Going from engine to evap canister looking for cracks and loose clamps. Spray all hoses with silicon spray too inside and out.
What does the thing with a hole right next to the + red rubber battery terminal cover do and what is its name or why is it there ? Many thanks for the video !
That square with the hole is just an extra bracket for other uses and other things like wiring and such..nothing is attached on this model with the 4 cylinder..the same air cleaner can be used in other models
Excellent! Very clear shown and explained.... Does apply to the hoses Aerospace 811 seal helps to preserve the hoses? Unfortunately, wrapping electric tape around split hoses (as many do) won't resolve the leak but the hoses are sold by linear foot and are relatively cheap. I got a code P0456, beyond the hose leaks and the canister purge valve fail, and gas cap seal crack, what else can be? may be you can do a video of a smoke test?
Its any hoses or lines coming out of the gas tank vents, the gas cap neck has a hose connection to the tank besides the gas cap and the purge valve..as for a smoke machine, I would like to get a real one and not make a home made one...😆
Mine was the gas cap that caused the error. Passed my smog after changing it with a $33 one from Toyota Was told Toyota corollas need Original gas caps.
That's not true. I bought a gas cap through O'Reilly and I passed smog easily. It just need to close tight so theres no gas vapor leaks or air going inside the gas tank
Thanks for information. I have code PO456, I replace gas cap and engine light is off. But code indicates Evap purge vale but I notice hoses can be turn easily like in the video, will replace tomorrow. 2011 Tacoma, sluggish when accelerating on highway.
P0456 won't give you that sluggush problem at all. Should clean your throttle body, throw in a bottle of gas treatment and water remover in the tank with high test gasoline and burn the whole tank down.
You may be correct, before engine was overhaul, truck was parked for 4 months, drove it after I pour 1 bottle of gas treatment and drove it, it ran fine. @@indian23hhs not at all..its a few clamps connecting the hose and you twist it or put a cut in the hose end to split it open to remove..then just replace with the same length and new clamps on the ends.
Sure did work and yes if you want to drive it around it should go off after many starts, might be up to a month but since inspection was due soon, clearing the codes will give you a head start because after fixing a check engine light, it needs to be used and run through cycles of on, off, highway driving for 15 min, then slow traffic etc..same thins needed to clear a permanent code after a fix. @@alyoungcuda. I have a p0441 and I watched several videos about testing purge valve and I performed every test and the valve seems to be perfectly fine but the hose that connects to the valve and to the canister is a almost as bad as yours but is so dry and stiff that the clamps are not doing anything, I'm thinking that might be my problem because the car is running perfectly fine with zero issues so I know is something very minor that the computer is detecting and that's the only code I have, but the question that has me intrigued and nobody has mentioned at all is this... when the car starts the valve is closed but as the car is driven it opens up, so my question is if I'm driving let's just say for 30 straight minutes in the course of those 30 minutes is the valve supposed to stay open or while the car is driven non stop is the valve supposed to close and then open as needed ? The reason I asked because I'm wondering if maybe even though I performed all this test and it seems that the valve is perfectly fine that maybe the purge valve could still be sticking and staying open while I'm driving ? I just don't want to spend money on a valve I don't need and the hose that's something I will replace is not as bad as yours yet but still is way too hard and stiff that it is a good idea to replace it.
