Our fears are dark clouds gathering above the ground and your words sound like thunder that roars the rain that will pour down and collide with ourselves forming the new landscape that will shine afterward and this is the cycle. Keep rolling the thunder man. We are listening while painting.
The castle reference really makes sense. And I think its also good too sometimes do not finish a model but focus on practicing instead. Easier said than done, because once it works you actually want to make it the best model ever painted. And now you have expectations and the cycle starts again.
Great video Sam, allways enjoy your work. You give a lot to other people, thank you for that. You are great human being. The world is full of good people, but we need more of them, more of you and others like who sharing and caring. Not only in the hobby. Great mate, thank you.
I am slowly getting there...swallowing my pride and anxiety and finally very infrequently putting paint to brush to miniature. This video and the prior "motivational speaker" video really have done worlds as corny as it sounds. Keep being awesome. You're such an inspiration in your outlook on life and viewpoint, not to mention your painting. The world is definitely a better place, especially this hobby world, with you in it.
this needs to be broadcast in time square... projected from loud speakers on every mountain... the hold music of every line. this is good stuff. thanks sam!
Having watched Sam for a while now, it's increasingly joyful to see an accomplished artist pass positivity back into the fledgling hobby fans. Dude clearly comes with a pure heart. I dig Sam's vibe very much. More power to you Sir 💪
Bro 😎 Thank you! As I put my head back down to absorb your message…I realized in Seed, Time, and Harvest. Time is (us) actually acting on our thoughts and inspirations. That deliberate practice.) It’s not waiting. It’s not hesitating. It’s not even imitating…it’s absolute faith in our purpose! 🌱 🎨 🌽
You've got poetry in your mind man. Appreciate this video! I think motivation/mindset is a bit part of this hobby; after all, once you learn a handful of techniques the only thing left is practice. I think the discipline of actually taking 5 seconds and actually asking yourself what you need to improve is helpful as well. Sometimes it's not obvious until we ask ourselves as if we were a friend of ours.
Thank you Sam, wonderful and elegant words. I look up to you, both as a painter and person. Your profound wisdom is beyond your years, I hope you're doing well. Just wanted to stop by and show my support.
Thank you for the pep talk Sam. As a new painter, everything is a mountain to climb. My weakness is making sure I can put the time in during the busy work week to keep pushing myself as a new painter. You're a great inspiration and I'll keep pushing myself and build my own marvelous castle!!!
Remeber to enjoy the hobby my friend, no pressure. Its an escape, sometimes we choose what seems to be an easier option but I find when I get up and grab the brush, I'm happy and zoned in.
My weakest point is that I play it safe. I stay in the lines. When I'm done people say, hey that looks good, but I never tried anything new. I recently used your ghazkgull tutorial to paint that model. I used some of the techniques, but mostly I played it safe. It's extremely daunting trying new things on a model you're 30 hours deep into. I did learn a few things from that tutorial that I'll keep using. Thanks for having in depth videos on an extremely complicated model.
Sam, after watching this, I started punching my stack of shame. It started just a light jab, a lefty a day. I'm here now standing amongst the chaff, I have brought low my pvc demons. I am Ruin, I AM WAR.
Good video, very unique type of video when it comes to miniature painting, I don't hear people speak about mini painting like this, kind of transcendental
Perfect timing... I wasn't motivated to paint today.... now I am! .... just need to figure out which of my weaknesses I take on first 🤔... so many choices
Preach, my dude, PREACH! I take all of your lessons to heart and have seen HUGE improvements from my first minis I painted a year ago to the ones I do now. Yeah, I may not be as technically good or win any awards but thats not why I paint anyways, that's never been what it's about for me. Awards are cool, but this hobby relaxes me and people shouldn't paint solely to win shit anyway, ypu have to be selfish and paint for yourself in this hobby and if awards happen, hey, cool. My hobby pains are mine and mine alone, so when I fail at trying something new out, I'm the only one affected if they look like poop, so I keep trying. I've only been painting minis for a year, I'm still pretty green and new at this, so realistically, nobody is winning squat after only one year of anything, that's just life, man, so when I see dudes giving words of encouragement, I'm all in, I'm here for that 100%. Keep up the great work!
Sam sounds like my Dad when he gets drunk on cheap beer. "Build a castle brick by stone and it's ok all will come in time to those who make nest out of sticks and stones."
I've done 2 bases since your last video since I always struggled with it and I'm starting to enjoy it now actually! Thanks, happy to have become your patreon !
My weakest point is that I left the hobby for so long. I've just recently jumped back in a few months ago and I'm in love. Because of your amazing videos I'm going to be having my 1st attempt at nmn later today and just wanted to say thank you for helping to rekindle my love into painting mini's 🙂
I have finally finished my paint station / hobby room, so I can finally sit down more often to paint. It is finally time to go beast mode and start practicing all those skills you showed here :O I am really inexperienced in all aspects of painting but you always give motivation to paint more bravely and experiment. Last time I was painting an undead dragon and I had a blast! It is high time I finish the bad boy! I'll follow in your footsteps on the undead skin you did with that necromancer kind of figure! It was really inspiring :D I love these other kinds of videos where you give a bit of your mind to the community :)
I need more courage on using colors. Most of my painted minis look monochromatic. I tend to reach for natural colors instead of having fun with the colors. I think it has to do something with my color blindness. Thx Sam for the inspiration on this and other videos!
My weakness is moving on from one project to the next once it's "good enough" but not the best I can do. One of these days I'm going to spend more than a single digit number of hours on a model and really give it my all.
I find it odd that we treat motivation like we need to be in some kind of special mood... to that idea I'm reminded of a quote from 'Dune'. Paul is to spar with with Gurney Halleck and says that he is not in the mood. To which Gurney replies "What has mood to do with it? You fight when the necessity arises - no matter the mood! Mood's a thing for cattle or love making or playing the ballset. It's not for fighting." When we have time for our hobbies then we should take advantage of that time! True we may not be very inspired at the time, but as we get into 'the zone' of a hobby session we tend to find some kind of inspiration.
Our fears are dark clouds gathering above the ground and your words sound like thunder that roars the rain that will pour down and collide with ourselves forming the new landscape that will shine afterward and this is the cycle. Keep rolling the thunder man. We are listening while painting.
Thank you Sam. The world needs more artists like you brother.
My weakest point is that I'm not very good at painting minis. My strongest point is that I really enjoy painting minis.
Haha, quite hydra you have to fight.
my weakness is not actually ever sitting down to paint
90% watching people paint, 10% actually painting myself..
Your friendship brings me joy🧡 Miss you bunches!

Thank you, Sam. You’re an amazing painter and amazing person.
Southern Wisconsin checking in! Digging the positive vibes and words of encouragement

love it your an old soul that brings brightness to the world thanks
Thanks for the positivity! Need to break the procrastination. I appreciate the content !
Sam- thanks once again, you're a beacon of light in a dark world.
Thank you Sam! That's really great!!!
this needs to be broadcast in time square... projected from loud speakers on every mountain... the hold music of every line. this is good stuff. thanks sam!
Very well to work on our weakness is easy said then done , but with your videos all it takes is practice ! Thanks for the advice .
Thanks for taking time to do this video. I will get better with my airbrush! 🙏🏽👊🏽
what a dude, what a man, what a hero
You're the best Sam, thanks for the positivity! I'll go ahead and practice my edge highlighting tomorrow.
You can do it! I have a video, edge highlighting mastery, that can help 🍻
Thank you Sir. I’m new to your channel and you just said what I needed to hear. Thank you! 🙏
You're very welcome :) Cheers, man!
Thanks for everything Sam, you are inspirational as always
The first thing that came to mind was my impatience. Always trying to get to the next step.

Sam Lenz is the realest dude.

Thank you, Mitchel! I try man, I really try haha. All we can do is gain the wisdom to do better. Cheers!
@@SamLenzArtwork Well imo you're doing the best job! I agree for sure and in hopes I can gather this wisdom along with you all.

I follow the patreon - top notch. I am a musician and come back to these words often.

Thank you Sam. I feel your motivation and appreciate the words of encouragement. They matter and connect us through a common bond.
Great advice, appreciate you Sam
Good stuff Sam! I needed a good swift kick in the rear to get my paint brush moving!
Sam, after watching this, I started punching my stack of shame. It started just a light jab, a lefty a day. I'm here now standing amongst the chaff, I have brought low my pvc demons. I am Ruin, I AM WAR.
Hey, the perfect video while I'm procrastinating
Thanks for the sound advice and good vibes, dude.

Perfect timing... I wasn't motivated to paint today.... now I am! .... just need to figure out which of my weaknesses I take on first 🤔... so many choices
This is exactly what I needed to hear today. Got me feeling pumped to put some brush to paint, and paint to model!
I needed this today, peace and love brother.
Great message, thank you Sam
You're welcome:)

Really inspirational man. These words can be applied to so many things in our lives. Thanks for all your awesome content and words of inspiration.
You're welcome, John! Glad you hear what I'm getting at. Painting is a fun microcosm that can be applied to much larger ideas. More to come!
What a lovely video Sam, thank you
How can you not just absolutely love Sam Lenz
Aw shucks, thanks man.
I've been a fan of your since " TAU FOR SALE!!!"

Saw your newest video after adepticon - Now gonna rewatch this one. MAN I LOVE THE OLD INTRO
Haha, all things mist change. I still have that old intro though, and maybe I'll use it. It symbolizes a different chanpeter in my life.
I need more courage on using colors. Most of my painted minis look monochromatic. I tend to reach for natural colors instead of having fun with the colors. I think it has to do something with my color blindness. Thx Sam for the inspiration on this and other videos!
This somehow makes me want to hear Bon Scott singing Fraternitys Seasons of change.
Bravo my dude!
Hey thanks!
love the Spectral Voice shirt! Keep doing these vids please
I'll make more :) I'll keep pointing out the t-shirts too haha. Many thanks!

I'm so glad to hear that:)
love this video, your advice, and words of encouragement man.

Great stuff friend 👏 👍
Thank you, Mark!
Sam is the best!
So are you! 🍻
philosophical bruv in aviators hail to the chief ppl ;)
Dude, you are special :)
Thank you, Mark! I'm honored!
My biggest weakness is never knowing when to stop buying new shit for painting or models that I am totally going to finish some day.
Motivating, yes, but I didn't quite get the thing with the castle?
Happy corn!
Spectral Voice!! \m/
Had to check the description. Was wondering where you were with ripe corn/soy!
My weakness is my painting work rate is often being undone by Analysis Paralysis
My strength is that I'm actually part cyborg
This is the best video on youtube
Wooo, I have arrived!
thanks
I love when you do these little motivational vids. Do you have times of no inspiration? What do you do about them?
Huzzah!
Lol. Always on some deep shit. Cool dude
I HATE building minis...love painting them... any pointers on getting through the drudgery of gluing/filling/sanding...
Me too. I absolutely hate it. To hell with commission painting. How about commission building.
@@BrandXsps lol... we've created a movement...
"Is Wisconsin Spice like Pumpkin Spice?"
..."Nah, it'd just taste like cheese and beer."
Do you smell manure?
No, I smell spice. Wisconsin spice, and it's perfect.
NMM. I just can't seem to get a result im happy with.
My weakness is Sam's Hair.
I grew up in the Midwest and I know those bugs means it is hot out there. How are you wearing that jacket. Jokes aside thanks for the motivation
Must of been recorded last fall with the corn being rdy
Exactly!
Yarr, it was last fall. I put bonus videos up on patreon from time to time and then share them out much later.
