    I was very disappointed with this video. It was advertised as integrating the fp2 on HA. I watched right the way to the end and only then did you admit failing to do it. I was interested as my son tried and failed as well.

    Great video. I just installed mine and everything works. Although in Apple Home Kit it’s saying that it’s obstructed but it still works.? I have an old garage opener that doesn’t not have any sensors . Is there a fix?

    • @HiveMindAutomation

      Mine said obstructed initially too, but that went away after a while. I don't recall if there's a setting that you can modify for this.

    • @HiveMindAutomation

      This particular monitor does not have an integrated WebCam. To be honest, I don't think the integrated Webcams are ever that good anyway, so you might be better off with a standalone one anyway.

    How to hack Genio bulb the hard way.

    • @HiveMindAutomation
      @HiveMindAutomation 3 дні тому

      this was several years ago, so yes, it was the hard way. it's probably much easier now. That said, the Tuya software has changed a lot since then and the newer versions of these bulbs no longer run on ESP microcontrollers, and may not be able to run Tasmota.

      Interesting. I just got a second one of these recently and will be installing in my home office over the Christmas break. If you're having trouble setting the limits it might be worth resetting the whole unit and starting the process from scratch.

    Hi, I have qubo smart cam 360 and I want to live stream the video on monitor /computer but the issue is I don't have the RSTP URL I asked the Qubo helpline to share the URL but they refused , Could you please let me know how to get RSTP URL?

    • @HiveMindAutomation
      @HiveMindAutomation 3 дні тому

      I don't know anything about the Qubo Smart Cam, or even if it supports RTSP, but you might need to look at doing network scans of the device using something like nmap or other "hacker" tools. That said it's only going to get you part of the way. Your best bet is always manufacturer documentation, followed by open-source community forums/blogs/knowledge bases.

    Great video if all goes well. I can't get past first base. I have 7 life bulbs on my network that I can control with the Lifx app. I have got as far as adding the Lifx integration and only 1 light appears. I keep getting failed setup error on a second light. When I try to add and entry and leave the host field blank - I get " no devices found on the network". If I add an IP address for a light :failed to connect"....I thought this was going to be easy !!! Please help. TIA.

    • @HiveMindAutomation
      @HiveMindAutomation 3 дні тому

      I'd suggest checking if all your bulbs are on the same network as your Home Assistant installation, as well as the Lifx app. It can also be helpful to restart the bulbs that aren't connecting if you're having trouble.

    • @HiveMindAutomation
      @HiveMindAutomation 3 дні тому

      I'll be looking into this in the not too distant future as I have a lot more use cases for ESPHome and would prefer to give my ESP-32's double/triple duty and not have my MQTT traffic be so chatty.

      I know there's been a lot of changes to the Cloud Developer Toolkit lately, I'll need to take another run at local-tuya. To be honest though, I've given up on Tuya devices as - in spite of being part of the CSA developing Matter, I'm yet to see any Matter enabled devices from Tuya or their partners.

  • @FFAquad

    Love the video! Super detailed and easy to follow. That said, I do have a question regarding the "Host" name when making a new connection. When I go into HA>integrations>MQTT>configure, I don't see the IP address, but rather the host name "core-mosquito". How can I find the IP address?

    • @HiveMindAutomation
      @HiveMindAutomation 3 дні тому

      You can normally use the same IP as your Home Assistant Instance if you're using the Home Assistant Add-on. The mosquitto port should automatically be forwarding to the mosquitto container.

    Please can you use your mobile phone as home assistant server

    • @HiveMindAutomation
      @HiveMindAutomation 3 дні тому

      As far as I know, No. You explicitly need a standalone server. There might be a way to do it but - in my opinion - it's not a good idea as a mobile phone is not designed to stay in the home 100% of the time, therefore would frequently disconnect from the smart home. There ARE ways to install Linux onto Android phones and you could potentially install Home Assistant on top of that install of linux, but the Phone would then need to stay in the home to be of any benefit to you.

    It doesn't work with touching buttons 👎👎👎

    • @HiveMindAutomation
      @HiveMindAutomation 3 дні тому

      depends on the button. If they're "Capacitive" buttons then it's extremely unlikely to work. You might be able to trick a capacitive button to trigger by wrapping the tip of the switch in some aluminium foil or something else, but it's not really what these are designed for.

    Can this dimmer be used with all LED lights? If not, how can I tell whether a light will work with it (and be dimmable)?

    • @HiveMindAutomation
      @HiveMindAutomation 3 дні тому

      The LED Fixture itself needs to support dimming. If it works on a regular old - hard wired by an electrician - dimmer switch, it'll work with the Shelly. Safe bet is to look for "Dimmable" on the packaging for the Light fixture and steer away from smart fixtures as the Dimming feature will be built into the controller of the fixture, not through modifying the input power.

      If you want a plain, non-coloured curtain, these lights should be fine. there's enough animation for them to be a bit better than static colours. Honestly I'm a bit spoiled having tried the Govee and Twinkly curtain lights prior to this.

      Not really sure what you mean here. I've had no issues with the data accuracy in Home Assistant from my Inverter. Are you able to clarify?

    Hii! I loved your video, I just bought the Govee Curtain Lights 2 myself and noticed that if the plug is on the right side, the lights face the wall apparently which dim the brightness, while as if the plug is on the left side, the LED’s face your way which make the lights brighter 😅 it’s just something to consider if you’d like the colours to be more vibrant. Great video ❤

      Glad you like the video and the curtain lights. I found with them in the front window, the spill onto the white curtain backing was enough to make them look pretty great at night anyway, regardless of the orientation.

    I realize this was a few months ago, but I'm interested in knowing if once this is set up, and using local mqtt (HAAS), if we can disconnect the cloud and have it work locally. Did you put together a video for lan only (no cloud requirements)? is it as simple as install the HACS, connecting the device, then disconnecting the cloud app? Thx, Howie.

      @HiveMindAutomation 3 дні тому

      I've not yet played around with the Local MQTT only functions on these. Theoretically, with the MQTT integration there should be no need for the cloud connection, but I'll definitely be getting into that in the new year.

      @@HiveMindAutomation Thx for the quick reply, I think it should be easy enough for local - i have many MQTT devices which I have set up locally, and haas works really well. Let me know if you try it, i'll also be experimenting with this over the holiday weekend. Cheers, Howie.

    Can I use this app from a location far away from my house?

    • @HiveMindAutomation

      Provided your devices are connected to a Wi-fi network with Internet connectivity, and your phone has mobile data coverage, there should be no reason you can't connect when you're away from home.

    Great video! I would love to see a follow-up where you connect any of the sensors you mentioned to the ESP32 and what those entities look like in Home Assistant.

      I honestly couldn't say whether it would work. Some manufacturers use Bluetooth but their communication is proprietary preventing interaction through any 3rd party hardware or software

    I love this! I created an automation to get notification when printer is ready (When PrusaMINI Progress changes to 100%) but it is never triggered... I also tried 100 without % but the same thing. What am I missing?

    • @HiveMindAutomation
      @HiveMindAutomation Місяць тому

      So I look for the Entity State to change to "Finished" instead of looking for Progress % to change. What you might find is that your print percentage NEVER changes to 100% because it immediately moves into a Finished state. You could maybe set the automation to trigger when it changes FROM 99%

    Why did you choose this and not the Yumshare? How’s it working so far? If you share your link for UK, I’ll use it to buy but I am torn between this and yumshare.

    • @HiveMindAutomation
      @HiveMindAutomation Місяць тому

      From what I can tell, the Yumshare doesn't weigh the food in the feeding bowl. The other thing was for the better ergonomics of the higher bowl and not having the cat have to crane her neck to eat. Yes.... she's spoiled.

    I wonder if you follow comments on your old videos? I think you maybe Australian which would be a good start. I have a number of Deta double outdoor power points that are recognised by Tuya. However, although this issue was raised (#480) in Tuya Local 18 months ago, it seems not to work now, so I tried Local Tuya without success! This sees to be a regular refrain when it comes to Austrailian product. I wonder if you have some advice or, better still, a solution, please? TIA

    • @HiveMindAutomation
      @HiveMindAutomation 3 дні тому

      I'm honestly a LOT behind on my comments. Yes, I'm in Melbourne Australia. There's been a lot of changes to the Tuya Developer Portal which may or may not be causing some of your pain points here. It really depends on the issue you're facing with the outdoor unit. I've noticed more recently, it's harder to get the local-keys out of devices, if you can get them at all, so I wonder if that's what you mean here? I've gotten to the point where I'm now starting to avoid any and all Tuya products unless and until they stop removing features and functionality. Hard to offer a solution or even advice without knowing exactly what's going on, or an error message or something.

    great video ! I watched many how to set up the energy dashbaord. this was the most straight to point I could follow and set up as I watch. can you show us how to configure solar forecasting?

      I'll be doing a follow up on this pretty soon as there's been some updates to the Energy Dashboard and I want to cover them off, I'll figure out the solar forecasting too. I know I HAVE had it working before, so I'm sure I can do it again.
