Hello, I want to know if the electrolysis will pull off only the gold layer or it can pull off some base metals and then we will get a gold contamination? thank you for the efforts and information . Samir from Algeria .

Hi my friend, wanted to let you know that in my similar set up instead of having to pour the gold/h20s2 mixture in the funnel and risk splashing or spilling some of the gold laden liquid, I made a hole in the bottom of my beaker and put a small magnet with a silicone ring on the outside perimeter of each magnet on either side of my container to form a water tight seal. When the time comes to transfer the liquid to the funnel and water bucket all I do is lower another magnet I have attached on a copper rod down to the magnet inside the gold mixture, it attaches itself to the top sealing magnet and I’m able to slide the magnetic seal to the side and let the gold liquid seamlessly transfer into the water bucket with no chance of losing any gold. Thought you may want to try this method yourself :) just a friendly suggestion to a fellow scrapper!

Why you did not plate a piece of gold with all the gold in the acid, a simple gold plating???

Trouble of retrieving gold from beautifully rich Chalcopyrites of good grades. Large nuggets.

Use a high quality beaker or a stone age pan. I could care less as long as it works.

Does the copper electrode come down to the bottom of a pot or does it stay attached to the thing?
