Looking Awesome guys. If you've got time and you're looking for bits, take run down Grand Junction Rd and around onto Cavan Rd and have a squiz at Paramount Browns. It's what we call the big boys shop. You may find some bits that help with your build. I've bought spotlights and worklights for my ute from them, and every trip to town I end up taking an box full of bits home. They do have 4wd recovery gear at very competitive prices. I hope you've already found Savers just up the road from you too. amazing what you might find there as well. Can't wait to see the complete fit out.
Great to see the progress and preparation required before painting. I'm at the stage of just finishing all the rubbing down of the rusty areas in the accommodation box on our Land Rover in preparation for the rust proofing treatment, primer and paint. We live in Scotland so lots more rust! Looking forward to watching your next stage!
Doing great work so far. Are you falling in love with the old fella? I've been in a year long journey getting an old '83 Nissan Patrol Shorty back on the road to go touring next year! It's so rewarding, working on old cars. After so many years work they really have some character and deserve the love and care needed to keep them going. Plus it feels good to fix everything yourself and not pay 100+ per hour for a mechanic... Keep up the good work, can't wait to see the next instalment !
Yes please insulate the engine bay of the cab, plus more! I travelled around in the Pilbara in summer in the same model landie and the heat generated from the engine bay cover was unbearable. Be great if you can afford to put some sort of air con in Nigel :)
Your not going the wrong way, it's going to be a nice little truck van. The trips you now can do, things can be fixed and add ones. Been working on our camper, caravan. It's just on going and money. See you soon on the road. Russell
Hi guys..we’ve been watching all your videos and thoroughly enjoyed them. Not sure if you’ve tried Poly synthesis custom made poly tanks in Brisbane. We’re having one made up for our Campervan. We have a 80 lt and wasn’t large enough so we’ve doubled the size. Sharnie is great to deal with and will make up size to fit. Hope that helps ! Good luck with your build and safe travels. 😀 Di and Troy
You took the words right out of my mouth. I have done lots of travelling by road around Australia but in my latter years. Retired in 2005 and bought myself brand-spanking new Honda Jazz an in 2006 I did a lap in it. I missed out on many places but I got the bug. Next vehicle was a non-turbo Trakka conversion Transporter, solar, two house batteries, pretty much the works. I ended up selling this one at a profit of $6000 sbout 18 months later, then I went smaller.. VW Caddy Maxi, designed the layout myself but had it done professionally, 40 litre water tank, porta potti (never used it), 60 litre fridge, single bed. Solar. I called it "Caddyshak" and did lots of travelling before ill-health forced me to sell. I'm still going well. Hope you have a great time in your "Landie", iv'e seen how much fun yoo've had in the Volksie.
Nice progress guys, your coverage of the sound deadener makes sense, did you consider swapping out the fixed windows for sliders like the other 2? Although I’m sure even if they were available they wouldn’t be cheap. I was originally concerned that you aren’t insulating the ceiling but the rooftop tent should keep the temp down a bit. Looking forward to the next step. Lovin it guys 👍👍❤️
I have to ask was this once registered in WA as XLR 767? If so, I took him from Perth up the Gun Barrel across to Townsville and down to Sydney - then sold her to the Postman who drove him back again. Good luck with your travels, great car
We bought this from a guy in Victoria so I don't think so unfortunately. Sounds like such an adventure you took yours on! I hope you find where it ended up :)

Absolutely love it so far! Very willing to get my hands dirty and learn the ins and outs of it all that's for sure! Such a rewarding experience :)

Maybe an ankle vent in the door?
Chucked some carbuilders on the t2 kombi, really rate it too. I'm looking at that and then car builders van insulation for heat in my ceiling too.
Wow it's already looking great. Can't wait for the next episode!!!
Lots of progress made. Anxious for next video. Have a good week. Hope to see you soon 😊
Looking super good guys, enjoy the awesome weather this week!

Looking good! I have that sound deadening stuff in my van and it really helps.

Looking great, what engine does Nigel have, still the Land Rover engine?
Thanks Corbin! Yeah it's the original 2.25L Land Rover engine
