    Great vid. My knowledge of boarder routers in HA is not great. I recently switched from ZHA to zigbee2mqtt on my HA yellow. Only way I could make this work is by uninstalling the multi- protocol firmware so i lose thread / matter support (this is not documented anywhere!). I don’t know is newer HA updates have changed this. But I would like to have Matter and z2mqtt working together on my HA yellow!

    I got mine on a sale last year, which is about 12 months after you did this video. I paid AU$999 new, I think I was very lucky. Sadly though, to take advantage of the 120Hz refresh rate, I will have to update my MBP M1 Max. Other than that, I am finding this size to be the new standard for productivity.

      As far as I can tell, the 120Hz is only available through DisplayPort Connections. I'm still really happy with this monitor and 100% agree with you about Productivity. I don't even think having 2x 27" 16:9 Monitors would be as good

    HI. So I set up one of my plugs to turn off when I leave, and turn on when I come back, and it's working fine. What I can't make work, is to do the same for the other phone in my household, to turn off the second plug. In other words, when I leave it shuts down my room, when the other person leaves it turns off the other room. It just doesn't work for the second phone.

    • @HiveMindAutomation

      Without knowing anything about your setup, I'm not able to offer much advice here. If you're just using the Tuya Smart App itself, I'm afraid I'm not going to be able to suggest anything. If you're integrating into Home Assistant, it suggests that the Person entity presence detection isn't working properly

    Thanks for this. I run a 60 device strong ZHA (only) network via a Sonoff Zigbee 3.0 USB Dongle Plus. It's been a flawless radio with great range, long antenna and extended using a USB cable away from the rack. Some of my more important devices don;t do MQTT so I need to stay with ZHA> I am still uncertain how to add thread/matter. Is it best to migrate to a combined stick like the NabuC one you have used here? I still don't even know whether migration upgrades are needed (into the future)...simply due to a Sonoff stick like the one I have becoming end-of lifed or unsupported with ongoing firmware etc ? So do I wait for the release of a new combined Sonoff ZHA/Thread stick? (If so, which one)? Or do I leave what I've got and simply just add a second matter stick? There is never any manual on this zigbee stuff.. just trial and error. Nobody lays out any "best practice". You learn what works trial and error as you go. I'd appreciate your comments on which is the best path to take to upgrade to the ability to add thread devices in the future. Thanks

    • @HiveMindAutomation
      @HiveMindAutomation 11 днів тому

      I think if you’ve got the USB Porta available just get a separate Thread USB stick. There should be a listing of compatible thread radios on the Home assistant site

    Thank you for the help and step by step tutorial, i finally can do a proper use for my old raspberry pi 3, a tip if you are having troubles with video streams / codecs from different vendors, try to use always h264 instead of h265, also video source resolution should be minor that the monitor total resolution, so in that case you can use 2nd stream source from cameras if you have a high resolution survelliance video camera

      @@HiveMindAutomation Excellent workaround - my undoing is my current networking prowess - currently everything is under construction so I have to keep removing tape on and off the device to confirm if its a hardware issue or a software issue with my ACL/VLAN rules - again, everyone else who's not an idiot like me will easily overcome this with tape! i am thinking of buying them . but i have a question ... do they work with 2.4 ghz wifi too? i only want to connect them to my iphone

    • @HiveMindAutomation
      @HiveMindAutomation 20 днів тому

      They are Matter over Thread, so they won't run on 2.4GHz Wifi. You need a Thread Border Router that would connect to your 2.4GHz WiFi, and act as a bridge. That said, I believe the iPhone 15 has a Thread radio built in, but I'm not sure if it'll interface directly. If you're looking for smart lightbulbs that explicitly work on 2.4 GHz Wifi, I HIGHLY recommend the LIFX branded lights, but they're a bit pricier, but haven't yet adopted the Matter standard. For a less pricey option, Wiz operate on 2.4GHz and there's now Matter over Wi-Fi bulbs available.

    Why not just install landscape lighting? Because the low voltage transformers (they are powered through) have dusk/dawn photocell sensor and timer functions to make their operation effortless. Plus you get the added benefit of adding to your homes curb appeal and your cameras won’t have to readjust all their optical sensors and value settings to try and capture a clear and balanced image each time there is a motion sensor event. Also...... people are less likely to mess with properties that have landscape lighting that might put them at risk of being spotted in the act, or identified afterwards.

    All that command line for just a copy and paste of a folder? Why?

    • @HiveMindAutomation
      @HiveMindAutomation 27 днів тому

      Why not? I work in IT in my Day Job and can do plenty of stuff quicker in CLI than I can using a mouse. And - in my opinion - using the Command Line keeps me "sharp" But Mostly because the copy/paste of the folder is happening on a remote server, not my local computer. Doing a copy/paste of a folder on a remote server over SMB is extremely inefficient.because it copies the folder down to the computer you're working from, then copies it back up to the remote server. Over Wi-fi that would've taken ages to essentially transfer 24GB

    Great tutorial. Which version of raspbian should I download for raspberry pi 3?

      For the DisplayCameras project you NEED Raspbian Buster. Anything newer won't work because of issues with the streaming.

    i had this working since years. Few months ago i found it not working anymore. Everything is as your guide, besides the ir remote name in HA is remote.ir_salotto (i dont have the _remote in the name, because the integration didn't add it) in the smartir definition i tried both remote.ir_salotto and remote.ir_salotto_remote but when calling the send command from developer tools, it always give me unknown error, and in the log i see, in order: - Referenced entities remote.ir_salotto_remote are missing or not currently available - Failed to call remote.send_command: Command not found: 'on' - websocket_api script: Error executing script. Unexpected error for call_service at pos 1: Command not found: 'on'

    • @HiveMindAutomation
      @HiveMindAutomation 20 днів тому

      so Command not found 'on' pretty much just means there's no such command as "on" in the remote definition. when you're using remote.send_command you need to send the base64 encoded command. i.e. for a Fujitsu Aircon like in my video, to turn on the heater to 22ºC with the fan set to "High", I'd need to send: "JgAEAWQyDAwMDAwlDAwMJQwMDAwMDAwlDCUMDAwMDAwMJQwlDAwMDAwMDAwMDAwMDAwMDAwMDAwMDAwMDAwMJQwMDAwMDAwMDAwMDAwMDCUMDAwMDAwMDAwlDCUMJQwlDCUMJQwlDCUMDAwMDCUMDAwMDAwMDAwMDAwMDAwMDCUMJQwMDAwMJQwMDAwMDAwMDAwMDAwlDAwMDAwlDAwMDAwMDAwMDAwlDAwMDAwMDCUMDAwMDAwMDAwMDAwMDAwMDAwMDAwMDAwMDAwMDAwMDAwMDAwMDAwMDAwMDAwMDAwMDAwMDAwMDAwMDAwMDAwMDCUMDAwMDAwMJQwMDCUMJQwMDAwMDAwADGgNBQ" If you've setup SmartIR, it exposes your target device as a climate or fan or media_player entity depending on the device you setup with it. So then to turn on the AirCon, you call the service with - in my case: service: climate.turn_on target: entity_id: climate.bedroom_ac data: {}

    Hey, do these Arlec puck lights come with the option of screw mounting or only tape? I can't find the manual online and Arlec wouldn't answer my question. Hoping to mount them in my bar in my shed and loath anything mounted with tape, never seems to last IMO.

    • @HiveMindAutomation
      @HiveMindAutomation Місяць тому

      it's only tape. I've been trying to set aside time to work on my own project that includes screw mounts in a 3D Printed enclosure, but time is elusive.

    Lots of people don't wear a watch nowadays (e.g., none in my extended family), the keys are left by the door, and the phone is wherever whenever, and in my home we have 2 phones between the 4 of us, since kids don't have their own phones, but they occasionally use our phones for games or videos or music. Anything tracking BT is just not going to work. I'm shocked if it would work for the majority of households. That said, when we're looking for some phone it'd be useful to know in which room it is, but there are other, simpler solutions to that.

    Any preference for the standard Meross smart plugs or the Meross Homekit ones? Some reviews said IOS updates stop the Homekit ones from working. Would also have to install Homekit Device integration for the Homekit ones.

      Meross LAN should work regardless of them being Homekit or standalone. I've not tried the smart plugs through Meross LAN yet though.

    Great video mate, very in-depth. That said, I can’t get this working. I have spent hours troubleshooting this but not really getting anywhere. I feel that I am missing something. Do you have any sample configs that you could share? Also, when you restart HA in your video after editing your configuration, your sensors just magically show which rooms your devices are in… where did you mention the part about making that part work? Is there an integration that is required? Cheers.

      Click enroll name your Device you want to add and click enroll then open Bluetooth on device and click on espresence to connect when it has disconnected then the device has been added and you can see it in the fingerprints and then you can copy then you can use the name under fingerprints to and to home assistant
