This is, by far, the best video I've ever seen on UA-cam on the subject of rehairing bows. Every step is show clearly - though I learned to do the tip first; there are always differing ways to do things that are correct - and, as one other person said, there is only the visual presented without verbal comments, and, no annoying music. Thank you, sir. Ausgeseichnet.
I'm loking that the wedge has enough space for the hair and go not to deep in the ferrule - just the half depth. So i'ts no danger for the Frog. -Better than the wedges made from "softwood"!!! With the hammer i'ts a question of the force. I have never problems with the ferrule ring!
he has one sharp knife!!! does anyone know what he is putting on the end of the hair after he burns it and and mashes it on the table, super glue? Ive watched this video 6 or 7 times and still learn something new every time i watch it, thank you so much for sharing your talented skill
at 20:16 mark, that two pieces of curved metals are so fit for frog to hook on to, so we are ready to comb the hair. Can you please describe it that how and where you prepare to make this device of 2-piece metal hooker?
Wenn die Keile genau eingepasst sind braucht es keinen Leim. Wichtig ist auch, dass der schrägschnitt mit den Kästchenwänden übereinstimmen. Das Holz darf nicht zu weich sein. (Ahorn!)
Hello master greetings, I would like to know if we could help with the name of the three tools used in this video to fix the bow as it would be of great help for us to learn a little more of this great art thank you very much
The glue is "Superglue" Cyanolyth! The length of the hair its depend of the thiknes of the block. The lines are the beginn and the end of the filament coil.
for 14:53~ on, can you please instruct what kind of glue do you use to apply on the hair knot? Is there any brand of glue that come with the small-brush cap? If not, where can we find a bottle with brush?
Thank you for a beautifully shot and informative video. May I ask what compound was in the milk bottle? You used it to give a quick clean/polish to the bow stick.
The white liquid in the milk jug. Looks like varnish cleaner to me I used to get mine from a gentleman in Ohio looks like the exact stuff that I used to get from him. 1 some of the best polish I ever use but for some reason I've tried calling the gentleman back and the phone has been disconnected I sure hope he did not come down with Kobe

Thank you for sharing your method of rehairing a bow. It is interesting how each person have their own little variants on achieving the same result, a properly rehaired bow. :)
All wrong! Wrong sequence, wrong preparation, wrong camera work. Amateur performance. Please, read historical documents how to do this thing. Nose first, then tail.
@@danielschranz3193 Nose first, then tail. Thick bow hair must be at bow's top end and going to be installed first. And I see too many hair. The bow will be overloaded. Here is the video how to do this the right way: ua-cam.com/video/AvzxdueIMrM/v-deo.html

@Steve_Burnt hey buddy, you must be in the top 10th percentile of most stupid-dumbest people on the internet and here's why: You have Zero skills at both making videos and violins. You haven't made any content on your chanel. Your lack of videos says that you don't even have enough skills to even be bad at making videos or violins, yet here you are. Declaring how stupid you are from the comfort of your keyboard. How about the next time you feel like trolling, stop and think. You should assume that the other person probably knows something that you don't. When you troll like your comment here, you miss out on an opportunity to improve your own knowledge. But that's only sad *if* you value knowledge. Heck, you might not, but give it a try anyway and see if you learn something.
This one is by far the best one I have seen on UA-cam

I have tried both. I like frog first because it is easier to make even spread and less hair crossing.
Schöne Arbeit, und die Vorrichtungen sind eine gute Idee.

Muchas gracias por el video. Quisiera saber que madera se puede usar para los tacos o cuñas

Thank you very much, what kind of thread do you use ?
can i use any type of wood to make wedges? or it is mad of a specific type??
I use acer from old briges. The wood should not be to soft!
but dont hard woods make the pressing difficult? They dont settle as good as softer woods like linden.

It looks like a homemade device to me. You can rig anything you like to hold the frog to comb the hair, even your knees.
Maestro, what is the liquid in which you soaked the hair in?
lothario4one It's melted rosin. Rosin is applied to a bow so it "grabs" the string. Better if you just look it up.
wait nvm I dont know. sorry
lothario4one probably soapy water, other people simple wash it in the sink

water. Make it easier to comb and stick together. Like some barber do.

You are right, but where I come from a master in his craft is teacher to all, and teacher is a 'maestro'.
How much does this usually cost?
About $87 Australian Dollars. So maybe around $60 U.S. ?
No annoying, painful, commentary - just a craftsman at work. Thank you for the enlightenment. Garry.

May i know why not use back the old one for the thing in 5.45 ?? I see the old one still take out as one piece. Thanks first
I think he could have reused the old pieces, but he made new ones just for demonstration purposes for the video.
Does anyone know the white liquid used to rub down the bow at about 2:00?
