UA-cam crafting community not a huge fan of social media in general 😊
Thank you As a senior this was extremely helpful to me. Also I don’t feel so backward when I realize others have some difficulty understanding how all this works 😊
Really interesting chat Ceri, thoughtful and well articulated. It was all the more relevant to me, as I've gone through all the social media platforms and removed in the same way. I too don't watch TV anymore and I watch a lot of UA-cam and my watching is diverse as well, i can learn, be entertained as well as laugh. I do have Instagram but i use it as my digital art gallery only, that's it. I also get some inspiration from artists on there and then follow them to UA-cam. Agree with the your comment on Pinterest and thinking i might move my art over there as i use Pinterest for inspiration pretty much every day. 🤔 And it will get me away from Meta. Keep up the great work Ceri, I really enjoy your coffees with Ceri video, they are always thought provoking. From a fan down under 🇦🇺💜
Thank you for a very interesting chat. I am 75 and I just love technology - most of the time. I have no idea how I found you, but I am very glad I did. Keep up the good work.
I do FB and UA-cam only. I have a life outside of the crafters world. Many crafters have forgotten the golden rule; personal lives do not need social media attention.
I’m a visual learner also. UA-cam is where I learned gel printing and am still learning. My day starts with WORDLE, e-mail and Facebook. I’m a squirrel on UA-cam. But that’s how I found your channel. So much media, so little time, as I look over at my crafting stash. Thanks for your thoughts.
Wow, really enjoyed that coffee Ceri, thankyou. I use social media more for learning, have f/b, youtube and pinterest. Finding I go onto f/b less and less, mostly once a day, love youtube for following you and three other crafters, I have pretty much learnt all I do with junk journals from you guys, pinterest I love for ideas etc for zentangle drawing and journals. So very very many hugely talented folk out there, it is such a lovely, inspiring and supportive family to be involved in. Thankyou again for all you do, all your videos and inspiration. ❤❤😀😀😀😀
Ceri, you are 200% correct, I only spend time on UA-cam and Facebook to keep in contact with friends and family that are out of town. It's a full-time job to keep up with the other website, I would rather craft. I really like UA-cam, thank you for your candid discussion, enjoy your evening.
I have facebook for friends and family and I look it once every day to see how they are doing in my home country. And I watch youtube in the evening, I never watch tv. I can´t make videos and I don´t share my craft making. But I love to follow other crafters that are making wonderful things. Thank you for being one of the people that make the days better🥰
Wise words Ceri. I am so glad that you choose to stay on UA-cam as that is the only social media I use. I have been inspired by you and other artists and crafters to try a lot of different types of crafting which has helped me a lot since my husband passed away last year. I'm a couple of years older than you and find social media all too confusing and time-consuming - after all, when I was growing up there weren't even home computers! Keep doing what you do.❤
Great video Ceri, I couldn’t agree more. Trying to get some sort of traction from so many different platforms is too much, and my experience is the same as yours,. Thank you for sharing your experiences. Big hugs xx
UA-cam is what we watch more so than the regular tv channels but there are so many ads breaking up the videos we watch. I find that super annoying. Pinterest I watch for ideas for crafting just for my own pleasure. Talk about rabbit holes! I fall into them all the time! 😜
I like social media. It helps to keep my sanity in the right place when my sense of humor takes holidays, but sometimes it's a little bit too much to keep the track. Thank God for people that make so many beautiful an funny videos around the world. Thank you Ceri to turn our lives a little bit more bright 😊
❤ I'm so very sorry for your loss. That's just awful to go through, and I'm just going to send you a hug. You can rant if you want. You are grieving and they don't make it easier.
ANother fabulous very useful talk... never really under stood any of the social bits of it all either...sometimes I've joined twice by mistake! 😊 have a great week....
Hello dear Ceri, so much info. I’m not tech savvy either. My grandson likes to help me. I’ve never had twitter. I wasn’t a fan of it the first time I saw it. I have a UA-cam account, a fb group plus my reg page. and instagram, but, I too am noticing that no one has come to my UA-cam channel from there. Pinterest for me has become nothing but Etsy stuff. It is frustrating. I still enjoy it though for ideas and inspiration. It just takes pushing more buttons now. I thank you so much for this chat Ceri, it has benefited me so much. Have a blessed day dear man, take care ❤
Love UA-cam! I'm right there with you as far as Pinterest and the squirrel! Had to laugh because it is so true! I only joined Facebook years ago because my daughter started posting my grand daughters baby pics to the family, etc. Otherwise, not so much because I don't get a lot of posts from my friends and family.
Thank you, Ceri, for your pleasant, candid take on social media. I have always enjoyed UA-cam and Pinterest…so many ideas and inspiration! At the same time, I’ve let social media keep me from fun things I used to do like decorate my home, make cards for friends and be outside more. I liked when you mentioned some things weren’t working for you so you dropped them. You’ve inspired me to evaluate where I spend my time and make some changes.😊
Interesting informative topic. Agree totally. Since I retired I definitely spend too much time on UA-cam etc. I especially think UA-cam is a great learning tool. I've just found your channel as I was looking for journaling tutorials and I'm now working my way through your videos. Thanks for sharing your skills and techniques, much appreciated 😊
I'm 64 next week and I'm amazed at the tech skills that many people have. I've never had Twitter, Instagram, nor Tiktok. I've shut down my Facebook and Nextdoor accounts. My brain can't handle the techie pressure.
Wonderful chat Ceri. I don't have a business so not using social media in that context. But I do feel like it's pretty overwhelming and one has to decide how to spend their time. Like you, I don't watch TV, I watch/listen to UA-cam tutorial type videos. I LOVE to look at Pinterest but as you mentioned, I need to be careful or too much time passes. Mostly I just like to work in my craft room and have UA-cam on while I work. Oh and i like to have my afternoon walks ... not listening to a podcast or talking on the phone ... just walking and listening to nature. As always, thank you for sharing. ❤
THANK YOU for posting this! I am a crafter/artist and have had an Etsy shop for several years. So many people have told me I "need" to get on all "the socials" to promote my business. I was on Facebook for years then 2020 happened. Here in the US the events of 2020 deeply divided us and Facebook became a place where people argued and shamed each other instead of sharing so I deleted my account and have been off social media for the last 4 years and very rarely miss it. So I was not happy thinking it was something I would have to return to in order to grow my business. I very much appreciate your viewpoint and sharing your experience with us!
I so enjoy your honest opinions. Jumping thru social media hoops has become insane, & feels like another job. I miss my FB groups, but I personally don't enjoy that platform anymore as it's become a political battleground. I love IG, but don't post regularly, but have it set up to post to Pintrest automatically. I have to drive my own traffic to my Etsy, so an occasional announcement is made there. UA-cam is my TV show of choice. Thanks again for keepin' it real. ❤
Yes, yes, yes! I, like others, only do FB and UA-cam and these days, the main reason I go to FB is to participate in the art classes and groups I'm part of. UA-cam is awesome. And I do love Pinterest for saving and organizing what I love. I dare not do much searching there because I'll squirrel and waste the day, too. LOL!!! Thank you for sharing and being honest. I think for those who might be considering a business, hearing these experiences is really important.
Thank you, Ceri! You talked thru so many things that have been going around and around in my head. I’ll never be a UA-cam star, but now I have an idea of how to share with family and friends.
I'm 66 in the Southern US - I am woefully out of sync with the whole social media phenomenon. I do have a FB but due to our political cycle I've not visited it for a few months. UA-cam is enough rabbit holes for me. I am soo grateful to all of the talented, gracious crafters I've been able to learn from. You are a delight Ceri❤
Ceri I feel the same way on every level. I’ve gotten rid of everything except Pinterest and UA-cam. I pay for the “No commercials” and LOVE being able to watch every video without constantly being interrupted. I waited until I got the message at the bottom of the Home Page on UA-cam to get the lower rate of $13.99 per month. It is SO worth it! Good chat today! So I have go ask where you got the butterflies boxes and what sizes are they? SO Pretty! Thank YOU for all you do for all of us! Much love, Julia. ❤
Currently I only do UA-cam and FB where I learn and share as much as I can handle. You provide so much valuable information based on your experience and experimentation!
I love watching you doing your art. I could watch it everyday. I've been in a deep depression for over a year. I lost my son to drugs. When I watch UA-cam it takes me away from my pain. If that makes sense. I have never gotten a grip on Instagram or other site besides Facebook and I don't go on Facebook much. But I was so addicted to Pinterest. I have so many boards lol. I did a lot with my grandkids.
Great chat., I’m a senior and I do not want to learn anything more when it comes to navigating social media ventures. I think I do very well but it’s not as you said how I want to spend my time. I love UA-cam. And in all honestly I don’t know how I would have survived without it over the last 5 years. I’ve learned so much from all of you. I have Facebook and Instagram, but hardly get on Instagram You brought up some very good points, all of this can suck up your time before you even know it. Happy Halloween!
Brilliant video! Thanks for sharing your wisdom and experience. I'm thinking of starting a you tube channel in the future (perhaps)and like you I want to spend more time having the joy of creating and painting rather than spending a lot of time with tech stuff I don't understand and scrolling. So all your info extremely helpful, thank you. PS You don't look 65 - you look much younger. Cheers 😍
I’m really enjoying and getting a lot out of your views and ideas about social media… I struggle to maintain 3 accounts…much prefer Pinterest also!… I think to be successful with Instagram you had to be there right at the start… Sadly the bigger accounts don’t follow the little guys back… Enjoying your videos too!
Ceri, I'm not sure how I came upon your videos, but I'm SO glad I did. I'm a card-maker, so I don't do any of the things you teach, but something about how you teach and how you speak keeps me watching, and it's a happy day for me when I see that you have posted another video. It just makes my day. I do have a question, if you see this post... If I watch and like, does that benefit your channel and does commenting and sharing a benefit your channel? None of my friends unfortunately craft much but I was wondering how to give back for the privilege of watching you craft?
Linda any interaction with a video or video channel lets UA-cam know that the video is interesting and if UA-cam then shares it as well these actions will certainly benefit me. Thank you
Thank you! Your observations are spot on! The only thing I could add is that reading Aldous Huxley's "Brave New World"; decades before unsocial media, it foresaw what the world would become.
I want to do a UA-cam page but how do I video myself and make sure it is filming correctly? I am thinking I would use my phone to film and monitor myself on my laptop? Does that make sense?
Ceri I look forward to your videos and watch every one of them. I don’t think you show off in your videos, you are very talented and teach a lot of people your art. I have tried some gelli painting using the colors and your techniques but they never turn out as beautiful as yours but I had fun trying. Keep your amazing videos coming. Question for you are you planning on doing Patreon on utube? Social media is hard on the brain sometimes. Keep up the good work looking forward to your next video. Take Care❤️
Thank you for the reply and to be honest I’m happy to hear that. Being retired having to watch my spending as I’m sure you understand. I just don’t want to miss your videos.
I love U tube and FB. And Pinterest is too addicting and too many ideas, it easily gets in the way of life. I don't go on it often anymore, unless I am looking for a specific idea. After COVID I don't go outside much. I do my social contact through social media. It works well for me.
Hi Ceri, you should do those Ko-fi where they ask for a coffee( money) donated to them! That could be another source of income. Or you could also do Patreon to bring in more money. Just some ideas that I have seen others do. God bless
Ceri, I’m 72 and have removed Instagram, 4 months ago. Took Pinterest off a while back. I have Facebook but not sure how long. You tube- I’ve really cleared a lot of channels out.
I do UA-cam, Facebook, Pinterest, and Instagram! I also have a website and a Facebook group! I also need to be more consistent with posting to Social Media! Lately I have been in a creative funk but I think I’m coming out of it! I love watching all of your videos!
Very. Interesting Ceri❤, I use the. Automatic feature that shares whatever you post in Facebook to other. Platforms (ig, tik tok, I don’t do more of that). Of course if there is a comment in any of those accounts I answer and understand that with your amount of subscribers that could be a heavy task. In any way I think platforms will be always adding up and we need to think what we need, not what them need to make more money😂
I mainly watch UA-cam, I don't watch TV anymore. I've learnt so much from UA-cam, and I love your videos ❤
Thank you
Ceri: well done! Social Media should be a part of our life, not our life! Carol from California

Thanks for this ceri! Very insightful!!!!!!!!!
Thank you for keeping your Facebook page! My grand daughter is still absolutely chuffed that you replied to our messages. 😀

Super analysis. Reevaluation of ‘cost’ (time, energy, money, emotion) is a worthwhile effort. Thanks for the reminder.
Excellent advice. Thank you for your honest viewpoint.

Thank you Ceri - you posed a lot of very helpful questions in regard to social media.
Glad it was helpful
Hi Ceri. 🎉❤
Oh my goodness! I'm new to your channel. But wow, did I need this video!!! Thank you for sharing it!!!
Thank you and welcome to my channel.
Pinterest was my first one but UA-cam is still amazing can be on it for hours and probably learned more than any expensive workshop 😂
I really love UA-cam the best! 😊❤
What a wonderful Coffee With Ceri. I swear we are "twinnies" LOL. Just spent 30 mins nodding... HUGS xxx
Oh we’re definitely linked in some way. ❤️
Yes, yes, yes! I, like others, only do FB and UA-cam and these days, the main reason I go to FB is to participate in the art classes and groups I'm part of. UA-cam is awesome.
Thank you Laurel
Ceri I feel the same way on every level. I’ve gotten rid of everything except Pinterest and UA-cam. I pay for the “No commercials” and LOVE being able to watch every video without constantly being interrupted. I waited until I got the message at the bottom of the Home Page on UA-cam to get the lower rate of $13.99 per month. It is SO worth it! Good chat today! So I have go ask where you got the butterflies boxes and what sizes are they? SO Pretty! Thank YOU for all you do for all of us! Much love, Julia. ❤
Julia the boxes were from a stationery store here in the UK called WH Smith they hold A4 pieces of paper.
@ Thank you for such a prompt reply! I really need to find a good stationary store in Central Texas!
I also love Utube.I don’t watch too much TV either, but I watch Utube for everything 💕
Very well put. Hope your coffee didn't get too cold.
I fully understand I use my art to escape the world.
Happy Halloween

Brilliant video! Thanks for sharing your wisdom and experience. I'm thinking of starting a you tube channel in the future (perhaps)and like you I want to spend more time having the joy of creating and painting rather than spending a lot of time with tech stuff I don't understand and scrolling. So all your info extremely helpful, thank you. PS You don't look 65 - you look much younger. Cheers 😍
Thank you ❤️
I’m really enjoying and getting a lot out of your views and ideas about social media… I struggle to maintain 3 accounts…much prefer Pinterest also!… I think to be successful with Instagram you had to be there right at the start… Sadly the bigger accounts don’t follow the little guys back… Enjoying your videos too!
I'm quite challenged with computers. You tube is practically the only place I use. Thanks for teaching me so much.
You are so welcome Cheryl
I don't have interest in the business side of social media, however, I enjoyed your take on it and I still listened/watched :)
I am the same way with Pinterest, it gets my brain fizzing sometimes to the point of being overwhelming. I’m glad I found you on you tube.
Thank you Belinda
Agree with you
Thank you! Your observations are spot on! The only thing I could add is that reading Aldous Huxley's "Brave New World"; decades before unsocial media, it foresaw what the world would become.
Interesting
I want to do a UA-cam page but how do I video myself and make sure it is filming correctly? I am thinking I would use my phone to film and monitor myself on my laptop? Does that make sense?
I film on my iPad but I think most artists and crafters on UA-cam film in their phones.
❤❤❤
Ceri I look forward to your videos and watch every one of them. I don’t think you show off in your videos, you are very talented and teach a lot of people your art. Social media is hard on the brain sometimes. Keep up the good work looking forward to your next video. Take Care❤️
There are no plans for me to do patreon.
Thank you for the reply and to be honest I’m happy to hear that. Being retired having to watch my spending as I’m sure you understand. I just don’t want to miss your videos.
I could not agree with you more.
God bless

I watch UA-cam every day….my tv is on in the background, but not really watching it. I use Pinterest also, but that’s about it. No Facebook, X, etc.
I would also be lost without my bestie UA-cam 😂
Love your your channel. You kidding. You not 64. No way!
Oh I definitely am. 😁
@CeriGriffiths you look very good. I think its because you keep busy and don't sit and think of old age. Well done.
Ceri, I’m 72 and have removed Instagram, 4 months ago. Took Pinterest off a while back. I have Facebook but not sure how long. You tube- I’ve really cleared a lot of channels out.
It just makes things simpler if you only participate in the things you enjoy.
I can’t open a lot of Pinterest sites. Maybe there is something I am not aware of.
Oh I’m not sure why
I went to UA-cam to help me fix a broken headlight on my car.
I do UA-cam, Facebook, Pinterest, and Instagram! I also have a website and a Facebook group! I also need to be more consistent with posting to Social Media! Lately I have been in a creative funk but I think I’m coming out of it! I love watching all of your videos!
Good luck and all funk ends.
