Thank you for sharing, and showing to other people, that this is NOT way to go, so much mess, poisonous metal solution and acid vapour... some metal scraper (chisel) and hammer does better job, selecting only gold containing stuff. Or hear gun... THEN put into hydrochloric to get rid od solder... Now I see some later your videos doing just that with air hammer... 🙂 Good... I prefer being selective, but whatever you like...
I think this is the way to go at industrial scale obviously having the mandatory caution, and recover the metals by chemistry means of all the dissolved metals like copper , tin, lead or whatever is present including silver and gold. Very pure metals can come up as result of the electrolysis
This is an interesting idea, but the mixture of metals and materials is going to make the whole thing a right mess. Levering parts off boards that are wet with a metal-laden acid solution while still partially in the solution is not a good idea. The process probably needs to be broken down into more steps, particularly to remove aluminium parts that are going to chew through the HCl first and fastest.
Cast-iron frying pan with a 1/4 inch of molten solder in the bottom for through-hole. Air chisel on low with a wide blade for surface mount. Faster, no chemicals. Still need a fume hood, though, what with fumes from hot plastic and metal.
Well shiiiiiiiite. I just did this. Let it sit for a a bit then went to watch a few of my nephews soccer games. I’m there now and won’t be home for several hours. I take it I should just take them out and rinse them off when I get home? I’m just learning too. Literally the first time playing with HCL for this purpose.
If I were you I wouldn't do this, but now that you did, Evaporate off the water and add sodium hydroxide to the metal chlorides. The sodium is more reactive so the metal ions will probably precipitate out.
This is definitely one way to depopulate a board. Not one I would use though. I prefer a hammer and chisel. I take what I want then sell the board to the scrap yard.
This would okay for doin small batches of ram sticks removal of chips and mlccs i assume you could filter the sludge out rreuse the acid for second go instead of discarding it
@alexz7111 Negative Ghost Rider. AR would dissolve the Gold , which this clearly did not. Try again less ya make me regret askkin' fer yer educated opinion ta begin with.... :-) L8R G8R
@@nato7.62mm4 For you, dump redneck is aqua regia. Would not tell you what should the mixture consist. It's just not pure HCI! Btw do you know what is - Kur za nato? :D F gipsy redneck..
This is an instructional video of how NOT to refine e-waste for precious metals. With the advent of the internet you would think research would have been done prior to trying this.. lol this is Just plain stupid.
Are chemicals free on your planet? ^^ Because with this approach you have already wasted up to 20% of the expectable profit on HCl. What is next? Blowing the rest on dissolving all the base metals in nitric? ;)
I like this method. I don't want damage on the parts I want to save and most other methods would damage them. Thanks for sharing your experiment.

Take a vacation to the Yukon , pan for gold , outdoors , fresh air , don't forget the bear spray
A heat gun would be FAR faster and more effective (and a hell of a lot cheaper).
I would suggest removing any aluminum beforehand just a waste of acid

That is a bad way to remove stuff from boards. The aluminium reacts with hcl and puts of hydrogen gas. Just use a chisel
This is a very expensive way to end up with a giant toxic stew of just about every contaminate possible inhibiting your precious metal recovery.
Solder have two metal tin and lead

Going about it the wrong way bro
Less then 5 minutes with my heat gun

My wife would never let me use the good baking dish for that ill have stick to the old way of getti g the gold
The formula is not pure HCI
Okay... then what is it?
Aqua regia

Juste un récipient plus grand c'est mieux😅
Nice video
What about lead

It's just an experiment, I want to get rid of base metals the cheapest possible way and then copper through electrolysis.
What is the concentration of hcl please. and there is plastic dissolve
Short bus procedure.
