Stu, just discovered your channel. About time an Oz smart guy is talking about HA on youtube. I get a lot of good advice from the HA - Australian certified forum but sometimes visual learning is better. Happy to buy you a coffee

Welcome aboard! Thanks for watching. I got started because of a lack of Australian HA content creators.

Thanks, was hoping for an offset helper to calibrate a temp sensor.

You could probably use a Template Sensor to acheive this. There's a new method to do these and a video about it in early stages of planning

Wow first, on holiday in Poland. Painful I cannot access HA as UPS failed. So grrrr that the point of failure is the UPS. Which did not coming back up after Power outage in Bayswater Melbourne.
Had setup a range of random lights etc. So hopefully they are working.

Fingers crossed it's all working as you set it up.
Hopefully it's just internet connectivity is down.

thanks for sharing, Im keen to tackle a internet timer to toggle on/off network access as well as add 30mins 60mins extra time, I have a unifi UDM which is support by HA, Im wanting to control network access for my kids, Im stuck as to how to approach the task

in the most recent versions of Home Assistant, using the Unifi Networks integration, different Networks show up as an entity and can be disabled.
So, one way you could approach this is setup a seperate SSID that only the kids devices connect to (or any other devices you want to be affected by the timer)
From there, it's just a case of using an automation to turn on/off the SSID for those devices.
It's possible there's other options but that's the first one that came to mind.

    Hi Stu,
This might seem a silly question, but how did you bring up the helpers demo screen that you show on the right hand side, seems very useful.
I've added the "demo:" line to my configuration.yaml, but this was no help.
    What's the secret?

I created a Custom Dashboard specifically for the video :P

It's a seperate Screen Recording that I took during the edit to Demo how the Entities appear on a dashboard.

How do you DELETE a helper?

Settings -> Devices and Services -> Helpers -> 3-Dot-Stack on right end of List view -> Show Settings -> Delete in the bottom left corner of the Settings Card
