Another awesome cover, Bro! Man you've got the later Edward Van Halen thing DOWN. Those are not easy tones to capture, but you are nailing it. Dialed in! And of course... you've got the chops to back it up too. Killer!
Thanks Jimmy! Once I read the article where Eddie talked about how he recorded Balance, I had another piece to get closer to his later tones. www.guitarworld.com/features/1995-guitar-world-interview-eddie-van-halen-regains-his-balance After this later stuff, I'm going back to 1984 then VH1 to try and get close there as well.
I said it before the other day with another one of your covers. This tunes perfectly stands on its own as a instrumental. Absolutely no need for a singer (no offense to Sammy's amazing talent)... And to think that I am an early VH fan, ah ah!
Thx for another good one! What pedals do you like to goof on beyond the Kemper?? I went the Avid Eleven route years ago when it was introduced (I'm a tech nerd.) Now getting back into the pedal realm for the raw challenge. Feelin' the want for a Music Man.
Thanks David! No pedal currently. Only DAW plugins. I record with the Kemper but only use the amp and cab. That way I can change the effects later after recording.
I hear ya. Lots of fun dialing in the efx post outside of nailing the playing technique. Sounds like you spend some time on that part...I love it, just wish I played as well as you! Thx for the inspiration.
Yea, it's a tough gig to play Ed's stuff for sure. I think there are a lot of players that can play his stuff but not really well. When I think of players that are great at this I think of players like Pete Thorn, Lee Q Wu, and Jacob Deraps. These guys get the little things right that the other 99.99999% get wrong.
This channel should have way more exposure.
Totally agree!
I wish it had too but the channel has a strong following with the few that do and I appreciate that fact that anyone listens.
Great cover mate... I actually have never heard this song. It's awesome!
I’m loving this channel. It’s my go to when I’m learning a new VH tune or just need some inspiration to pick up the guitar. Great playing!
Thanks and it's great to hear the channel is helping you. :-)
Keeping the legend alive - great work - it's cool to see you having fun and smiling while doing these 😀
Glad you enjoy 'em Dragon! I really do love playing.

Balance is by far my favorite VH album. Keep rocking brother!! 🤘
Thanks! Will do!
Awesome
Nice playing! I've always liked the sound of the FUCK and Balance albums. Edwards skill level was so high and tight at that time.
Thanks! Yea, Eddie was at his height from 1984 through Balance. I did not like the sound of the FUCK album because it was missing his Marshall.

Yea, it really shows how great of a songwriter Eddie was. Many can play this stuff but only one dude wrote em.
Amazing playing! I'd love to play guitar like you. By the way, when I listen to Aftershock's main riff I cannot help but air guitar along.
Thanks Marco!
really enjoy your VH covers!!
Glad you like them!

Thanks again!
One of my favorite Hagar-era songs
It sounds good without vocals

Yes, it is mostly what I do now. It really is where I learn the most at this point.
U can release this cover songs as a tribute album to EDDIE..AS AN INSTRUMENTAL ALBUM.......PLEASE!!!!!!
Hmmm, that is a good idea!
Do it please!!!!!

@@TheRetroGuitarist I love how Phil X honors Ed. He's another VH Uber nerd and love how he shares his infectious love of it.
Yes! Phil is a badass for sure and he knows what Eddie did for all us guitarists.
