Dude you’re an animal . lol That bike was built for highway use . You turned it into a knurly off road adventure bike . Good for you . I started off with I think was a 1978 GS 650G back in the day . Fun listening to and watching you’re video .
Astonishing. I loved riding this bike in the 1980s as a road bike through the sweeping southern alp passes. To see it as a dressed and ridden as dirt bike is jaw dropping. I cannot fathom the skill involved.
Who knew that a bike that had been sitting for 27 years could live again and take Chancelor through 1,000 miles of rough adventure. Good times for sure - Wes
I had GS750E’s & L’s & a GS1000E in the late 70’s…. These were tough bikes in their day. But, I think this was probably the ultimate challenge! I can’t even imagine attempting this. Congratulations! Chance you were definitely the winner on this ride! Thanks and can’t wait to see the next series!
Pleasantly surprised when you won the no dab section considering the amount of suspension it got. It was like 80% rider. 20% bike. Would love to see a first person POV on that!
I’d love to see a tool list you guys brought with you. Going on a 1500 mile ride on my kinda okay xr650l. I’m basically bringing my whole workshop with me lol.
Definitely take a look at this video. It's a good kit that has most everything we carry on most every ADV ride. ua-cam.com/video/_2uxKyoUbDE/v-deo.html
@@chancelorerwin5211 Just took a look. Seems like I have most of the stuff covered, but I’ll definitely be taking that aluminum based epoxy with me. Didn’t even know that existed!
I couldnt imagine riding through some of those sections on a bije like this.. and then this guy rode through their entire dab test section without putting a foot down once. Incredible.
Chance, Where did you get the stuff to rebuild the Carbs ? I have a 1982 Yamaha XJ 550 Maxim, and the Carb Diaphrams are one piece with the sliders and IF you can find them, they are like $200 or more EACH, Times Four... Did you get just the seals and or gaskets ?
Luckily my carbs were complete and the diaphragms were in good shape, I just did gaskets and seals. I've had decent luck with Sudco having items like those, just a little pricey.
I loved the series and loved this bike so much. Your crew is certainly a talented bunch. From the mechanical side to the riding portion. Thanks again for a top-notch series and for motivating me and others to get out there with whatever moto or gear that you have. What is that jacket you are wearing?
@@chancelorerwin5211 I've been looking at htat combo, and it looks pretty great for the price. Thanks for getting back. Looking forward to the next video.
Could you guys do a build episode on a bike that gets no attention the Suzuki Dr 200 it’s a fun little dual sport but there’s very little aftermarket mods for this bike. I would like to see what you guys could do to give it better performance :)
The tires worked great for this bike! They gave great traction and never washed out with how hard I pushed the bike off-road. After the ride the tread looks OK, and I wouldn't hesitate taking them on the same type of conditions for at least another 2,000 miles. So for a "knobby" tire in harsh conditions I'd expect 3-5K miles.
We have a local classifieds that is pretty good, but bike prices are outrageous like everywhere else. You've got to be creative and/or brave and just ask around to everyone. Those barn finds are out there!!
Chance, You don't happen to still have that vetter front fairing from the GS650E hanging around, do ya? I rock one on my '84 Sabre, and am planning on fixing one when I get my '71 CL450 "Fire road wanderer" project. The one for the 450 is in rough shape, haha. I'm intrigued by the extra deflectors clipped on to the fairing, and if you've at least got more pictures that might help me figure out how to make a pair for mine, I'd appreciate it.
I know you said some cheap stuff suspension, but I've got a 82 gs450 and looking for the same for the rear on mine, do you remember what suspension you got for it?
Chancelor's riding really surprised me in the whole trip. The dude has done some serious leveling up.
Thanks André!! Got to show those "skinny" people how it's done!

This entire series was awesome, looks like everyone had a great time. You're video/production team did an amazing job. Thanks everyone!!
I really enjoyed seeing the street bikes out there, going everywhere! Nice job giving the old Suzuki a new lease on life.

That’s a real adv bike. You nailed it.
Adventure can be found almost anywhere 👍🏼... Even on a 1982 Suzuki GS650 - Wes

I had the same bike many moons ago. It was a great ride.
Sweeet.... Loved that last series. Keep putting them out and I'll keep watching.
This was my favorite bike of the series.
Thanks Tony! Glad you liked it
Fantastic..beautiful bike.. old good solid bike era days..but the budget will go more ..yes,rider preference matter..
So awesome- these old bike have some life left.

That’s was exactly my first bike. Same year, model & even color! Of course that was in the mid eighties…lol
Hilarious!!! Can't believe you went with that bike! I LOVE it!!!
Thanks for posting this; my kind of fun.
Boring bikes are for boring riders. I had a better time on this old street bike than a modern off-road bike. Thanks for watching!!
This is my favorite bike in 1000$ 1000miles challenge 👍👍👍
Mine too!! Thanks Indra
This dude can seriously ride. I liked this bike and the Ninja the most. They seemed so out of place, but still made the trip.
I couldnt imagine riding through some of those sections on a bije like this.. and then this guy rode through their entire dab test section without putting a foot down once. Incredible.

I love that bike, I need one!
Amazing love that might do some of it on my 78 kz650
Ya always seem to get the worst bike for these rides but you always somehow make it work awesome stuff 👍
I've got to make it more fair for the other guys 🤣 Thanks for watching!
Dude, the 650e 1982 is an amazing bike 😅 One of the best air cooled engines of this era.
REALLY interesting review of your build and trip. i just picked up a1982 gs650l with only 8,000 miles. runs great paid 525 with a title
Great bike for an even better deal!
I love these old standard bikes
Looks great and cheap. Real rider will love it and get nice experience. Good luck 🤞 👍💪

I stan Justin and also own a KZ from the 80s! I hope there's a video about his bike coming up!
Sorry to disappoint, but Justin no longer has the KZ. No build video in the works. You'll just have to watch the series over again - Wes
@@rmatvmc VERY SAD to hear this, as I was hoping to pick up some tips for my KZ 750...
I you lot do a challenge like this again, rule number 1 should be the bike needs to have been built as a road bike. Rule number 2, bigger than 700cc
I like this idea!
Dude, great work on the bike. It was crazy seeing you guys running around the rocks and sand on a dang 650 street bike!
I was a little worried at first, but it handled pretty well. Just a ton (or 1/2 ton) of weight 😂
Did it already have a 19" 18" rear a lot 9f standard bikes did from this time 80's cx500 cb250/400T did
Yes, the stock wheels were the cast aluminum 19" front and 18" rear.
I think this would be considered workplace hazing in most states.

Could you please share what tires (brand, size) were put on the bike? Thanks
They make these plastic star wars type boots for riding offroad with heavy footpegs.
Chance, How well did those tires work? Especially the front tire, any wash out? Also how did they look after the 1000 miles, tread wear?

I have the same exact bike and you mentioned changing so many parts, where did you get them? I personally struggle to find parts 😅
Riview all rally touring next bike motor
I really want to know how the purple rain stand now
Cracked or broke the frame/subframe yet?

I know you said some cheap stuff suspension, but I've got a 82 gs450 and looking for the same for the rear on mine, do you remember what suspension you got for it?
They were 14.4" HD shocks off of Ebay. They gave me a bit more ground clearance and were very stiff.
@@chancelorerwin5211 awesome thank you so much. I was eyeing some 14.5 in rears and was wondering how they would look. Appreciate the answer!
Did they ever figure out what was wrong with this bike after the top end rebuild? It ran but never seemed to run right.
I had jetted it way too rich, it would bog and never take full throttle. Since then I have rejetted it and it's good! Thanks for watching!
250 bucks? damn, you can't even get a bicycle for that price here
Gotta look for those barn finds!!
So much talking, want to hear and see the nice GS bike in action!

A Suzuki GS six "fitty" E???
