I have done it according to the video, it works! After doing French polish, my violin becomes shiny, it's very beautiful. Thankyou Daniel!

I bought my first violin and had my lessons with Mr Tia in Amadeus in 2007! Its a 4/4 Valencia brand, and the thing still hold's up and I'm so thankful for the owner pushed us to buy the full sized ones. today I got it out of the case and it still looked like it did 14 years ago, minus a few strings of course. I'm sorry for not practicing Mr Tia...

Thank you for sharing how to do this. You know your stuff. I am trying to figure out how to do a neck reset. Do you have a video on that?

I love the varnish crackling. In fact I would like to know how to age the varnish so that it produces the cracks. Anyway, thanks for the tutorial. I like your videos.

@ 9:47 Real french polish doesn't have lots of ingredients, It's simply shellac and alcohol. Applied with a fad or rubber and using a lubricating oil (not a hardening oil) when required (I think you use too much oil).
It's the process that requires care, not the recipe.

Please tell me what kind of red colors I can add to my shellac to varnish my violin. Please refer to many colors because I am living in a small city without access to various materials. By doing so, I may find one of them. And please say your idea about saffron. Thanks.

Hi. You could put the name of your friends shop near where you're work table is or put the address in the name of this video as I didn't know where the street is, in Malaysia. 🎻🎻🎻
That was really interesting to watch how you cleared the cracks out. 💐
When you said use a bit of oil first, do you mean mineral oil, or baby oil. Did you say not to use olive oil, soy bean oil or vegetable oil because it is food grade oil used only for cooking? 🍟
What sort of oil do I buy if I want to do this, please?
Thankyou for sharing the craft you have learnt, it's very kind of you. 🙏

You don't state if the original finish is oil or spirit based.
If it is oil based then surely an oil based varnish is a better repair than shellac.

Please don’t do this on a old valuable violin under any circumstances .... sand the varnish. This is called craquelure .... and highly desirable on many Venetian instruments . As varnish ages it wears off naturally ... Many modern Italian makers have this in varnish ... think Fagnola ... and many rub it off ... removing much of original varnish ( Especially in Asia) big mistake...be patient ... instrument has a long life ahead

  • @peterwhite7428

    Your sandpaper is too strong.
