Make sure the line from the canister to the purge valve isn't cracked or has a hole in in. You will still get the code. Perform a visual inspection of the line .

to reiterate, the Jeep is a 2004 Liberty, 6 cyinder engine. the gas cap and evap purge valve have been replaced, no other codes show when I check the ignition. Just P 0441. I have visually checked the lines and no visible cracks anywhere. The purge valve was checked before replacement and it wasn't holding any pressure after testing it.

Thank you for the lesson. My car has an purge valve, but it is a straight tube from canister. Canister itself has no sensors and the tank has no sensors also. It is an 2003 Skoda very basic. Now I have the p0441. I can only imagine an defective purge valve. But how the ECU knows that it is defective? It measures the output current to the solenoid?

2007 Toyota Sequoia check engine light lit up and the other lights as well. Gas cap has been changed, gas cap always is tightened correctly. Now I am told that the Purge Valve is making the check engine light up, nothing to do with the gas cap. Yes, that's the most common cause that triggers the code. We also suggest checking if there's an issue with the related wiring, vacuum line going to the purge canister, purge control solenoid and if there's a vacuum leak.

Ok I just got this code 3 days ago on my 2008 Toyota corolla le, car was running fine and suddenly as I got on the freeway and accelerated to get to speed 70mph the light came on, I got home and used my scanner and noticed this p0441 code I erased code and the following day as I drove it for 7 miles on stop and go traffic I got on the same freeway and check engine light came on again as I accelerated to 70mph, so I ran into your video and I knew my gas cap was perfectly fine, so I did this test on the canister purge valve, the car was parked so it was cold so I started the car and removed the hose to see if there was any suction and no, no suction at all but after a few accelerations t heard this noise and sure enough there was a lot of suction, so my question is, is it normal that when car is cold and you start the car that there's no suction at first and once car starts to warm up suction sound comes on very strong and loud, or does this test that I did confirms that purge canister valve is failing ? I'm just confused because there is no suction when I first start the car until it gets warm ? I love this car and I rather go to my local Toyota dealership and get the oem part.

But because I don't have time to experiment I'm just going to take it to the mechanic to have it diagnosed so they can fix the real issue is probably going to cost me more 1000 dollars but buying another 2008 corolla would cost 10,000 dollars and there's no guarantee that it will actually run better than the one I have right now.
