  • Jeremy Jones presents the reworked Solution Split for season 2020/21. More taper, slightly lighter, a 3D shape that was previously only available on solid boards. Also in this interview, we talk about sustainability, durability, Jones warranty process, and where it's best to buy.

that sustainability question was like asking him, "1-10, describe in detail your childhood, snowboarding style, love life, spiritual beliefs and your ability to fix an internal combustion engine made before 1940."

jones splitboards would be the only brand i would go for. i am already convinced by their quality but the traction tech on both sides of the splitboard is what convinced me... now you are telling me that they figured out how to add the 3D tech??? these guys are on top of the game in the splitboarding (and regular snowboarding) world

Yea they figured out the 3D nose without loosing edgegrip at the ascent. Just awesome

Enjoyed this interview very much - love the blunt questions, yes, quite German I suppose, maybe the language difference also, don't know, but I liked it a lot ! Jeremy Jones is at the very top of the snowboard world in terms of quality and performance. I've ridden a lot of other brands including Salomon, Sims, Rossignol, and Burton, good quality all of them, but I'm 3 years into my Jones board and it still rides like a champ !

Love the interviews. Would love to see a deeper dive on the sustainability issues. I feel like there may be a little ‘green washing’ here and there in the industry. It’s certainly a powerful marketing tool right now. Would be nice to see an objective presentation of the facts from all the big players. Keep this rolling, I am looking forward to the Mervin interview 😉👍

Yes, we try to, since years. We will push it further.

I'm on the fourth year with my Jones Solution and after more than 100000 m of elevation it's still more than usable. Now the skins don't work so well anymore and I'm thinking about buying some new ones to keep using the split on its full potential.
I have the 2017 version that was supposed to be the same as the 2016 but better. Actually the 169w is 500 grams heavier...
Anyway, I won't get the new Solution for one reason: by adding taper without having a wider waist width the width under the back foot will be narrower. As it's already not wide enough for mey size 13 there's no way I'm gonna go narrower.

The skins don't have traction or they don't stick to the board?

    • @danielbadoux4863
      @danielbadoux4863 4 роки тому +1

Not much traction anymore. They stick because they have been reglued.
Quite normal I guess after a few years.

I love my solution... Yes they can do better for the skin but she's so cool in all situation... Has he make the magne traction in the center of the board? I hope for a better price in future because at my level of time riding she can cost 100$ per year if she can do 8 years and you can use the material on the board for equip another one in future very good and light material...

In response to the 'magne traction' for the inside/center seam: yes. It's got several contact points / somewhat like an S shape. This adds increased grip on all surface conditions while touring/moving uphill.

@@nicholashoffman307 thanks for the response with the season finally the cost /quality is very good ... Thé unique thing Little bit difficult it's to sharpen good the magne traction ... On this Split i'll mount Karakoram binding's and o have a déformation between the pin AND the metal base ...

Some people have mentioned boot size is an issue for this board ... so would it be better going for a wide model if someone has us size 10.5s ?

    • @ataft85

According to Jones, I believe that's right on the edge of needing a "big horn" width board.

    5 years ?! bs

The question is loaded. I mean I had my Arbor Abacus for many years, and in the final season I hit A LOT of rocks... so did it last 5 years? Almost, but could have been much shorter if I hit those rocks earlier on.
