Owned one in Australia and loved it. Very comfortable. Rode it all over the east of Australia. It never missed a beat. Only problem I had was the rocker cover gasket’s wouldn’t last very long. But no issues in replacing them.
Our Bill.....Legend in the UK....Amazing Spondon Specials.....and Amazing riding skills at the Drag Strip....and Ramsey Isle of Man TT....Great to see you so well....Well Done Bill lad.
Great review of of a classic. The fact that it is a survivor( un-restored) bike in exceptional condition just adds to the WOW factor. Keep up the superb content. Cheers from the U.S.
We didn't get the GS1100E, in the states, until 1980. I bought a 1980 GS1100ET, in '82. These bikes were faster than anything else out there. And, the GS1100E dominated drag strips for over 30 years. The GS1100E is still very prominent at dragstrips.
Got the baby brother 750 when I was 17. Got into and out of alot of trouble with it too. Still have it in the back shed and fire it up once in awhile. Love the sound of the Kerker exhaust
I worked at a Suzuki dealership late 70s and when the GS 1000 came out it creamed every KZ with the exception of the TC turbo Zir but it handled far better than any Kz or Xs Yamaha. When the GSXR came out in 86 the oil cooling was far advanced from the GS mill,I have ridden a 89 750 Katana that is the 2nd gen motor hard in the desert here in Eastern Washington in town and highway never overheated....
I loved these bikes...almost bought one back in the day, but opted for a big zed instead...the daddy of them all, the Z1300.....I made the right choice in my opinion.
Yeah the engine was great, but some reviews called it "a cheap way to speed and an early grave". This was a problem with many 70s superbikes, the engine was way ahead of the handling.
40 years ago I did also mine was the GSX750L from Wisdom Suzuki Manhattan Kansas And as an 18 year oid soldier rode it from ft Riley KS To Monterey California.
Oooh the 1150 nice drag bike for racing. I also have the 1979 gs1000s race replica. Have many gs motorcycles in my garage.love them. Beat up quite a few kz 1000 and 1100s.
My 1981 was AU$4,250 on the road. Great bike in its day you can idle around the city all day or do 220 kmh on the open road motor was always smooth and willing, fast and handled reasonably well. I still have it ,original paint (florida blue ), motor never been apart 60'000 genuine km. Only replaced clutch plates at 30000km and put a 4 into one on it . Would love to get hold of a original exhaust system rare as hens teeth these days
The Gs1100e , that is what it was called in North America , first came out in 1980 . It was the big news story at the time. The bike that dethroned the CBX , as fastest production bike .
If you want to drag race one of these, just do the top end, the bottom end is bullet proof. Same as the old GPZ1100. Which I have. 83’ model with smootbores. Fuggin sweet maaaate.
I have the 1980 gs 1000et larger head and valves with the cv carburators. We didn't see the 1100 16 valve till 1981 and 1982 with the coffee gas tank. We had the Gs1100 in 1980 to1982 shaft drive you are sure it's not a 80 or 79 frame with a 81 gs1100 set up on it. Can mix match parts and everything from frame to frame.
you didnt mention.. the 120hp wire wheeled hotrod 6hr specials developed for homoligation exclusively by Rod Colman here in NZ.. for NZ, Aus & S Africa
Just in the process of rebuilding the front calipers on my 81 GSX 750 ET as they really don't stop all that well. As far as comfort goes the GSX 750 is ok but my 84 GSX 1100 EF is twice as comfortable
Just bought an unrestored 81 here in Sweden. Had an 81 back in NZ when it was new and never got over it. Even got the exact colour of my old one (black and blue) I guess I’m not unique after watching this video but feel vindicated.
Fun fact, with someone on the back you could pop the front wheel into the air, by giving it full power, they might not be so much your friend afterwards...
I was talking to a friend about this bike a few minutes ago and thought. Is there anything on UA-cam? Well not quite . Mine was silver and green. I think there were only 3 standard colours. I bought it after my 650 Kawasaki and frightened myself to death. Just a bump in the road would shift your wrist a millimetre and off it would shoot. YAE3V was purchased in Bristol and stolen from outside Stanier house in Birmingham. Very sad day. Contemporaneous road tests were asking "are they building bikes that are stupidly fast?" Probably but they were comfortable and you did feel the business in a nice pair of leathers and a Schott Police Jacket. I sometimes wore my LAPD breeches. Once a queen as they say.
Best bike ever. Only fuel, tyres and the occasional chain. I owned three... though the new bikes are not the same. It's like they are made for very small riders. Maybe I grew up (although I try not to). Time can be such a shamefull thing eh. If Suzuki reproduce this same bike again, I'm sure it will be as popular as it was.
TSCC, invented by Vincent Piatti whose other claim to two wheel fame, was 'The MiniMotor, which was made to be attached over the back wheel of a bicycle and driven by a roller on the back tyre.
I'm very sorry to say that I bought an immaculate one 25 years ago and smashed it to pieces in a rider fatigue related crash . I walked away with a bruised back but the bike looked like it had been in a crusher .
I knew it wasn't my imagination, I knew seats back-in-the-day were more comfortable than the pieces of fabric on a blank we get today.
Great to see drag racing and pub legend Bill Hunter on the show. Keep the retro stuff coming. Love it
Owned one in Australia and loved it. Very comfortable. Rode it all over the east of Australia. It never missed a beat. Only problem I had was the rocker cover gasket’s wouldn’t last very long. But no issues in replacing them.
Those Suzuki’s are absolutely Bullet Proof. I too had a GS-1100E (Red) and the Blue & White GS-1150E pure Monsters 👍
I have a 1983 GS 1100 e I recently purchased it's going to take a little while but it still original 37,000 miles needs carbs
Our Bill.....Legend in the UK....Amazing Spondon Specials.....and Amazing riding skills at the Drag Strip....and Ramsey Isle of Man TT....Great to see you so well....Well Done Bill lad.

I had the 850 shaft. Toured on it.silky smooth gearbox, powerful and reliable.
I had a GSX1100 and later a GXS1150 with flat slide carbs, it was a beast...
'82 EZ with Keihin CR flat sides was my first street bike in '93. Big ol' motor and wheels. Would love another one today.
I used to watch this show as a kid. And have just started restoring this exact model. Wish me luck.

Mine was Blue 750
I was 18.
My brother and I owned these...very very nice bikes ❤❤❤
I had a 1980 750 version I loved the thing.
These weren’t available in the USA until the 1980 model year. I bought several brand new to roadrace and street ride. Loved that engine!
NICE I was watching your last review on the Guzzi and saw that in the background. Glad you are doing a review.
I loved these bikes...almost bought one back in the day, but opted for a big zed instead...the daddy of them all, the Z1300.....I made the right choice in my opinion.
I had one in the late 90's. Those brakes were exactly as described. Squeeze them fully and pray to stop in time. It was a fun bike.
You covered everything about this GSX11000 it also won the New Zealand 6 hour production race beating the CB1100R
Best thing about older bikes a seat with plenty of comfort unlike modern bikes
ive got the GSX1100E full floater with the 1135cc engine in red/black had this since new 1987. still running great fun from an old girl
Remember when bikes had lovely comfy seats as standard? Tegridy farm remembers.
Sweet ride. Love the old school bikes !
Had one of these back in the day it was a great bike loved it
Yeah the engine was great, but some reviews called it "a cheap way to speed and an early grave". This was a problem with many 70s superbikes, the engine was way ahead of the handling.
What's happened to Harry...
My first thought, where is Harry
I was wondering the same....I hope he's not gone!
TheMissendenFlyer he not gone he’s around somewhere....

The GS1100E with the TSCC head wasn’t offered in the US until 1980. I just bought an 81 GS1100E.
I remember one of my friends Dad had a silver one of those in his garage back in the 80’s. He never rode it either. I wonder if it’s still there?
Decent seat for passenger or luggage and a grab handle . These bikes we're usually used for transport and for pleasure . Mileage was a lot higher.
Had a new silver and green one, fantastic bike, huge 130 rear tyre.
Yours has the smaller petrol tank.
40 years ago I did also mine was the GSX750L from
Wisdom Suzuki

And as an 18 year oid soldier rode it from ft Riley KS

Incredible motorcycle ♥️

first bike was a gs850 now on a gsxs1000 the gs series has a hold on me and i dont know why. Great video guys!
I had this bike - exactly this bike - from 1982 to 1984.

More like this....please. Thank you. 👍
I love classics bikes and classic cars.. 💐
That was not offered in the US. We got the rectangular headlight GS1100E in 1980, not 1979. And it was never called the GSX, just the GS.
you didnt mention.. the 120hp wire wheeled hotrod 6hr specials developed for homoligation exclusively by Rod Colman here in NZ.. for NZ, Aus & S Africa
I've had six or so big suzukis...great bikes
Legenda od Motora ❤❤❤
Remember it Well Bill !
Great review more please
Luvved this....more classic bikes please.
Where's Harry?
I rode one of those when I was 16. It scared the shot out of me. That was 30 years ago. I thought I was cool because I could handle a Harley.
Just in the process of rebuilding the front calipers on my 81 GSX 750 ET as they really don't stop all that well. As far as comfort goes the GSX 750 is ok but my 84 GSX 1100 EF is twice as comfortable
I had a 750et,i loved it,the brakes as you say were a weak point,I had koni rear shocks on mine, made a huge difference to the handling
I still have a set of Dave Petersens Shell Suzuki original leathers.
Ah those were the days proper bikes not like today's plastic rockets
I love that mannul, why dont they make them like that anymore (at least you would read it).
I would love to buy one that is stock standard. I live in Cape Town South Africa.
Yep, had one but still have a 1200 bandit and a few others stuffed away
Just bought an unrestored 81 here in Sweden. Had an 81 back in NZ when it was new and never got over it. Even got the exact colour of my old one (black and blue) I guess I’m not unique after watching this video but feel vindicated.
Now I don't feel so bad about buying an 82 GS1100GK! 😀
Fun fact, with someone on the back you could pop the front wheel into the air, by giving it full power, they might not be so much your friend afterwards...

Where's Harry
Sir that's a old school bike over here in the United States 1980 to 1981 my advice to you sir is to weld the crank. And get a welded clutch basket
Very nice bike to have👍
TSCC, invented by Vincent Piatti whose other claim to two wheel fame, was 'The MiniMotor, which was made to be attached over the back wheel of a bicycle and driven by a roller on the back tyre.
TWIN SWIRL COMBUSTION CHAMBER was made by suzuki you bloke😊
I think that's a GS1100 Iin the USA not a GSX OVER HERE.
The metallic blue was best colour, the red looked flat
I want one someday..
Hillarous. Everything modern bikes are missing. These things make me grin from edge to edge.
Where is the spiky hair dude?
rare bike
Push that bike round corners see what happens love it al the same
He looks better with the helmet on....
wow...
Easy to stop cheating in proddie racing, dyno check each bike.
Where’s Frank Zappa .. er I mean Harry?
I'm very sorry to say that I bought an immaculate one 25 years ago and smashed it to pieces in a rider fatigue related crash . I walked away with a bruised back but the bike looked like it had been in a crusher .
好囹丑啊像个民工125
Where's Harry???
